After the citizens, Silas checked all the scientists. Although Silas had never observed them before, seeing their way of researching and their dedication, Silas was impressed. This was the only department that felt like a true department from the True Universe. They only cared about results. There were all types of experiments going on. Some involved plants, animals, and even humans. Some were attaching nuclear weapons to the jets for launching them as far as possible.
Silas didn’t leave even one point unchecked, but even then, other than more gory sights, there was nothing wrong inside the labs. They were working for the welfare of the Empire. This much was not enough to stop them.
Silas moved to his next target, the technologies. Trains, airplanes, ships, and supercomputers were all working correctly. There was no sign of rebellion or anything else. Silas focused more on the supercomputers, and even then, he didn’t find even one problem with the technologies. Silas knew there was no chance of rebellion after taking the oath, but even then, he didn’t leave them unchecked.
After the technology, Silas focused on the infrastructure of his Empire, and after checking it twice, he was sure that there was no problem with it. All water supplies and power grids were working well. Buildings were solid.
These positive results should have made Silas happy, but his anxiety increased even more.
He looked at the armies. They were practicing martial arts, and many of them were studying the Elves’ style of fighting, as they also had Wood Control. Those who chose weapons as their Life Weapons were learning weapon arts like swordplay. Silas checked every activity of the army, their drills, schedules, and orders. But there was also no problem with them.
Silas then checked the flora and fauna that were in a suspended evolutionary state. There was not much to see in them. Even if they all died, it would hardly affect him or the development of Earth, but still, Silas checked each plant and animal.
It took Silas half a year to complete all these inspections. There were no meetings held during this time. Everyone was preparing for war. There was not much they could discuss in meetings, as they had already made decisions for almost every event.
As the months passed, Silas began to realize how much responsibility he had taken upon himself. Every department he inspected was connected to the survival of his Empire in one way or another. But even if the scientists made a small mistake or the armies failed to follow an order, the consequences could not be severe. Yet none of these possibilities explained the feeling that something was wrong. Although there were small problems, but they were nowhere enough to induce such feeling inside him. He had checked everything he could think of, but the source of his uneasiness remained hidden. This only made him more determined to continue searching.
Even after half a year of continuous searching, Silas didn’t stop. He kept searching. His odd behavior was also noticed by Era, but she ignored him. She thought that this was anxiety before ascension. After all, the time was nearing for her ascension. She also had to prepare. It was a lifetime event for her.
Silas didn’t mind Era, nor did he disturb her by telling her about his anxiety. He knew she could only do a quick check for him, but he believed more in himself. He wanted to see what was causing the danger.
But he only met with disappointment. Now, only a few things were left to check. Silas checked Antarctica. The first two generations had gone, and two more had arrived in their place. One year later, the third generation would also leave the Empire. Silas checked the children, and there was no problem with them. They even seemed promising.
Silas leaned back on his throne. Now, only two things remained to check. Silas looked toward the Bermuda Triangle, where Zerak’s coffin had been found, but there was nothing. The last thing he wanted to see was that Zerak’s coffin had returned once again, but there was nothing like this. Zerak was not there, so this suspicion was also cleared. Now, only the monarchs were left to check.
Silas checked the palace above Antarctica first. There was no problem there. Paul was clearly practicing his art. He seemed to be increasing his strength for the war. There were two more children in his palace. One of them was likely the special talent he had talked about, and the other child also looked hardworking. Silas found no problem with them.
Silas moved to the next palace above Africa. There was Cassian, his wife, his child Rurak, and Paul’s daughter Hazel living there. Silas checked everyone. He remembered Rurak. He was the person who had eliminated his mother and sister, but he didn’t do anything. That was nothing but practice, and the other side had clearly not crossed the limit.
Silas couldn’t think of anything that would be wrong with the other palaces, but even then, he checked them. He didn’t know the reason for his anxiety, and after starting to walk the Path, these supernatural signals should not be missed. They were caused by causality and dismissing them could cause serious harm.
He had learned that the universe did not always reveal danger through clear signs. Sometimes, a feeling of uneasiness was the only warning he would receive before an unexpected event changed everything. Silas did not know whether this feeling came from his own Will, the influence of causality, or something connected to Zerak’s Fate. He could not afford to dismiss any of these possibilities. Even if his search led nowhere, he would rather waste time investigating than regret ignoring a warning later.
Silas tried to calm himself down first. He didn’t want to continue in this state of mind; otherwise, he would likely leave something behind. Although only five palaces were left, Silas kept a serious attitude toward his anxiety.
