( 11 months later )
Today, I woke up at 6:00 a.m., which is about an hour before the exam. After getting ready, I went to the dinner table to have breakfast with my parents.
"My sweetie is going to UA; mommy is so proud of you." My mother continued speaking while giving me a hug.
"Mom, stop"
' I have to admit that I am slightly embarrassed'
My dad came and put a hand on my shoulder and said
"Seiji, I'm sure that you will be alright, but I will say this again: we are very proud of you, son."
"That's right, sweetie, you don't have to be nervous. You will do just fine."
"Thanks, Mom and Dad."
I must say, it is very comforting to know that your parents love you. In my past life, I didn't even know that I missed this. I always thought that I would always be fine on my own, and that others who came to me were just after profit or trying to get something from me.
"Now, prepare yourself, I will drive you to UA to take your exams"
"Sure, Dad, I'm already done eating. I will be ready in a minute."
After my dad took me to the exam center, he simply wished me good luck since he had already said everything else at home. A lot of students are going to take the exam, their hearts filled with hope.
They all wanted to be heroes, all of them for their own reasons; some of them wanted to win a lot of money or fame like me. Some others wanted to be like famous heroes and save the day with a smile on their face. Nonetheless, only a small number of candidates will be joining UA; that's none of my concerns, though.
After parting with My Father, I directed myself to the auditorium where the instructions about the exam were to be given.
After finishing the written exam and physical check. I am now waiting for the orientation to begin. I couldn't help but look at the protagonist, yes, 'Midoriya Izuku'. He was sitting just a few rows before, constantly muttering to himself. The guy sure is annoying; I can understand why Bakugo was fed up with him.
After a while, Present Mic walked onto the podium with the lights coming on.
"Hello boys and girls, if you are ready, can I get a YEAHHHH!!!" he yelled with a cheerful tone.
' Cough cough' Wow, I knew it was coming, but I still wasn't ready for this.
After an awkward silence, Present Mic continued speaking unperturbed.
After his explanation, a blue-haired boy, Tenya Ida, said,
"Excuse me, can I ask a question?"
And after receiving acknowledgement from Present Mic, he continued.
"There appear to be no fewer than four varieties of fake villain. Aren't you forgetting one? How could such an obvious mistake possibly be for Japan's top hero school? And you, with curly hair, he suddenly pointed at Midoriya glaring at him, you've been muttering this whole time; it's distracting. If this is some sort of game to you, then please live right now"
I continued to observe, but from what I'm seeing, he is very impatient. I can understand that he is displeased, but to correct the examiner in such a way, this is a very bad first impression.
"Sorry", Midoriya said.
Before he could continue speaking, Present Mic interrupted him.
"Okay, okay, thanks for the reminder, examinee 7111. The fourth type of villain you will come in contact with is worth 0 points. There will be one present in each area, so do what you will.
Tenya, who had asked the question, sat down, satisfied with the answer. "So it's just a gimmick to be avoided. Got it. Thank you, sir. I apologize for my rude interruption!"
I lifted an eyebrow; at least he is somewhat self-aware, huh?
"Now Let's move to the main events, PLUS ULTRAAA."
He yelled again at the end of the presentation.
With that, the screen behind him started listing out which testing locations the participants were assigned to.
It seems like nothing changed from canon yet, or at least nothing that I am aware of.
The testing location is a gigantic area filled with urban structures that looked like a replica of the actual Musutafu City.
' Sure is huge; you couldn't really tell how big it is from the show.' I thought, looking at the walls that surrounded the area, stretching from end to end, miles long.
And before I knew it, we were all sorted into different testing areas, and it seemed like I was on the same site as the protagonist because I could see him from where I stood, still being nervous, and there were also other members of the main cast present.
Standing in the preparation zone, I was stretching my limbs to warm up. While thinking of a way to go about scoring without wasting time.
Unlike the other participants standing here, I knew that there was a secret point given to those who helped others. I was thinking about what to do to maximize my points.
I turned my head around to try focusing on the task ahead.
'This is a very big battleground, at least the size of a whole town. I should be able to let the black ghost go on a rampage here without worry.'
The gathered students were buzzing with nervous energy, some of them stretching and warming up their bodies like me while others calmly looked on, waiting for the starting countdown to signal the begin of the practical exam.
Suddenly a voice came through the speakers, marking the beginning of the test.
"Aaaaand START!"
Without waiting for any other warning, I started running into the city. It seemed like Bakugo also received the message because I could hear an explosion, and when I turned, I saw him flying closely behind me with his quirk.
"Huh?" Standing there frozen, other people started looking around, thinking if the announcer had made a mistake or they had misheard something.
"What's wrong!? The test has already started! Run! Run!!!"
With that last word, the dam was broken, and people started rushing into the testing area, swarming like ants.
The objective here is obvious, 'Show off as much as I could and grab the attention of the teachers who were undoubtedly watching.'
'This is a great opportunity for me to see what I am capable of. What better way to do that than a test that was tailored specifically by one of the smartest bears, dog, mouse,... Or whatever? My hero career takes its first steps today!'
Turning into a side street to get out of the way and avoid running into others, I ran into my first target, a 3-pointer. As it turned toward me, I briefly stopped in my tracks. I rushed it, and I struck it square in the jaw, and nearly took its head off with my kick.
Before I could react, another 3-pointer appeared from behind, swinging a huge arm at me; it was stopped by my black ghost, who promptly ripped it apart. This also sent out some of the machinery inside of it.
I couldn't help but smile seeing this. I had trained my quirk a lot, but for the first time, I was seeing just how much power it could achieve against an enemy.
The joy I felt from seeing the results of my training was incredible. I sent the black ghost charging left and right at the remaining robots.
Before I knew it, and in less than a minute, it had already cleared the street. My training over the last few years proved to be useful as I was able to quickly take out a few dozen robots.
Unlike the rest of the U.A. exam participants who were running around mindlessly, I decided to stop at that point and started rethinking my approach.
Instead of running around searching without a strategy for robots to destroy, better take the high ground and search for them and rescue a few participants at the same time, to rack up rescue points.
Flying above the one-point robot by grabbing onto the leg of the black ghost, I focused my attention on those with two and three points.
Landing on the ground, I turned around to look at the approaching robots.
Even though I could send the black ghost alone to destroy enemies I preferred and stay far from danger, I prefer keeping the actual distance it could go from me a secret for the time being.
I turned around to look at the approaching two- and three-point robots. The black ghost slammed into them, sending them to the ground. He looked at the robots in front of him.
Not a second after, they got crushed onto the ground by it jumping and landing on them.
"Good, this is more efficient when it comes to dealing with them."
Leaving the crushed two- and three-point robots on the ground, he then looked at the other robots coming towards him.
"Let's try this again."
Seeing the robot approaching, I sent off the black ghost to eliminate them and afterwards departed to the next location.
I will also keep hidden that the black ghost can use ranged attacks by limiting it to close-quarters combat, though I'm not against him throwing things around.
Seeing the robot being so easily torn apart, I'm reminded that,
' I should tone it down a little when facing an actual human being so as not to tear off my opponent's arm and flesh.’
