Volume 1 Chapter 25: You Remember Me, Right?
Hearing Ruan Yu’s affirmative answer, Li Xuzhou’s heart melted into a puddle.
It was a bit like raising a little fox for a long time, and one day it suddenly brought a branch full of flowers, eagerly presenting it to its owner, occasionally nudging with its little nose, urging the owner to accept its heartfelt gift.
Li Xuzhou pinched her cheek and stood up: “After finishing the soup, we’ll go see the dentist.”
Ruan Yu’s gaze shifted back to the remaining chocolate on the table, her eyes full of hope.
The next second, the chocolate was mercilessly taken away and placed into Li Xuzhou’s pocket.
“No sweets until you’ve recovered.” Li Xuzhou served her the soup. Fortunately, the kitchen had prepared something light, otherwise it would only worsen her toothache.
Ruan Yu wasn’t someone who couldn’t distinguish priorities, so she obediently drank the soup.
The soup was savory, sweet, and light, making Ruan Yu squint her eyes in comfort as she savored the taste. Li Xuzhou sat beside her, reading the documents sent by Doctor Li, occasionally wiping the corner of her mouth. Due to the swelling of her teeth, some soup would sometimes uncontrollably trickle down her chin.
After a while, Ruan Yu remembered that Li Xuzhou had just asked if she was willing to share the chocolate with him, and her eating slowed down.
“Hmm?” Li Xuzhou knew she wasn’t full yet. “Is your tooth hurting too much? Let’s go to the hospital now.”
Ruan Yu shook her head, picked up the small bowl, and handed it to Li Xuzhou: “You drink some too.” Her eyes sparkled, as if asking for praise.
See, I’m willing to share food with you. Reward me with a piece of chocolate.
Li Xuzhou took a sip from her hand: “Good girl.”
Don’t be too adorable, or he might just give in and indulge her completely.
The driver contacted the doctor and drove them to the hospital. After the examination, the doctor quickly made a diagnosis.
“Too many sweets. There’s a small cavity at the very back of the tooth.” The doctor pointed to the dental X-ray. “Right here. Miss Ruan’s oral health is otherwise excellent, just this small cavity. It’s nothing serious; we’ll fill it right away.”
Before the filling, a younger female dentist took over. Ruan Yu lay on the dental chair, and as soon as she heard the sound of the drill, she flinched and cried out loudly: “Mr. Li!”
Li Xuzhou quickly walked over and held her hand: “Don’t be nervous.” Feeling her hand tremble slightly, he whispered, “Think about something else. How about deciding what to have for dinner?”
“No, I can’t think of anything else. I’m scared.” Ruan Yu’s voice was pitiful, and she instinctively shied away from the dentist’s approaching hand, completely unable to control herself.
The dentist had to pause the treatment and whispered to Li Xuzhou, “Say something to distract Miss Ruan, or she might get hurt.”
“Alright.”
The dentist didn’t give Ruan Yu much time to rest, knowing that the longer they waited, the greater her fear would become. Before starting, she gave Li Xuzhou a meaningful look.
Li Xuzhou understood and spoke slowly: “Ruan Yu, do you remember three years ago at the Muhua Hotel? Room 3904.”
Sure enough, Ruan Yu froze completely, motionless, not even reacting to the sound of the drill. When the dentist told her to open her mouth, she opened it; when told to rinse, she gargled obediently, behaving perfectly.
Li Xuzhou knew she was terrified.
Scared into a little quail, too afraid to move.
Poor thing.
Only when they were back in the car did Ruan Yu seem to snap out of it: “You remember me.”
The car hadn’t started yet. Seeing the situation, the driver tactfully stepped out to give them space to talk.
“I remember you. I recognized you from the first day,” Li Xuzhou faced her and explained, “That experience might not be a pleasant memory for you. I… didn’t dare bring it up presumptuously.”
It was almost laughable. Li Xuzhou, who controlled Hua Yang’s trillions in assets, handled contracts worth billions daily, made swift decisions with exceptional intelligence, and had a powerful family background to support him, had never been afraid to do anything before.
But facing Ruan Yu, he suddenly had many reservations. For every step she took, he had to consider a hundred steps ahead and behind.
All he asked was for her safety and happiness.
Li Xuzhou’s voice was terrifyingly hoarse: “You remember me too, don’t you?” He actively took her fingers, holding them between his own and gently rubbing them. “You remember my voice. Did I hurt you that day?”
Tears hung in Ruan Yu’s eyes. The explosive news had pushed her emotions to their peak. Unable to hold back, she leaned forward, almost pleading, “Kiss me, just one kiss, please.”
His scorching lips met her soft, damp ones, invading her sweet fortress like a conqueror, plundering all her sweetness, drawing her into his territory.
Ruan Yu was utterly inexperienced, easily lured in with just one touch.
As soon as she entered, she knew it was a mistake—nowhere to hide, forced to obediently endure his teasing. The man’s breathing grew increasingly feverish, each gasp making Ruan Yu tremble all over.
Though Ruan Yu stood nearly 1.7 meters tall, she now seemed pitifully small, locked tightly in the embrace of the tall man.
Her slender back pressed firmly against his solid chest, allowing her to clearly feel his powerful heartbeat.
“Thump, thump, thump.”
Each beat seemed to whisper sweet nothings. No, this couldn’t go on. Ruan Yu’s back softened like mud, her entire body melting into his kiss.
Gradually, Ruan Yu’s emotions calmed down amidst the kiss.
Tilting her head to kiss him, the prolonged contact inevitably grew sore. Just as she tried to turn away and break the kiss, Li Xuzhou’s palm held her in place, rendering her immobile.
She rubbed her calf against his pant leg in a placating gesture, struggling to speak between their lips and tongues: “Mmm… I… can’t breathe, need air.”
The man mercifully released her poor tongue, kissing her plump lip instead.
He had long wanted to hold this spot, to tease the girl until she whimpered softly, her shimmering gaze fixed only on him.
Ruan Yu’s entire face flushed red, increasingly aware that her earlier flirtations were child’s play to Li Xuzhou, while his current actions were the hallmark of an adult.
She couldn’t quite endure such an intense kiss. Tilting her head back with a soft whimper, Li Xuzhou finally took pity and released her.
He didn’t forget to massage her neck, his voice still hoarse: “Sorry, I lost control.”
If Ruan Yu’s lips weren’t already swollen and flushed from the kissing, she might have believed Li Xuzhou’s sincerity. But the sensation on her lips reminded her that the man before her was the most formidable hunter deep in the forest.
“Hmph.” Ruan Yu was too embarrassed to admit she had enjoyed it too, collapsing wordlessly into his embrace.
Unexpectedly, Li Xuzhou asked her again: “At the end three years ago, why were you crying? Was it uncomfortable?”
Ruan Yu also remembered the end of that night three years ago—her body drenched in sweat, her tears not from pain.
She would never tell the man the reason for her tears.
Big jerk!
