The two quickly reached Ijichi Kiyotaka.
He lay facedown on the ground, covered in blood and completely motionless.
Sakiko’s voice turned dry.
“He’s not already dead…
is he?” By now, Sakiko had witnessed plenty of death.
But Makoto had told her those people were NPCs.
The man in front of her was clearly different.
He was one of the “story characters” Makoto had mentioned.
“Don’t worry.
An ordinary person might die from wounds like these, but he’s a Jujutsu Sorcerer.” Makoto sounded confident, but that confidence actually came from his familiarity with the original story.
Most of the other Assistant Managers had nearly all been killed.
Yet Ijichi, despite being one of the first attacked and lying beneath Uraume’s nose, had somehow survived.
His luck had played a part, but Ieiri Shoko’s Reverse Cursed Technique was also absurdly effective.
Sure enough, Makoto saw a Fate Value of 10 above Ijichi’s head.
‘As expected, I really do need to interact with story characters.’ ‘Even a supporting character has a double-digit Fate Value.’ “Sakiko, heal him.
Can you control your emotions?” Sakiko took a deep breath and crouched down.
“I’ll try.” She gently closed her eyes and began recalling things that had once made her happy.
From meeting Takamatsu Tomori, to forming a band together, all the way until their first official performance of Haruhikage.
Before everything fell apart, they’d truly been happy.
Sakiko had never dared to revisit those memories.
Simply remembering them had once filled her with so much guilt she could barely breathe.
But now, she had courage.
She believed that with Makoto’s help, once she returned home, she’d finally have the ability to properly deal with everything.
A flash of golden light crossed Sakiko’s body.
Then white motes flowed from her palms and entered Ijichi’s body.
Makoto quietly observed.
This was also a perfect opportunity to test the limits of Sakiko’s healing ability.
In terms of pure healing power, she was clearly nowhere near Reverse Cursed Technique, which could restore even horrifying injuries.
Even so, Ijichi’s wounds visibly began closing.
Before long, the man who had seemingly stopped breathing suddenly coughed violently twice and spat out a mouthful of bloody fluid.
Sakiko jumped in surprise and fell out of her focused state.
She was about to continue healing him when Ijichi struggled upright and forced himself to look at the two people before him.
“Thank you…
but who are you?” Wariness filled his eyes.
After being ambushed only moments earlier, he instinctively distrusted anyone who appeared in front of him.
Makoto calmly answered.
“I’m an independent Jujutsu Sorcerer.
My family’s inherited Cursed Technique is Spatial Manipulation.” “I’ve never taken jujutsu-related assignments.
I’ve always tried to live a peaceful life.” “We only came out to help because I figured that if we didn’t, we’d probably die too.” [Ding!
Making Fake Become Real has activated…] [Ijichi Kiyotaka: Fate Value 10.
Trust: 30%…] [Manifestation result: Spatial Manipulation development increased from 22.5% to 25.5%…] Makoto’s eyes lit up.
A strange sensation flowed through his entire body, giving him a deeper understanding of his Cursed Technique.
That three-percent increase seemed to push him past some invisible threshold.
Makoto raised his hand and made a slicing motion.
The steel railing a meter away was instantly severed by Spatial Manipulation.
The cut was smooth as a mirror.
Ijichi’s gaze immediately became much clearer.
If these two were enemies, he would’ve had no chance of surviving in the first place.
That meant Makoto’s explanation was probably mostly trustworthy.
“Thank you.
Could you hand me my phone?” Sakiko picked up the bloodstained phone.
Unfortunately, the screen was completely black.
No matter what Ijichi tried, the device wouldn’t respond.
With no other choice, he looked at Makoto.
“Could I borrow your phone?” Makoto and Sakiko shook their heads at the same time.
Makoto explained, “We both lost our phones during the chaos earlier.” Ijichi clearly didn’t believe that completely, but he wasn’t in a position to press them.
Just as he considered how to ask for more help, Makoto spoke first.
“You’ll be okay here by yourself, right?
We’re going after the guy who attacked you.” Ijichi stared at him in shock.
“No!
That’s far too dangerous!” “Especially when you’re bringing your girlfriend with you.
We can’t let civilians take that kind of risk.” Sakiko’s fingers twitched.
She instinctively wanted to explain, but this clearly wasn’t the right moment.
Makoto replied with righteous conviction.
“That guy is targeting your Assistant Managers.
Right now, we’re the only ones who can stop him.” “As for my girlfriend, I’ll protect her.” [Ding!
Making Fake Become Real has activated…] [Ijichi Kiyotaka: Fate Value 10.
Trust: 40%…] [Togawa Sakiko: Fate Value 45.
Trust: 10%…] [Manifestation result: If you confess your feelings to Togawa Sakiko right now, there is a 4.9% chance she will accept.] The corner of Makoto’s mouth twitched.
‘That works too?’ ‘Looks like I need to be more careful about what I say from now on.’ ‘If I accidentally say something I don’t mean and Making Fake Become Real turns it into reality, it’ll be too late for regrets.’ Realizing he couldn’t persuade them, Ijichi stopped arguing and merely promised that he would contact reinforcements as soon as possible.
Makoto took Sakiko’s hand and quickly headed in the direction Shigemo Haruta had gone.
As they stepped onto the overpass, Sakiko asked in confusion, “What exactly was the reason we saved him?” Makoto gave her a surprised look.
He’d expected her to ask why he’d just called her his girlfriend.
Apparently, Sakiko wasn’t the type to become completely distracted by romance.
That was good news.
“He’s an Assistant Manager.
He’ll report our existence to the Jujutsu Sorcerers on the protagonist side.” “That effectively places us on their side, which should guarantee us at least some basic safety.” “As for Shigemo Haruta, I want to defeat him and take his Cursed Tool.” “I also want to see whether defeating a villain from the storyline gives us any special rewards.” “Of course, if you’re against it, we can cancel the plan.” Makoto had barely finished speaking when they spotted another middle-aged woman in a suit lying beside a trash bin.
Her fingers were still faintly trembling.
Sakiko immediately rushed forward.
Her voice came from ahead.
“Someone this disgusting can’t be forgiven!” And so the two continued pursuing Haruta while rescuing people along the way.
After saving a total of four Assistant Managers, they finally heard the sounds of battle up ahead.
“Goal!” Haruta excitedly kicked Supervisor Nitta, who was lying on the ground.
The blow made her cough up blood.
An enraged Kugisaki Nobara hurled several steel nails toward Haruta before activating her Cursed Technique.
“Hairpin!” A violent explosion erupted.
Haruta walked casually out of the smoke with his arms spread wide.
He didn’t have a single injury.
That was his Cursed Technique.
The power to store miracles.
