"Elder Chen, what are you doing right now?"
Steward Cao, though he had said all that earlier, did not care whether this Chen bastard took hundreds of lowly servants back to the Cloud Sword Peak.
But when it came to Su Qingxue, there was no way he could allow it.
A beauty like Su Qingxue was not something that came to the servants' quarters every other day. It had been almost more than five years since he had been keeping an eye on this woman.
At this point, he knew exactly when she woke up and when she went out to fetch water for the servants' quarters.
She was a high-quality vessel to birth his children for him. At his age, he had already realized that future advancement in cultivation was going to slow down sooner or later, so what he needed to focus on was birthing offspring.
With his talent alone, his children could become outer disciples of the Cloud Pearl Sect. What he desired at this point was beauty, because he too had been made fun of by others for his physical appearance.
"Can't you see, Steward Cao? I'm asking servant Su Qingxue whether she wishes to be part of Sword Cloud Peak or not." Chen Fang turned his head slightly and raised his brow at Steward Cao.
Steward Cao took a deep breath, realizing that this matter could be resolved quite easily.
Since this man needed a disciple, why not point him in the direction of someone who actually had some talent left in them, even though at the moment they were nothing but trash.
"Elder Chen, that woman is not worthy of your Sword Cloud Peak, as you can see how frail and worthless she looks. How about that guy over there?" Steward Cao said, suddenly pointing in another direction, where a young man with a wooden sword in his hand was practicing his swordsmanship.
"That young man's name is Yang Kai, and he's quite talented in swordsmanship, as you can see."
Chen Fang did not understand why Steward Cao was against him taking Su Qingxue, but instead of focusing on that matter, he looked where the steward was pointing. His gaze finally landed on the young man.
[Name: Yang Kai]
[Root Bone: Immortal Sword Body (Immortal Grade) – Unawakened; requires Dark Root Herb and Serpent Lily Flower to awaken]
[Comprehension: Divine Grade]
[Current Status: Dantian shattered, suppressed by Dark Immortal Curse]
Chen Fang froze for a second looking at the young man, who seemed to be under eighteen years old. This little guy was quite a bit younger than Su Qingxue.
"Steward Cao, your eyes seem to have gotten quite a bit better." Chen Fang said with a smile.
"I'll happily take that kid with me." He added, then turning around, asked Su Qingxue, "Servant Su Qingxue, why are you thinking so hard about it?"
Steward Cao, who had sighed in relief seeing him accept the offer, however, the next moment, noticing him utter the repetitive question in front of servant Su, couldn't help but get angry.
"Elder Chen, you're being too much."
"Being too much? What did I do?" Chen Fang asked, his expression blank.
A thick vein suddenly popped on Steward Cao's bald spot as he took a step forward and whispered, "Su Qingxue is mine. I cannot allow you to take her."
Chen Fang finally understood why this greedy toad was acting like this.
It turned out the toad was trying to have swan meat.
Dream on. How could he allow such beauty, and one with such heavenly talent at that, to be devoured by a toad whose destiny was to die as a steward?
"Cannot allow? Steward Cao, perhaps you are forgetting who is standing right in front of you?" Chen Fang raised his voice.
Even if he was only a peak Physical Enhancement Realm cultivator at the moment, he was still an elder. And an elder could accept anyone as his disciple if the other person agreed and did not already have a master.
Steward Cao, hearing that, panicked. "Elder Chen, that's not what I mean. What I'm trying to say is, can't you leave her for me? You can choose anyone else from the lot."
Hearing Cao's words, Chen Fang laughed aloud while putting his hand on the man's shoulder. "Steward Cao, things do not always work the way you want them to."
Su Qingxue, who also stood nearby and had long noticed Steward Cao's intentions toward her through others, knew very well that this was a heaven-sent opportunity.
If she let this opportunity go, all she would become in the end was a vessel whose only job was to birth children.
She had yet to prove herself. How could she allow herself to be swallowed by a toad?
Resolving herself, she looked at Elder Chen. Though there were very weird rumors about him, calling him even a trash elder, at a glance she could tell that he was handsome and, moreover, seemed more trustworthy than that toad who wanted to devour her.
"Elder Chen, I've decided. I'll follow you to Sword Cloud Peak." Her voice fell heavy in the silence, making Chen Fang smile.
"What?" Steward Cao barked.
His eyes threw daggers at Su Qingxue, as if telling her to shut up. However, ignoring his gaze, Su Qingxue immediately walked behind Chen Fang, as if taking cover behind him.
"Steward Cao, do you have anything to say to my people?" Chen Fang pushed his hand forward, blocking Steward Cao from pressuring Su Qingxue.
Steward Cao wanted to take action, but in the end all he could manage to say was, "You'll regret this, Elder Chen." Then, turning his attention toward Su Qingxue, he whispered, "After the sect's grand competition, I'll personally welcome you back."
"We'll see about that. But before that, remember not to try anything that might cause you harm." Chen Fang pushed the bald man aside and began to walk toward his other target.
With the first harem member successfully roped in, now it was time to think about the grand competition of the sect. "Yang Kai, are you interested in becoming the first disciple of Sword Cloud Peak?"
