The other members of the combat-type group also stated the weapons they were most familiar with.

Aside from Yan Chixi’s twin blades, Yan Zhou used a standard long sword. Yang Qi surprisingly used a war hammer. Markaro was not as strong in close combat and preferred firearms and artillery. Wang Yelin said he wanted a pair of gauntlets, preferably with a weight-increasing function similar to the blade Jiang Tian used.

After everyone finished speaking, they all looked at Ke Yunyao with bright, expectant eyes.Full novel: Interstellar: The Mech Designer Is a Bit [Socially Anxious] — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Is that possible?”

She couldn’t help swallowing nervously and leaned back slightly. “It should… be fine, but it might not be that fast.”

“It’s okay, it’s okay. Take your time!” Yan Chixi immediately said.

Thinking about his dearly missed war hammer, Yang Qi—despite his usually quiet personality—quickly agreed as well. “Yes, yes, take your time! No rush, we’ll stay here this afternoon!”

Yan Zhou also nodded.

Markaro and Wang Yelin didn’t want to fall behind either and quickly followed suit.

Vashi looked at these teammates who were completely focused on weapons, then glanced at Ke Yunyao, who seemed a little overwhelmed by their enthusiasm, and couldn’t help but laugh. He quickly stepped forward.

“Alright, alright, you guys go patrol the surrounding area. Let Yunyao work in peace.”

Yan Chixi and Yan Zhou exchanged glances. Their captain was right—they needed to ensure a quiet and stable environment for the mecha engineer so she could properly forge their weapons.

With that thought, they dispersed and took positions around the perimeter.

Duan Yang and Jiang Tian looked at each other, then at Vashi. What about them? How were they supposed to be assigned?

After everyone left, Ke Yunyao finally let out a long breath. That was terrifying.

Seeing her expression, Vashi turned his head slightly, pressing his lips together to hold back a smile.

When he turned back, his expression had already returned to normal. “Yunyao, go ahead and work.”

He was about to leave when Ke Yunyao glanced at him and, after a moment of hesitation, called out, “Captain, you haven’t said what weapons you want yet.”

“Hmm?” Vashi paused.

“Can you manage it? There are so many people. Will your spiritual energy be exhausted in one afternoon?”

They didn’t have spiritual recovery potions here. If she overused her spiritual energy, that would be a serious problem.

Ke Yunyao could hear the concern hidden in his words. She wasn’t usually resistant to people who showed her goodwill.

At this moment, she looked at him firmly and replied, “Don’t worry, I won’t force myself. Just let them tell me first; I’ll do them in order. If I can finish them, I will. If not, we’ll continue tomorrow.”

Vashi smiled slightly. He suddenly realized that although Ke Yunyao wasn’t good at social interaction, she had a confident and proud side when it came to her professional field.

“Alright, then I’ll leave it to you. Just give me a standard energy gun-type weapon,” he said. As a commander, he was better suited to ranged combat.

Ke Yunyao nodded, then looked at Duan Yang and Meng Lingling. “What about you two?”

Even though she didn’t really like Meng Lingling, they were still teammates, so she would do what was necessary.

“I want something like a hoe,” Duan Yang said, thinking of Jiang Tian’s blade and blurting out his wish.

Ke Yunyao paused for a second, visibly surprised. “A hoe?”

“Yes, yes, just a hoe!”

He had wanted one for a long time, but no one had ever been able to fulfill such a request before—or rather, he had never had the chance to have a mecha engineer custom-make something for him.

Now that Ke Yunyao was offering customization, his heart started racing.

He looked at her with dog-like earnest eyes. “Is that okay?”

Although Ke Yunyao found it strange, she knew what a hoe looked like. It wasn’t impossible.

So she agreed. “Alright, I’ll try to make one for you.”

Duan Yang immediately jumped up in excitement, barely managing to suppress a scream so as not to attract anything unwanted.

His face turned red from the struggle.

Ke Yunyao stared at him blankly. Seriously? That much?

Vashi: another one lost it.

He sighed helplessly and ordered, “Jiang Tian, take Duan Yang and go patrol with Yan Zhou and the others.”

“Alright!” Jiang Tian shook his head helplessly and dragged Duan Yang away.

Seriously, couldn’t they learn from him?

Duan Yang and Yan Zhou: as if you weren’t the one acting overly attentive during lunch grilling meat.

Ke Yunyao then looked at the last person. Meng Lingling flinched. She didn’t dare make things difficult for Ke Yunyao; everyone seemed almost fanatic about getting weapons. At this point, if she asked for something excessive, she might not get any benefit at all.

So she stammered, “I… I’ll take the same as the captain.”

Anyway, her combat ability wasn’t strong, and she wouldn’t be at the front line. If there were star beasts, she would just provide support fire from the back.

Ke Yunyao nodded. “Alright.”

After confirming everyone’s weapon requests, Vashi left to give her space.

Right now, weapons were the top priority.

Even though they could handle star beasts of similar level barehanded, breaking through their hides was difficult. The higher the beast’s level, the tougher its body became. Fighting barehanded would take too long and consume too much stamina.

With weapons, it was completely different.

So Ke Yunyao could not be disturbed.

Meng Lingling also understood this and behaved herself. After all, higher team scores meant higher personal points—no one would reject that.

Ke Yunyao took out all the ores and began sorting them according to requirements, carefully planning how to allocate them so they wouldn’t run short.

In addition to ores, she also took out the medicinal plants she had collected along the way, which also needed careful consideration.

From a distance, Vashi watched her and suddenly rubbed his chin, sending a message to the others: [Half of you stay, half go nearby to look for medicinal plants.]

The others were confused at first, but then Vashi followed up: [It’s related to your weapons.]

They immediately remembered that during Ke Yunyao’s previous weapon forging, she had added two medicinal plants into the ores. Realizing this, they quickly agreed.

After discussing, those who didn’t understand medicinal plants—Yang Qi, Yan Chixi, and Vashi himself—stayed behind, while the others went to search.

Yan Zhou didn’t understand either, but Meng Lingling insisted that Yan Zhou stay close to protect her, so he also went along.
