“Ah!”

“Ah!”

When Wen Yu woke up, he found himself in a big hotel bed. He opened his eyes and was startled to see Fu Chen right next to him. Without thinking, he kicked Fu Chen right off the floor.Full novel: Inferior Sincerity — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He could not really be blamed for this. Because of his face, back when he was at the Zhou family home, he had almost been assaulted in the middle of the night by a bold servant. If Cheng Xiaoling had not woken up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and caught the man, Wen Yu would not have known what would have happened to him.

That servant did not receive any punishment; Zhou Yuan even rewarded him instead.

Later on, Wen Yu raised a dog and hid an electric stun baton under his pillow. If anyone dared to come in the middle of the night, the dog would let out a loud howl, and Wen Yu could use the stun baton to save himself.

Fu Chen already had a terrible morning temper, and on top of being rudely awakened by being thrown onto the floor, his face was as dark as if he were cursed by malevolent spirits.

Fu Chen propped himself up against the edge of the bed and stood up, his entire face dark as ink. “Do you want to die?”

Wen Yu calmed down from the shock of just waking up. Recalling what happened last night, he felt a bit embarrassed. “Sorry.”

Fu Chen looked at Wen Yu coldly. “That is the second time.”

“What?” Wen Yu did not understand.

“You deliberately climbed into my bed.” Fu Chen narrowed his eyes slightly, revealing a somewhat dangerous signal. “This is the second time.”

He actually meant that?

Wen Yu had not expected this. The first time was the doctor’s idea, and this time he had passed out. Truthfully, Wen Yu had no idea how he ended up sleeping here.

To think Fu Chen’s two friends were so trusting, leaving someone with such ulterior motives like him to spend the entire night with Fu Chen.

“I,” Wen Yu was just about to explain when a knock sounded at the door.

Wen Yu got out of bed to open it.

It was the person who had come to invite Fu Chen to lunch.

“Uh,” Ji Chen looked a bit awkward when he saw Wen Yu opening the door. “Good morning.”

Wen Yu’s hair was somewhat messy from sleep. From Ji Chen’s angle, he could even see a small red mole on Wen Yu’s lowered eyelid. It appeared and disappeared in the gaps between Wen Yu’s blinks, making one’s heart itch with temptation. He could not help but want to reach out, press against Wen Yu’s eyes, and look at that mole more closely.

“Morning.” Wen Yu raised his eyes to look at the somewhat stunned Ji Chen.

“Ahem!” Ji Chen put his right fist to his mouth and coughed. After all, people always pretend to be very busy when they are feeling awkward.

“Um,” Ji Chen met Wen Yu’s gaze, feeling as though his heart had been scratched a few times, making it somewhat itchy. “Is Fu Chen awake?”

“Awake.” Wen Yu lowered his eyes and said softly.

With his eyes lowered, Wen Yu’s small mole was once again prominently exposed, leaving Ji Chen somewhat fascinated.

His gaze then swept down over Wen Yu’s slender collarbones.

Wen Yu opened the door wider and stepped aside. “Come in.”

“Huh? In, in where?”

Wen Yu frowned. He felt like he could not understand what the other person was saying. Did these rich kids not understand his accent because he grew up surrounded by servants?

Wen Yu felt that his speech should not have much of an accent.

“Inside the door.” Wen Yu repeated.

“Oh, oh, oh! Right!” Ji Chen entered the room as if waking from a dream, and then saw Fu Chen’s thoroughly displeased expression, realizing that Fu Chen’s morning temper had not completely worn off yet.

If an aura could be represented by a color, Fu Chen was probably surrounded by black mist right now.

“Why am I sleeping here?” Fu Chen asked.

“Well,” Ji Chen explained roughly, “Weren’t you acting up last night because of an in-heat Omega? So you called…” Ji Chen did not know Wen Yu’s name and glanced at him.

“Wen Yu.” Wen Yu offered understandingly.

“You had Ah Feng call Wen Yu up here, and he released his pheromones for you.” Ji Chen paused, searching for his wording. “Maybe your needs were a bit high, and you exhausted him. When Ah Feng and I came in, both of you had passed out.”

“We originally intended to send you two back, but you held onto him for dear life and refused to let go, so we called Uncle Chen and told him that since today was Ah Feng’s birthday, you two would just sleep here.”

You held onto him for dear life and refused to let go?

Held onto him and did not let go?

Did not let go?

Fu Chen’s expression grew darker the more he listened. Ji Chen’s words echoed in his mind like a loud shout in an empty valley, reverberating endlessly.

Ji Chen felt that the aura behind Fu Chen had turned even darker, almost rivaling a villain going through a dark transformation in a television drama.

“So, are you two eating breakfast?” Ji Chen looked at Fu Chen, then at Wen Yu.

“Not eating.” Fu Chen said, pulling the quilt over his head.

Eat my foot; he was already full of anger.

It was all this damn illness’s fault. How hateful.

That Omega must be so smug, knowing he could not live without his pheromones.

“Wen Yu?” Ji Chen looked at Wen Yu. “Are you eating?”

“Does it cost money?” Wen Yu asked, considering that this hotel did not look like something he could afford.

“No, no, no!” Ji Chen said hastily. “It is free! The breakfast at Muxin Hotel is delicious!”

“Then I will have a little.” Wen Yu said. After all, having released so many pheromones yesterday, he did feel extremely hungry now that he was awake.

“Do not go back to sleep for too long, okay? We will come back to get you after we eat.” Ji Chen said, standing by the bed.

Fu Chen did not answer, so Ji Chen took Wen Yu to the twenty-seventh floor of the hotel for breakfast.

The five-star hotel breakfast was very rich, with a wide variety of dishes and types. Wen Yu just asked for a brown sugar bun, an egg, and a bowl of millet porridge.

Ji Chen, on the other hand, took a bagel smothered in blueberry jam, a glass of milk, and some crab stick scrambled eggs.

The two of them sat by the window and ate breakfast quietly. Ji Chen occasionally glanced at Wen Yu out of the corner of his eye. Wen Yu ate very gracefully, chewing and swallowing slowly.

When biting into the bun, his lips parted slightly, revealing a reddish tongue. When swallowing, his Adam’s apple bobbed gently, like a smooth little pebble sliding slowly across delicate silk.

It was Ji Chen’s first time seeing someone eat a meal that looked like a painting, very beautiful.

Ji Chen was mesmerized, holding a bagel suspended in mid-air. Wen Yu looked at him with a trace of confusion on his face.

“Is there something on my face?” Wen Yu asked.

“Oh, no. I just thought of something and spaced out.” Ji Chen smiled awkwardly, sighing inwardly that the Omega in front of him was like a poppy flower, capable of making someone lose their mind in a moment of inattention.

The Omega possessed striking, exquisite looks. Perhaps because he was only seventeen and had not fully matured yet, his facial contours were not overly sharp, giving him very smooth facial lines. Coupled with a proud, straight nose and delicate lips, he was so pretty it was hard to tell if he was a boy or a girl.

A pair of black-and-white eyes were very lively, yet his gaze remained indifferent. This contrast gave Wen Yu a fatal attraction whenever he stared directly at someone.

Ji Chen recalled what Fu Chen had said yesterday about this Omega being full of schemes, noting how easily one could be deceived by this Omega’s appearance.

Fu Chen lay face down on the desk and slept the entire morning. Wen Yu actually admired Fu Chen’s sleep quality; he basically fell asleep the moment his head hit the desk, and with the classroom so noisy, he could sleep for an entire morning straight.

There was an equestrian class in the afternoon. It was Wen Yu’s first time encountering this type of course; after all, none of the schools he previously attended had such grounds for these kinds of classes, and the teachers mostly just played videos for them to watch.

First High School did not have an excessive number of classes. Generally, the morning was for theoretical classes, and the afternoon was for outdoor activity classes.

This included, but was not limited to, equestrian class, swimming class, archery class, and karate. On Monday afternoons, health and physiology classes were usually held as well; Omegas and Alphas had to pay special attention, while many Betas treated this class as a self-study period.

The old Wen Yu had been like that too.

The school issued unified riding gear, consisting of black riding breeches, a tailcoat jacket, white shirts as an inner layer, and a black riding helmet.

Alphas were generally much taller and broader-chested than Omegas and Betas. As the Alphas walked out of the locker room in their riding gear, the Omegas whispered among themselves with their companions, accompanied by giggles.

Many Omegas covertly sized up Fu Chen.

The Alpha was now fully rested and energized. Sitting tall on horseback, his refined facial features resembled an ancient Greek sculpture, and his whole person exuded confidence and elegance.

Such poise and ease could not be deliberately imitated; arrogance and composure were carved deep into one’s bones, requiring constant cultivation from childhood within an exceptionally affluent environment.

Fu Chen was clearly not riding for the first time. From his posture when mounting to his proficiency in riding a short distance, it was evident he was an old hand, and a quite skilled one at that.

Quite a few people in the class knew how to ride, but many Omegas flocked together to ask Fu Chen for pointers. Wen Yu was quite interested in the sport of horseback riding, but he found that he could not even get onto the horse.

“Do you want me to help you?” Lin Qiaoyue asked when he saw Wen Yu staring eye-to-eye with a horse, attempting to establish a bond through eye contact.

“Thank you,” Wen Yu said, “but I would still like to try on my own first.”

“Alright.” Lin Qiaoyue smiled, watching Wen Yu from the side, afraid he might get hurt by the horse later. “You can talk to it first to soothe it. Do not pull the reins too tight, and step on the stirrup to vault up.”

“Mn.” Wen Yu nodded, then actually began to speak softly to the horse, stroking its coat as he talked.

“Little horse, little horse, do not be afraid.” Wen Yu said softly.

After organizing the reins and holding them in his left hand, Wen Yu draped the portion of the left reins near the horse’s mouth over its neck, placed his right hand on the stirrup, and used the tip of his left foot to push his body upward. Straightening his right leg with a light motion, Wen Yu successfully mounted the horse’s back.

Wen Yu’s horse was white. Sitting on its back like that, Wen Yu really looked like a prince on a white horse.

Lin Qiaoyue smiled and said, “Wen Yu, you are so smart. You actually succeeded on the first try. When I learned to ride, I failed to mount almost ten times before finally getting up once.”

Wen Yu said, “This horse has a very gentle temperament.” Then he reached out and stroked the little horse’s coat again.

“That horse of yours is not gentle at all. I remember horses of this breed have pretty fiery tempers; it seems a lot of people complained before that it was very uncooperative.” Lin Qiaoyue smiled. “It seems to really like you. Maybe it is a lookism fan, seeing that you are good-looking, it is willing to let you ride it.”

Wen Yu’s eyes softened a bit, and he said to the pony, “I like you quite a bit too.”

Wen Yu felt that his recent cold showed no signs of recovering, and he wanted to use the equestrian class to get a good workout and sweat it out.

Wen Yu gripped the reins steadily, his arms rising and falling slightly, and he squeezed the horse’s flanks with his legs, tentatively giving a soft cue to move, and the pony actually took a few steps forward.

Wen Yu’s eyes lit up with delight. He planned to ride to a less crowded area to try trotting for a short distance.

Horses were truly perceptive of human nature. Seeming to sense Wen Yu’s intent, the pony slowly walked toward the less crowded area. Wen Yu lowered his head and smiled, “Good horse.”

However, this horse apparently could not take a compliment. Just as Wen Yu finished praising it as a good horse, obedient, sensible, and understanding, the horse immediately slapped him in the face. It suddenly let out a startled shriek and bolted forward at full speed.

Everyone around was startled. Wen Yu was tossed violently from side to side on the horse’s back. Terrified, he began pulling the reins to try and make the horse stop, but it was completely useless.

“Move! Get out of the way!” Wen Yu cried out in alarm, lest the out-of-control horse injure anyone.

People around began to scream, and someone went off to find the teacher.

Wen Yu’s thought was that as long as he did not hit anyone, the worst-case scenario would be him falling off the horse’s back and sustaining some injuries.

He only hoped he would not be hurt too badly; he still had to study. Since school had just started, he did not want to fall behind. He was not smart enough to begin with, so he needed to work harder than others, he did not have time to waste like this.

Wen Yu tried to force himself to calm down. He took a few deep breaths, his whole body trembling slightly, feeling a bit afraid.

Just as Wen Yu prepared to leave it to fate and braced himself for the fall, a black horse appeared by his side, running parallel to his own. Looking over with a pale, frightened face, Wen Yu saw it was Fu Chen.

Fu Chen clamped his legs tightly against the horse’s body, leaning forward, loosening and tightening the reins in his hands with calculated rhythm to skillfully control the pace as the black horse drew closer to the white one.

Taking advantage of the horses drawing close, Fu Chen leaned sideways, reached out, wrapped an arm firmly around Wen Yu’s waist, and yanked Wen Yu fiercely from the horse’s back, pulling him across to sit right in front of him. The entire sequence of movements was fluid and smooth, accomplished in one continuous motion.

The rising dust lingered in the air, bringing this hero saving a damsel in distress to a close.
