The magical projection shuddered in the cavern air one final time before dissolving into a shower of violet sparks that died against the cold basalt.

The image of the Grand Cathedral vanished, taking with it the manic roars of the crowd, the gleam of the golden olive crown upon Lucas’s brow, and Elena’s serene smile beneath her bridal veil—radiant beside the ring my human hands had bought with three years of shed blood.

Three long years... and the revelation had shattered my heart to its very core.Full novel: Infinite Seduction: Reincarnated as a Kitsune in the Infernal Abyss — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A graveyard silence settled over the cavern, broken only by the faint metallic groan of the seal’s runes and the distant hiss of magma currents.

I remained on my knees upon the stone, head bowed, silver hair spilling in tangled waves over my face.

My porcelain claws dug deep into the rock, spiderwebbing hairline fractures beneath my fingertips.

My breathing was no longer human; it was a dry, hollow rattle—a strangled pant that made my shoulders hitch in violent tremors.

There were no tears. The wellspring of mortal grief that had drowned me in the pool across seven agonizing loops had flash-evaporated like a drop of water on a white-hot forge.

In its place, an abyssal, hollow ache expanded from the center of my chest, devouring the lingering remnants of my former life as Alan.

The boy who dreamed of buying a quiet farm in the southern valleys hadn't died tumbling off the precipice of Weeping Peak. He had died in this exact heartbeat, buried beneath the suffocating weight of a three-year lie.

Three goddamn years.

“So... that was your beloved fiancée,” Carmilla’s voice cut through the stillness, soft as a silk shroud gliding over marble.

The Vampire Progenitor hadn't stepped away.

Her pale hands still rested upon my left shoulder, feeling every shudder that wracked my frame.

Her long nails traced a slow, delicate line down the side of my neck, gently parting my silver bangs to study my face. In her crimson eyes, there was no mockery, no disdain, nor any trace of her usual aristocratic cruelty.

There was only a dark, ravenous recognition: the gaze of an apex predator watching a kindred soul claw its way out from the very mire of betrayal in which she had drowned centuries ago.

“A masterclass in deception,” Carmilla murmured, her lips brushing the tip of my fox ear with soothing, glacial intimacy. “Faking her own martyrdom so you couldn't claim your reward, ensuring you wouldn't become an inconvenient obstacle in her lover's grand ascent. Mortals are always so pathetically predictable the moment they smell gold and nobility.”

To my right, an earth-shaking rumble rattled the stone floor.

Ignis dropped heavily onto one knee before me. Her massive, scaled hand—still blackened and blistered from her blood sacrifice at the seal—rose and seized my jaw, tilting my face upward with unyielding force.

Her pupils of molten magma blazed with a fury so savage that the air between us warped under shimmering heat waves.

“And you were ready to die over that?” the dragon thundered, venting a spray of white sparks into the gloom.

“Seven times you broke yourself to pieces in this pit, weeping for a whore who traded your life for a scrap of gilded brass?!”

I met Ignis’s molten glare head-on. My slit golden pupils, now ringed with concentric bands of crimson and gold born from my newly sprouted tail, flared with a spectral luminescence so dense that the Calamity Dragon’s eyes narrowed, taken aback by the utter absence of weakness in my expression.

“I’m done weeping, Ignis,” I said. My voice didn't waver in the slightest; it was an edge of tempered steel honed on ice.

“Alan was a naive fool who believed in oaths and brotherhood. But Alan stayed dead on that mountain.”

A slow, vicious smile curled my lips.

“I want to see the exact moment they realize the grave couldn't hold me.

I want to rip that ring from Lucas’s finger while he chokes on his own blood, and I want Elena to look into my eyes before I burn their holy cathedral to cinders.”

Ignis held my gaze for three heartbeats. The hard tension in her jaw slowly dissolved into a feral grin, exposing twin rows of serrated fangs.

“Now that is the look of a queen,” the Calamity roared.

She released my jaw only to plant her heavy palm atop my head, roughly ruffling my fox ears with a blunt, barbaric affection.

“Those worms hiding behind sacred stone walls have forgotten what it feels like to fear the sky.

When we break out of this cage, Elina... I will raze that city until not one stone stands atop another.

“And I shall tend to their courtly vermin,” Carmilla purred, wrapping a slender arm around my waist to pull me flush against her chilled chest with possessive entitlement.

“The blood of traitors always carries a sour, curdled vintage... but draining a false hero dry before the altar of his own gods is a feast I wouldn't miss for all of eternity.”

The pact settled between us without need of parchment or blood oaths.

Three monsters born of the surface world's contempt, bound not by honor or virtue, but by the shared hunger for absolute slaughter.

I tried to push myself up, but the moment I put weight onto my porcelain legs, an agonizing spasm tore along my spine. My knees buckled, and the bedrock rushed toward my face.

“Careful,” Carmilla whispered, her voice chiming in tandem with Ignis’s startled grunt.

Both moved before my skin could graze the basalt.

Ignis’s scale-armored arm scooped beneath my thighs, lifting me into the air as effortlessly as a feather, while Carmilla supported my torso, guiding my head against her bare shoulder.

“Your body has reached its breaking point,” the vampire warned, running the back of her knuckles along the base of my spine.

“Assimilating draconic fire and Progenitor blood in a single cycle pushed your core to the verge of collapse.

And that third tail ripping through your flesh is still siphoning your vital reserves.”

I glanced back over my shoulder. The third silver tail, thicker and longer than the first two, twitched in sluggish ripples, trailing ribbons of pale smoke that drifted between specks of liquid magma and crimson rime.

Every inch of my beastkin skin burned with an ethereal fever that blurred the edges of my vision.

“She can’t go back to the freezing water of the pool like this,” Ignis grumbled, glaring toward the northern corridor with distaste. “The leech's hypothermia will snuff out the draconic spark she just kindled.”

“And don't you dare drag her into your sulfuric dung heap,” Carmilla hissed back, locking crimson eyes onto the dragon.

“If those newborn lungs inhale the toxic smog of your forge, her mana channels will implode and suffocate her from within.”

The two guardians stared at each other over my curled form.

The embers of their ancient rivalry flared once more, but this time, the tension didn't erupt into bared claws or drawn weapons. The shared necessity of keeping me breathing acted like an invisible chain, reining in their homicidal impulses.

“We stay here,” Ignis declared, nodding toward an elevated terrace of polished stone a few paces from the Abyssal Seal, where subterranean heat and chilled drafts balanced into a temperate breeze. “Right in the center. Neutral ground.”

Carmilla narrowed her eyes, surveying the ledge with aristocratic skepticism before offering a single, measured nod.

“A truce for tonight. But if those rough scales leave a single scorch mark upon her skin, lizard... I will flay your tail while you sleep.”

“Try it and see how raw magma tastes down your throat, mosquito,” Ignis growled, though her grip remained surprisingly gentle as she adjusted my weight against her formidable frame.

They carried me toward the raised dais.

What unfolded over the next few minutes was a scene I never could have fathomed in any previous loop.

With fluid sweeps of her shadow magic, Carmilla stripped the crimson velvet drapes and black silk pillows from the ruins of her bedchamber, layering them over the stone to insulate the chill of the floor. Ignis, meanwhile, swept the perimeter with a controlled exhalation of draconic fire, tempering the surrounding rock into a radiant hearth that held the cavern’s damp chill at bay.

They laid me gently in the center of the makeshift nest.

Exhaustion slammed into me like a slab of lead.

The adrenaline of forcing the seal and the psychological shock of the scrying projection drained away all at once, leaving my limbs trembling and my consciousness frayed.

My three silver tails spilled lazily across the velvet, seeking comfort in the plush weave.

Yet they had no intention of letting me rest alone.

Carmilla slipped onto the silks to my left. Loosening the laces of her outer corset with practiced ease, she shed the heavy garment, remaining in a translucent chemise of black lace that accentuated the pale curves of her marble back.

Exquisite.

She reclined on her side, slipping one arm beneath my neck to draw me against her torso.

Her slender fingers began stroking the base of my fox ears with hypnotic rhythm, drawing involuntary, shuddering sighs that sent shivers prickling down my spine.

“Rest, my sweet Elina...” the Progenitor whispered, her lips tracing my collarbone, pressing slow, lingering kisses along my throat.

“No one will harm you tonight. You are the first living soul who looked upon me without fear... and the only one I will permit to share my night.”

Before I could answer, a heavy, sweltering presence settled along my right side.

Ignis dropped onto the blankets with a low grunt.

The draconic woman hadn't bothered covering her frame; her bronze skin, armored in gleaming ruby scales that pulsed with soft ambient light, radiated the rich scent of burned cedar and primal strength.

She draped a heavy, scaled leg over my thighs, coiling her tail around my three silver plumes with possessive finality.

Her calloused palm came to rest flat against my bare stomach, radiating a steady pulse of draconic heat that uncoiled the lingering cramps from my metamorphosis.

“Don't let it go to your head, fox,” Ignis rumbled against my bare shoulder, inhaling the scent of sulfur and spectral blossoms clinging to my neck. “A dragon never shares her hoard.

But you made me bleed for you... and now my fire runs in your veins.”

I lay pinned between two sovereign apex predators.

The sensory overload was intoxicating. To my left, the cool, intoxicating caress of the vampire, whose fangs grazed my pulse in quiet promises of yandere devotion; to my right, the blistering, raw heat of the dragon, whose rhythmic breathing set the tempo of the room.

My three tails drifted lazily between them, curling around Carmilla’s slender waist and brushing against Ignis’s armored thighs, acting as a living tether that anchored their fragile peace in the gloom.

The charge lingering between us was no longer purely magical or territorial; it was a dark, mutual desire hummed into every shared breath.

The heat of their palms wandering over my curves, the possessive glares they traded across my chest, and the unreserved warmth of their embrace pulled me into a hazy, dreamless trance.

I closed my eyes, sinking into the confluence of ice and flame. For the first time since falling into this abyss, sleep took me without nightmares of endless falls or torn flesh.

It was a deep, restorative torpor, shielded by two living calamities watching over my breath.

The world exterior slept in its false glory. But down here, in the shadows of the earth, the crucible was ablaze.

Hours blurred into the subterranean dark.

I awoke not to the movement of my companions, but to an unnatural vibration resonating deep within my marrow.

I opened my golden eyes in absolute stillness.

Carmilla slept peacefully at my side, her cheek pillowed against my chest, her fingers tangled loosely in my silver hair. Ignis breathed in heavy, rhythmic cycles, her muscular arm still draped possessively across my hip.

The cavern appeared tranquil, but my fox ears—sensitive to the faintest ripples of ambient mana—twitched toward the ceiling.

Krrrr... krrr...

A hollow, sickening scrape echoed from the dark abyssal depths below the magma bed.

I shifted my gaze toward the Abyssal Seal.

The massive starstone wheel remained locked across two of its three mechanisms, but the central socket we had forced open with our combined blood—the first lock—no longer radiated violet light. From its hollow recess, a thick, putrid vapor had begun to seep outward, weeping down the stone face like rotting black-green bile.

Ancient miasma. The stagnant, festering malice of three thousand years of subterranean decay.

Shattering the first shackle hadn't just pierced the veil to the surface world; it had broken the delicate equilibrium holding back the horrors entombed in the lower trenches.

And through the crawling black fog spilling across the basalt fissures, two pinpricks of pale light—vast, misshapen, and entirely monstrous—ignited within the blackest trench of the chasm.

The rancid reek of primeval carrion and devoured flesh flooded the chamber.

Carmilla and Ignis snapped awake in the exact same heartbeat, their bodies tensing over mine with a violent flare of scales and shadow that severed the quiet of the night.

“What in the gods' names is that?!”
