“Oh my goodness! Good heavens! So it really was Wang Daqiang who pushed Su Mingyue down! You have no idea—the wound on Mingyue’s head was absolutely terrifying when we found her yesterday. Blood was pouring out like a burst dam!” A middle-aged woman described the scene in vivid detail, as though she had witnessed it herself.

Another older woman beside her quickly chimed in, “Exactly! I saw it too. It was absolutely horrifying! Who would have thought that Wang Daqiang was the one who did it? He usually looks like such an honest, well-behaved boy!”

At this point, an elderly man in the crowd shook his head and sighed. “As the saying goes, you can tell what a person will be like when they grow up from how they behave as a child. Just look at Wang Daqiang. He’s only a teenager, yet his heart is already so vicious, and he can be so ruthless. If he keeps going down this path, he’ll definitely become someone nobody dares to provoke once he grows up!”Full novel: Interstellar Female General in the 1960s — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The others nodded in agreement. Someone said worriedly, “Everyone had better warn your own children and make sure they don’t go play with Wang Daqiang. What if they accidentally anger him and he does something this vicious again? What would we do if he hurt our children?”

“That’s right, that’s right! We really have to be careful! Wang Aiguo usually looks like such an honest, decent man. Who would have thought he’d raise such a vicious son? Sigh…” The crowd let out another round of sighs and murmurs.

Standing to the side, Wang Aiguo’s expression grew increasingly ugly. He secretly lamented, This is just great. All the reputation I worked so hard for over so many years has been completely ruined by that good-for-nothing little bastard, Daqiang! How is Daqiang ever going to find a good wife after this?

The moment Old Madam Su heard Wang Daqiang admit it himself, she exploded like a barrel of gunpowder. She sprang to her feet, waving her arms as she charged furiously toward Wang Daqiang.

She cursed nonstop, “Well, look at you, you little bastard! So you finally admit it! You had the nerve to stubbornly deny that you did it just now. Just wait! I’m going to teach you, you heartless, rotten little bastard, a proper lesson today. I’ll beat you until your skin is torn and bruised and make sure you remember this!”

However, just as Old Madam Su was about to strike Wang Daqiang, his mother, Guihua, reacted quickly. She rushed forward and spread her arms, blocking Old Madam Su.

Guihua said unhappily, “Auntie, those are some pretty harsh words! My Daqiang already said that he truly didn’t do it on purpose. Why can’t you be a little more reasonable? Besides, he’s only a half-grown boy. What could he possibly understand? It really isn’t appropriate for you to hit him like this, is it?”

At that moment, Zhou Hehua, Su Heping’s wife, was standing nearby. Seeing her mother-in-law being stopped by the Wang family’s daughter-in-law, and then hearing the shameless excuse she made, anger immediately flared up inside her.

Without saying another word, she strode forward and reached out with one thick, powerful hand. Like an eagle snatching up a chick, she suddenly grabbed Wang Guihua and yanked her over.

As she dragged her, she cursed, “Bah! He didn’t do it on purpose? Who’s going to believe that? He’s already this old—what doesn’t he understand? Stop making excuses for your son!”

Because Zhou Hehua had pulled so forcefully, there was a sharp smack. Caught completely off guard, Wang Guihua lost her balance and was yanked forward.

She had no choice but to release the hand that had been tightly gripping Old Madam Su and turn her full attention toward the formidable woman in front of her—Zhou Hehua. After all, Zhou Hehua was well known for being fierce and difficult to deal with. She was certainly no ordinary opponent.

With the Wang family’s daughter-in-law no longer holding her back, Old Madam Su quickly rushed toward Wang Daqiang. Before Old Madam Wang could recover, she raised both hands and viciously clawed at Wang Daqiang’s chubby face.

In an instant, several deep finger marks appeared across Wang Daqiang’s face, followed by a fierce, burning pain.

“Yowww!” Wang Daqiang let out a miserable scream that rang through the entire area. The sudden cry was like a thunderclap from a clear sky, successfully snapping Old Madam Wang out of her distraction nearby.

Hearing the scream, Old Madam Wang hurried over. When she saw her precious grandson being beaten by Old Madam Su, fury surged through her.

Without another word, she charged toward Old Madam Su like an enraged lion, cursing furiously as a stream of vile insults poured from her mouth.

After a fierce argument and a great deal of pushing and shoving, Old Madam Wang finally managed, with tremendous effort, to rescue her beloved grandson from Old Madam Su’s vicious clutches.

She anxiously pulled Wang Daqiang toward her and carefully examined his injuries. She had no idea just how bad they were until she looked. The sight made her heart ache terribly. His once fair and clean little face was now covered with crisscrossing bloody scratches, one on the left and another on the right, making him look frighteningly battered.

Old Madam Wang’s heart broke for him. She kept calling him her precious grandson while cursing Old Madam Su for being cruel and vicious, all the while wiping the blood from Wang Daqiang’s face.

Fortunately, Wang Daqiang still had at least a little conscience and did not strike back at Old Madam Su. Perhaps Su Heping’s earlier stern and authoritative warning had frightened him enough that he did not dare act recklessly. In any case, the commotion finally came to a temporary end with Old Madam Su gaining the upper hand.

Seeing that his side had gained the advantage, Su Heping called his wife over and told her to stop hitting them. Wang Aiguo looked at the miserable state of his wife and son. He felt heartbroken, but at the same time he was furious with his son for causing him trouble. He was also angry at his wife for being so incapable that she could even lose a fight. However, he certainly did not dare to pick a fight with the brigade leader.

Wang Aiguo was the sort of man who was domineering only at home. Although he appeared honest and mild-mannered in public, behind closed doors he often beat his wife. Whenever something displeased him, he would beat her to vent his anger.

But he was good at keeping up appearances outside, and Wang Guihua often defended him in public as well, so the villagers had no idea about this side of Wang Aiguo.

Su Heping hurriedly called his wife back and stopped her from continuing to fight. Then he turned around and looked sternly at Wang Aiguo.

“Since your Daqiang has already admitted it himself, this matter cannot simply be brushed aside. Mingyue’s injuries are not minor! Yesterday, we took her to the clinic. We had her wound bandaged, bought medicine, and even had her put on an IV. Altogether, it cost two yuan. Your Wang family must pay for that medical expense!”
