The stench rising from the chasm was no ordinary carrion; it was the rancid rot of centuries of magical decay—flesh dissolved by primeval acid and choking, concentrated miasma.

An ancient beast, I thought.

Before I could push myself fully upright, Carmilla had already melted from our makeshift bed.Full novel: Infinite Seduction: Reincarnated as a Kitsune in the Infernal Abyss — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Clad only in her thin silk chemise, she dissolved into a ribbon of liquid shadow, coalescing five paces ahead at the lip of the basalt precipice.

Her marble claws were unsheathed, and her crimson eyes burned with a terrifying, murderous luminescence.

“An aberration from the Seventh Layer...” the Progenitor hissed, the chill in her voice instantly freezing the sulfuric steam around her.

“The upper seal always harbored a fault line into the deepest trenches. The blood we spilled across the starstone has stirred the scavengers, little vixen.”

Beside me, the stone groaned as Ignis rose from the blankets, her scales grinding against the rock.

The dragon had no need for shadows. She surged to her feet, iron knuckles popping in rhythm with the flames flaring to life throughout her golden mane.

Her magma halberd, resting a few feet away, answered her psychic call, flying into her open palm with a sharp metallic clack.

“Let that damn beast crawl up,” Ignis growled, her teeth bared in a feral, ruthless grin.

“Three centuries since I last cracked something with real marrow. If that heap of rotting meat thinks my nest is an open buffet, I’ll shovel my claws down its gullet until its belly bursts.”

I sprang upward, but the unfamiliar weight of my newly sprouted third tail threw off my center of gravity. I stumbled, catching myself on one knee against the warmed stone floor.

“Stay back, fox,” Ignis warned over her shoulder without turning. “You can barely support that new coat without your hocks trembling.

This isn't a game of seduction; pit monsters don't possess the brains to fall for sweet words.”

“Don't be a fool, lizard,” Carmilla cut in fiercely, her gaze never wavering from the smoking chasm.

“She is no porcelain doll.

She carries the blood of us both within her core.

If she does not learn how to kill with that body now, she will be nothing more than dead weight when we breach the final gate and face the surface knights.”

The vampire's words carried no cruelty; they were the unvarnished reality of our world.

I'm not going to be useless. Not anymore. I have power now.

I clenched my porcelain fists, feeling the razor edges of my claws bite into my palms. Sinking into a low, predatory crouch, I let my three silver tails fan out behind me like a war banner.

At the tip of the first danced cold spectral frost; along the second crackled golden embers of draconic fire; and from the third surged a hybrid tempest of violet and silver flame, humming with a voracious electrical frequency.

“I didn't claw my way out to watch from the sidelines,” I said, my voice cutting through the sulfurous air with an icy edge that made Ignis’s ears twitch.

“If we’re going to burn the capital together, I need to know how sharp my claws are.”

Ignis barked a rough laugh, clearly pleased by the insolence, while Carmilla inclined her head in silent approval.

CRACK!

The volcanic ledge overlooking the lower trench fractured down the center like an eggshell.

From the boiling green fog emerged a titanic nightmare. Spanning over ten meters across, the monstrosity was a repulsive mass of blackened muscle, fractured chitinous plates, and dozens of warped limbs resembling human arms fused with abyssal scorpion pincers.

Jutting from what passed for its upper torso, half a dozen horned skeletal heads gaped in manic fury, shrieking a deafening cacophony that rattled the stalactites overhead and vibrated straight through our skulls.

The Necrotic Golem of the Pit.

An ancient abomination forged across millennia from the corpses of millions of condemned souls and beasts discarded into the abyss during the First Realm’s arcane wars.

“Out of my way!” Ignis roared, rocketing forward like a living meteor of pure fire.

She cleared the chasm in a single leap. Her halberd cleaved through the air in an arc of molten slag, striking the beast’s carapace with a blinding eruption of sparks and a concussive shockwave that shook the cavern walls.

Two of the golem's pincers were severed instantly, tumbling into the magma lake in hissing plumes of black smoke.

Yet the abomination felt no mortal pain.

No... no, it's not going down that easily.

From the severed stumps burst a thicket of putrid tendrils and emerald acid, coiling around the shaft of Ignis's halberd to lock it in place.

Three massive club-like limbs rose in unison, poised to smash the dragon's skull into the bedrock.

“Vulgar filth! You goddamn piece of shit!”

The vampire bypassed direct impact. With an elegant flick of her hands, she wove an intricate, terrifying web of dark blood threads across the air.

The razor-thin filaments hissed through the fog, ensnaring the descending limbs and snapping taut with the tensile strength of tempered steel.

The crushing blow halted inches from Ignis's head.

“Now, Elina!” Carmilla shouted, her fangs fully extended, black veins pulsing beneath her porcelain temples as she strained against the titan's brute mass.

“Shatter the ocular cores! Don't let it recover!”

I drove off the stone, and the world slowed to a crawl.

I didn't run like Alan had in clunky iron-shod boots and stiff leather armor. My kitsune body moved across empty space, riding the thermal updrafts like a phantom.

My bare feet barely grazed the jagged outcrops before launching me skyward, my three tails balancing my momentum with supernatural grace.

Mid-leap, I invoked my merged magic for the first time.

[Spiritual Illusion: Three Queens of the Mist]

Three identical, silver-furred silhouettes split through the air, weaving divergent arcs around the aberration’s torso.

The six skeletal skulls whipped wildly, completely disoriented by the dancing embers of three tails reflecting across the cavern mist.

I dropped directly onto the beast's armored spine.

The stench of dissolved organs nearly choked me, but combat adrenaline—the familiar companion that had kept me breathing through years as an adventurer—flooded my veins with electric fury.

I buried the claws of my left hand into the joint between its chitinous plates to anchor myself, while gathering every scrap of mana my newly forged Rank D core could handle into my right palm.

This was no ordinary kitsune flame.

I drew Carmilla’s biting chill through my left arm, flash-freezing the golem’s carapace until it became brittle as spun glass. Simultaneously, I channeled Ignis’s volcanic furnace through my right fist, priming a catastrophic thermal shock directly over its necrotic marrow.

My three tails whipped forward, crowning my head in an arc of white, crimson, and golden fire.

“You thought this abyss was my grave?!” I screamed with feral fury.

I drove my fist straight down into the frozen plates.

BOOM!

The violent clash of absolute zero and draconic flame shattered the creature’s armor from within.

A concussive shockwave of spirit flame and black frost ripped through its corrupted vitals, spraying charred meat and razor-sharp chitin fragments across every corner of the cavern.

The golem let out a gurgling shriek, collapsing onto its fractured knees.

Capitalizing on the breach, Ignis wrenched her halberd free from the withered tendrils. With a savage twist of her muscular frame, she swung the blade in a decapitating arc, severing all six skeletal heads in a torrent of incandescent ash.

The headless colossus pitched forward, plunging into the lower trench and vanishing beneath the bubbling miasma with a heavy, sickening splash.

We had pulverized it into pulp.

Silence reclaimed the Great Rift.

I stood panting at the edge of the jagged precipice, chest heaving, bare skin bathed in a thin sheen of sweat.

Flecks of black ichor stained my porcelain thighs and the tips of my silver tails, which smoked gently as they drank in the ambient mana currents.

Soft footfalls sounded behind me.

Cool, slender fingers cupped my chin, turning my face toward the shadows.

Carmilla stood before me, her crimson eyes burning with feverish, intoxicating intensity. Without a word, she leaned down, the tip of her pale tongue tracing along my left cheekbone to lick away a stray droplet of black blood.

God, that felt incredible.

The shock of her cold tongue sent an electric jolt straight to my core, making my breath hitch as I bit my lower lip.

“An exquisite strike, my sweet vixen...” Carmilla purred against my mouth, fangs grazing my lips with starving possessiveness.

“You knew precisely where to strike to fracture the shell, didn't you? You smell of sulfur, winter frost, and fresh slaughter. A perfume that could easily drive me mad. You turn me on so damn much.”

Before I could reply, a broad, calloused hand wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling my back firmly against Ignis’s scale-armored chest.

The dragon’s searing body heat instantly chased the vampire's chill from my skin. Ignis buried her face into the curve of my neck, inhaling deeply as her thick, scaled tail wound possessively around my thighs. Get faster updates on novelping dot com.

“You fought like a vanguard drake,” Ignis rumbled with barbaric pride, catching my fox earlobe between her teeth until a helpless whimper escaped my throat.

“No circus tricks.

You cracked its core through pure hunter's instinct. From this day forward, no one in this pit will dare call you weak. You are utterly exquisite...”

Once again, I was pinned between them.

The lingering rush of the kill coursed through our veins like molten liquor. Danger, transformed into shared triumph, ignited a raw, territorial desire that consumed the last shred of composure in the sanctum.

Carmilla captured my lips with ravenous hunger, while Ignis’s burning hands roamed over my ribs and hips, melting away every ounce of physical resistance.

In the cavern gloom, sheltered by the dragon's heat and cooled by the vampire's breeze, all boundaries vanished. What followed across the silks and stone was an absolute, feverish surrender from all three of us: caresses that seared and chilled my kitsune skin, muffled cries swallowed by the cavern's echoes, and the binding of our three souls in a primal dance where the agony of my past dissolved beneath the weight of shared ecstasy.

It was an intoxicating, breathtaking release. Never in my former life as a man had I felt this incredible, this alive.

What a profoundly satisfying sensation.

Hours later, when their breathing evened out into restorative torpor, I slipped silently from their arms.

My body felt completely renewed. The marks across my skin no longer stung; they hummed with a stable, rhythmic resonance.

Their bodies had healed me completely, flooding my channels with pure, unyielding vitality.

The bone-deep exhaustion of earlier loops had been replaced by a dense, dangerous well of power.

I padded toward the edge of the ledge where the golem had collapsed.

On the basalt floor, among the severed remnants of an upper limb Ignis had cleaved away, something glinted beneath the magma's amber light.

It was neither a gemstone nor a piece of chitin.

I knelt, picking the object up with porcelain claws.

It was a circular metal plate, corroded by centuries of acid, yet its central engraving remained pristine.

I brushed away the clinging ash with my thumb.

Etched across the tarnished metal was an unmistakable crest: a phoenix with wings outspread above a sacred cross, ringed by seven stars.

The original insignia of the Holy Order of the Knights of Althea.

A cold weight dropped into the pit of my stomach.

This horror had not been born naturally from the depths of the abyss. It had worn the ceremonial crest of the capital's holy paladins.

The Holy Order had not merely entombed Carmilla and Ignis down here; they had used the abyss as a dumping ground, casting out their own corrupted, cursed knights to fester in the miasma until they mutated into ungodly abominations.

Those sanctimonious bastards.

The very saints crowning Lucas on the surface were the butchers who had sustained this subterranean nightmare for millennia.

The exact same pit they had thrown me into.

A dull metallic click echoed behind me.

I spun around.

Across the Great Rift, the second lock of the Abyssal Seal—the mechanism carved in the shape of a mirror split down the center—began to pulse with a pale azure light.

“What's happening now...?” I murmured.

This second shackle demanded no blood. Instead, an archaic voice, ancient as the bedrock beneath my bare feet, resonated directly within the chambers of my mind:

“The flesh has withstood the forge... yet the gate remains deaf to blind hearts.

Whosoever claims the key must descend into the abyss of another’s memory and drink the venom of primal trauma...”

The second lock demanded the sacrifice of their darkest secrets.

I glanced back toward the silks, where Carmilla slept with a faint furrow in her brow, as though chased by ancient nightmares in the dark, and where Ignis’s clawed hands twitched against the stone.

The true trial—the descent into the hearts of both monsters—was about to begin.
