So Su Mingyi hurriedly lowered her voice and whispered into Su Mingyue’s ear, “Here’s what we can do… then we’ll do this… and finally, we’ll do that!”
After saying all this, as though she were afraid someone might overhear them, she couldn’t help letting out another “hee-hee” laugh.
After hearing Su Mingyi’s idea, Su Mingyue couldn’t help admiring her. As for exactly what Su Mingyi had come up with, well… all she could say was that it was a rather “flavorful” idea. Dear readers, you’d better not read this part while eating, or you might find yourselves feeling sick!
After several days had passed, Wang Daqiang would be released from the ancestral hall tomorrow.
Su Mingyi’s plan was to beat that bastard up first and give him a good thrashing to vent their anger. Then, they would throw him straight into the latrine like a piece of trash and let all that stinky filth thoroughly “wash” his filthy mouth!
Su Mingyue, who was standing nearby, was stunned for a moment when she heard this. Then a smile appeared in her eyes.
She said to Su Mingyi, “All right, we’ll do exactly as you say! But… the two of us probably can’t manage it on our own.”
Su Mingyi rolled her eyes at Su Mingyue, the disdain in her gaze practically overflowing.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she raised her chin and said confidently, “Oh, stop worrying about it! I’ll go ask our second brother for help later. With him and all his buddies, dealing with someone like Wang Daqiang will be a piece of cake. The two of us sisters can just stand to the side and watch the show!”
After saying that, Su Mingyi smugly raised an eyebrow at Su Mingyue, as though waiting for her to praise her.
Su Mingyue, however, merely stared at her speechlessly. After rolling her eyes dramatically, she turned around and walked into the house, muttering, “You’ve really thought of everything.”
Once inside, she put the eggs into the cabinet. Then she went out to the courtyard, washed her hands, and returned to the house.
Seeing this, Su Mingyi hurriedly followed her inside. She took the carefully organized study notes from her schoolbag and handed them to Su Mingyue, grinning as she said, “Little sister, see how much your big sister cares about you? I spent so much time putting these study notes together. You’d better study hard! Well? Don’t you think your big sister is especially amazing and wonderful now? Come on, call me ‘Big Sister’!”
Su Mingyue took the notes from her, completely ignoring what she had said, and began looking through the textbooks and notes.
Su Mingyi and Su Mingyue had originally been in the same class, both of them freshmen in high school. However, after the original owner’s parents passed away, she was worried that her younger brother would not be able to take care of her on his own, so she had requested to take a leave of absence from school.
At first, Grandma, Grandpa, Su Heping, and Zhou Hehua had all disagreed. But Su Mingyue had already made up her mind, and no matter how much anyone tried to persuade her, she refused to change it.
Su Heping and Zhou Hehua had originally wanted to take the siblings to live with them at the old family home, but Su Mingyue refused.
Su Xiangyang, after all, was already engaged and was going to get married this coming August. There was also Su Muyang, who was already eighteen and had already started meeting potential marriage matches. If he found someone suitable, he would probably be married within another year or two.
How could she possibly take her younger brother to live with her uncle’s family at a time like this?
So no matter how much Su Heping and Zhou Hehua tried to persuade her, Su Mingyue remained unwilling.
She had decided to take a leave of absence from school, work for work points, and support Su Qingfeng herself.
Since Su Heping and Zhou Hehua could not convince her, they had no choice but to let her have her way.
Thus, Su Mingyue officially took a leave of absence from school. However, Su Heping had spoken to someone at the high school and arranged things with the principal in advance. When the exams came around the following year, Su Mingyue would still be allowed to take them. As long as she passed, she would receive her graduation certificate.
Once she had her graduation certificate, Su Heping had some connections in town and could help Su Mingyue find a job that was not too physically demanding. The town was not far from the village either, so by then Su Mingyue would still be able to take care of things at home.
And that was why Su Mingyi had brought the study notes for Su Mingyue.
Su Mingyue first skimmed through the notes, then took out the questions she had not understood the previous week and asked Su Mingyi about them. Su Mingyi patiently explained each problem to her.
By the time they finished, the sky had already begun to darken.
Seeing that it was getting late, Su Mingyue put away the books and said to Su Mingyi, “It’s getting dark. We’ll study again tomorrow. Let’s make dinner now!”
Su Mingyi nodded and said, “I’ll tend the fire. You do the cooking.”
Su Mingyue nodded in agreement.
While the two of them had been studying, Su Qingfeng had already gotten up once. When he saw his two sisters studying, he did not disturb them. Instead, he played by himself in the courtyard.
When he saw the two of them come out of the house, he called out, “Sisters!”
The two of them answered him.
Su Mingyi then told Su Qingfeng to go back to the old family home and tell her mother that she would not be coming home for dinner because she was going to eat here. Then she went into the kitchen.
Su Qingfeng agreed and ran off.
By the time he returned, Su Mingyue and Su Mingyi had already finished preparing dinner.
Su Qingfeng was carrying a bowl of food and several steamed buns in his hands. He said that his aunt had given them to him.
Su Mingyue could only shake her head helplessly and said to Su Qingfeng, “Put them on the table for now. I’ll lift the lid off the pot and we’ll eat.”
After the three of them finished eating, they cleaned everything up and went to bed.
That’s right—Su Mingyi did not go home. Instead, she squeezed into the same bed with Su Mingyue.
The two sisters whispered together for a while, though most of the conversation consisted of Su Mingyi talking about things that had happened at school.
Only after Su Mingyi had finally fallen asleep did Su Mingyue let out a long, relieved breath.
This day had really worn her out.
On the one hand, she had to pretend to behave like the original owner. On the other, she had to let the people around her notice that she had changed somewhat—but not so much that the changes became suspicious.
It was suffocating!
The next day.
Su Mingyue and Su Mingyi hurriedly finished breakfast before taking Su Qingfeng back to the old family home.
As soon as they arrived, they sent Su Qingfeng off to play with his little friends.
Then the two sisters walked lightly over to Su Muyang.
Su Muyang was completely absorbed in whatever he was working on. Su Mingyi and Su Mingyue exchanged a glance before speaking in unison.
“Second Brother, what are you busy with?”
Hearing their voices, Su Muyang raised his head and looked at his two younger sisters. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly into an indulgent smile, but he deliberately put on a stern expression as he asked, “What do you two want? If you’ve got something to say, just say it. Don’t beat around the bush! Your brother is busy!”
Then his gaze fell upon Su Mingyue, filled with concern.
He asked gently, “Mingyue, how’s the injury on your head? It’s all because I wasn’t home these past few days. If I’d been here, I would’ve already given that little bastard Wang Daqiang a good beating!”
Hearing Su Muyang’s concerned words, Su Mingyue smiled and replied, “Don’t worry, Second Brother. My head is much better now. But…”
Before she could finish, Su Mingyi eagerly interrupted from the side.
