After that, Hippolyta left.
Diana pushed the door open abruptly, making a rather loud thud as it hit the wall.
Diana swept in like a red and blue whirlwind.
She saw at a glance that Arthas was sitting on the bed, cupping his face in his hands, with a silly grin on his face and a somewhat vacant look in his eyes.
More importantly, there was indeed a faint but very distinct fragrance lingering in the air of the room.
It was the incense Hippolyta often used, a scent mixed with sandalwood and rose.
Diana walked quickly to the bedside, hands on her hips, leaning forward slightly, her blue eyes full of inquiry.
“Hey.” “What are you thinking about so intently?” “What did Mother just say to you?
Why do you look…
so lovestruck?” She waved her hand in front of Arthas’s eyes, trying to wake up the little guy who was clearly still reminiscing about something.
Arthas was startled by the sudden voice.
He suddenly snapped back to reality, saw Diana close at hand, and instinctively shrank back a bit.
Then he remembered the pinky swear agreement he had just made with Sister Hippolyta and immediately swallowed the words he wanted to say.
His face quickly changed to an innocent and naive expression.
“Ah?
It’s nothing!” “Sister, why didn’t you knock before coming in?
You scared me to death.” He patted his chest, trying to change the subject.
“The Queen Sister just told me that my body is recovering well and I don’t have to worry about the Divine Power Backlash anymore.” “She also said…
she said my move last night was very cool and praised me for having talent!” He blinked after saying that, his sincere look showing almost no flaws.
Diana looked at him suspiciously.
Although she felt Arthas was definitely hiding something, like why Mother had specifically sent her away.
But seeing him so lively, it didn’t look like he had been bullied.
Since Mother didn’t want her to know, she wouldn’t ask.
Anyway, Arthas was still here, and that was enough.
She curled her lip, dropped her interrogating stance, and sat down on the edge of the bed.
“Fine, if you don’t want to say, then forget it.” “Since you’re feeling better, don’t stay in bed.” “Get up.” She reached out to pull Arthas’s arm, her strength so great that she almost sent him flying.
“The weather is so good today, what’s the point of staying cooped up in the room?” “Come on, I’ll take you to a great place.” Arthas stumbled from the pull and hurriedly scrambled off the bed to put on his shoes.
“Where are we going?” “Is there good food?” “Or are we going to train again?” He asked curiously while pulling up his slightly loose boots.
Last night’s battle had filled him with a desire to explore this island; as long as he didn’t have to see that fierce General Antiope, anywhere was fine.
Diana helped him straighten his slightly crooked collar, a mysterious smile playing on her lips.
“You’ll know when we get there.” “Anyway, it’s a secret Base that only I know about.” “I wanted to take you there yesterday, but Aunt Antiope interrupted.” “No one is going to disturb us today.” After saying that, she didn’t wait for Arthas to get fully dressed and pulled his hand as she ran out.
The two ran through the long corridors, avoiding the patrolling guards like two little mice sneaking out.
Diana led Arthas into a path that looked long-abandoned.
The grass here was very tall, almost reaching Arthas’s knees.
But Diana walked skillfully, pushing aside the branches in her way and occasionally turning back to pull Arthas, who was having trouble keeping up.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, falling in dappled patches on the two of them.
The sound of the sea breeze became clearer, and the salty, damp smell in the air grew stronger.
Finally, after passing through the last thicket.
The view before them suddenly opened up.
This was a hidden beach located at the bottom of a cliff.
The sand here wasn’t the common golden yellow, but a strange pinkish-white.
The seawater here was exceptionally clear, showing various shades of blue.
Even more peculiar were the many huge rocks by the beach, eroded by the sea into various shapes.
Some looked like mushrooms, others like arches.
It was very quiet here; except for the sound of waves and seagulls, no noise could be heard.
It was like a corner forgotten by the World.
Arthas’s eyes widened as he looked at this beautiful scenery, and he couldn’t help but let out a gasp of admiration.
“Wow!” “It’s so beautiful here!” He let go of Diana’s hand and rushed toward the beach like a happy puppy.
The sand beneath his feet was fine, soft, and warm, feeling wonderful to step on.
Diana watched Arthas’s excited back, the smile on her face becoming very soft.
She followed slowly behind and found a clean reef to sit on.
She watched Arthas chasing the waves by the sea, picking up shells one moment and trying to catch those fast-running little crabs the next.
That simple happiness was infectious.
She took off her shoes and stepped barefoot on the sand, feeling the slightly cool touch.
“Little Arthas!” She called out.
“Don’t run too far!
The water is deep over there!” Hearing the call, Arthas turned back, holding up a huge conch with colorful patterns and waving it at Diana.
“Sister, look!” “This one is huge!” “It’s for you!” He ran back excitedly, clutching the still-dripping conch.
Diana took the conch.
It was indeed a very beautiful conch, with patterns on it that looked like a Nebula.
She put the conch to her ear and listened.
“Hmm, I can hear the sound of the ocean.” She said with a smile.
“Thank you for the gift, I like it very much.” Arthas plopped down on the sand next to her, not caring if his pants got dirty.
He looked up at Diana’s long hair, which was blown messy by the sea breeze.
“Sister, is this your secret Base?” “Did you used to come here alone often?” Diana nodded, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon.
“Yes.” “Sometimes when I’m tired from training or in a bad mood, I come here to sit.” “Listening to the sound of the waves and watching the seagulls flying around.” “It feels like all my troubles disappear.” She turned her head to look at Arthas.
“But before, it was always just me.” “Bringing you here today, you can be considered the second Master of this place.” Arthas felt a surge of emotion.
This feeling of sharing a secret made him feel that the distance between them had shortened.
He reached out and drew a circle in the sand, then drew two stick figures inside the circle.
One big and one small, holding hands.
“Then if Sister comes here again in the future.” “Even if I’m not here.” “When you see this sea and hear the sound of this conch.” “You have to think of me.” “Just as if I’m here with you.” Diana looked at the drawing on the beach; although it was drawn poorly with crooked lines.
She felt it was the most beautiful drawing she had ever seen.
She reached out and drew a sword and a shield next to the two little figures.
“Don’t worry.” “I won’t forget.” “And…” She paused, her tone becoming a bit more firm.
“One day, I will leave this island.” “When that time comes, I’ll take this conch to find you.” “No matter where you are.” Just as the two were immersed in this rare moment of warmth.
A horn sounded in the distance.
It was a signal from the Palace.
The sound was long and loud, piercing through the sea breeze to reach them.
Diana stood up and brushed the sand off her skirt.
She glanced at the sky; the Sun had already begun to sink in the west, dyeing the sea surface gold.
“It seems it’s about time.” “Mother is summoning us over there.” She reached out and pulled Arthas, who was still sitting on the ground, to his feet.
“Let’s go.” “There seems to be a very important Banquet tonight.” “Go back and change your clothes, dress yourself up to look handsome.” “Don’t embarrass Asgard.” Arthas took Diana’s hand and nodded.
Although he was a bit reluctant to leave this peaceful beach, he knew that more exciting things were waiting ahead.
“Okay!” “I’m definitely going to eat your national treasury empty, Sister!” The two smiled at each other and, holding hands, walked toward the Palace against the backdrop of the setting Sun.
The footprints they left behind were soon smoothed over by the rising tide.
But the drawing on the beach and the feelings hidden in the conch.
Remained in this memory.
