Chapter 2: From Trash Egg To S-Rank Maiden

Infinite Realm-Hopping With My Monster Maiden Harem

The egg slips from my palm before I can even react, and instead of cracking on the ground, it just... dissolves. Black mist curls up out of it, thick and cold, spreading fast, and everyone — the whole party, the leader mid-laugh — just freezes.

"What the—" someone starts, but the mist swallows the sound.

It parts slow, like a curtain pulling back, and something steps out of it.

Tall. Taller than me. Black scales running down her arms and along her collarbone, catching the gate-light like polished obsidian, and a tail sweeping the mist behind her, slow and deliberate. Her face — I can’t even describe it right, it just doesn’t feel real, too sharp and too soft in all the right places at once. The kind of beautiful that makes the whole room forget how to breathe.

[Binding Complete: Unidentified Egg → Maiden Form][Loyalty: Absolute — Origin Bond]

She drops to one knee in front of me, right there in the dirt, head bowed, tail curling around her like she’s folding herself smaller in front of something bigger than her.

"You freed me from the shell," she says, voice low and rich, like something ancient talking through something young. "You are my master. My evolution is yours to command."

Behind her the whole party’s just staring, mouths open, the leader included — the guy who just backhanded me thirty seconds ago now looking like he’s seen a ghost.

[Name Required][Assign designation to bound Maiden — Master Jake Vance]

The cursor just blinks there in my vision, waiting on me.

"Viperess," I say, and the name settles into the air between us like it’s always belonged to her.

[Designation Confirmed: Viperess][Class Manifesting...]

The mist behind her swirls up and folds into her shadow, spreading it out long and jagged across the ground even though there’s barely any light left to cast it.

[Class: Shadow Assassin][Rank: S-Tier][Affinity: Shadow / Venom]

Then the whole screen changes, fills up my vision edge to edge, and I nearly stumble back from it.

[Maiden Evolution Engine: Power Share Protocol Activated][Master gains partial ability inheritance from bound Maiden]

[New Skill Acquired: Shadow Blade]

[Master Stats Updated] Level: 1 → 10 Rank: F → E Strength: 4 → 50 Agility: 6 → 100 Mana: F-rank capacity → E-rank capacity

It hits me all at once — not slow, not gradual, just a wave that slams through my whole body like lightning finding ground. My legs, shaking and weak thirty seconds ago, suddenly feel like they could kick a hole through a wall. My vision sharpens. Sounds I wasn’t even hearing before — someone’s shallow breathing across the room, the drip of gate residue somewhere behind me — all of it’s suddenly clear.

I flex my fingers and black shadow curls off them like smoke, forming into the faint shape of a blade before scattering back into nothing.

I look up. The leader’s not laughing anymore. Nobody is.

Viperess is still on one knee in front of me, waiting, patient, like power like this is just Tuesday for her.

"Master," she says, "shall I deal with them?"

Her tail flicks toward the party — toward the man who hit me thirty seconds ago and is now backing up slow, like he already knows what’s coming.

The leader straightens up fast, trying to shake off that half-second of fear, jabbing a finger at me like that’ll put the power back in his hands.

"What forbidden magic is this," he snaps, voice cracking just slightly on "forbidden." "That egg was guild property — I picked it up first, it’s on the loot table, it belongs to my party! She—" he points at Viperess, doesn’t even look at her face, "—she bows to me, not some F-rank porter trash!"

I almost laugh. Actually do laugh, short and sharp.

"Wasn’t this the same trash egg you threw at me?" I say, holding up my hand like I’m still holding it, even though it’s long gone, become her. "Told me to eat it before I starve. Made your whole party laugh about it." I tilt my head at him. "Funny how trash looks real different once it’s kneeling."

His jaw tightens. Viperess doesn’t even bother looking his direction — eyes locked on me, waiting, like his noise isn’t worth her attention.

He switches tracks fast, grasping for something that still gives him teeth.

"You still owe the guild," he says, and there’s a nasty little smile creeping back onto his face now, like he thinks he’s found his footing again. "Gear rental. Registration fee. Porter bond. That debt doesn’t disappear just ’cause you found some cheap trick. I can still call it in tonight. Still send your sister to the mines. Contract’s a contract, remember?"

He’s bluffing with confidence he doesn’t actually have anymore — I can see it in the way his eyes keep flicking to Viperess’s tail, to the shadow still pooling faint and restless around my boots.

But the threat’s real. My sister’s name in his mouth still makes something in my chest go cold, power or no power.

I look down at the crumpled bills still balled in my fist, and the system flickers a new prompt right over the leader’s smug face.

[Wealth Multiplier: Deposit Required for Doubling][Current Cap: $50,000 — Scales with number of bound Maidens][Bound Maidens: 1 / Multiplier Efficiency: Base]

I don’t even hesitate. I feed the eighty dollars into it, mind focused, and the system starts ticking numbers up in front of my eyes like a slot machine that only pays out.

$80 → $160 → $320 → $640...

It’s slow at first, each doubling taking a breath, but then something shifts — I can feel Viperess’s evolution experience bleeding into the process, like her power’s greasing the gears, and the numbers start climbing faster. Way faster.

$5,120 → $10,240 → $20,480...

The leader’s still talking, still threatening, but his voice is background noise now. All I’m looking at is the counter climbing toward the cap.

$40,960...

I need thirty-five thousand. I’m already past it.

The system settles, final tally locking in.

[Balance: $40,960 / $50,000 Cap Reached — Efficiency Bonus Consumed]

I close my hand into a fist, feeling the weight of it even though it’s just numbers now, just power sitting quiet in an account that didn’t exist a minute ago.

Then I look up at him. Really look at him, calm now, calm in a way that clearly unsettles him more than if I’d shouted.

"How much did you say I owe?" I ask. "Thirty-five thousand?"

I let the silence sit there a second before I finish it.

"I can pay that right now. In full. Tonight."

His mouth opens, but nothing useful comes out of it.
