” Uwahh~” Kevin yawned as he regained consciousness.
He gradually sat up straight, he turned towards the window, the light and positin of the sun told him that it was already nearing evening.
To think he’d slept for that long.
Perhaps the fact that he’d indirectly taken a life beared down on him more than he knew.
‘ I need to get up.’ he said to himself, he got up and headed to the bathroom before coming out after washing his face a bit.
Brrr~ Brrr~
Kevin had his towel to his face, wiping his hair when his phone suddenly began ringing.
‘ I wonder who it could be?’ He raised a brow.
He reached the bed before picking up the phone, to see on caller ID.
Paul…
” Hello?” He said after picking.
” Evening Sir, I was just wondering if you’d like me to come over and get the papers signed.” Paul said on the other line.
” You’re done already?” Kevin said suprised, he didn’t think it’d be that easy, but he hadn’t bought a house before this so it stood to reason.
” Yes Sir.” Paul replied.
” Alright, I’ll send you the address of where I’m currently staying.” He said before cutting the call.
Kevin then typed his address and sent it as text to him.

Some time later, Paul was already over with the necessary documents.
” Just sign there and there.” Paul said while leaning forward.
Kevin sat on the bed, the documents he needed to sign on a wooden stool, a pen in his hand.
After signing, he leaned back.
” That’s about it, Sir.” Paul said as he took the documents he needed before handing the rest to him, along with the deed to the house.
” Here’s the key to the abode, Sir.” Paul handed him the house keys, all prepared before hand.
Kevin nodded and took them.
” Since everything’s done, I’ll be excusing myself now, Sir, once more, thank you for choosing our agency.” Paul said professionally before leaving.
Once alone, the room turned silent again.
Kevin stared at the key, he’d expected something more but he felt nothing much in the end, it really just seemed like he’d bought another item off the market.
Brr~ Brr~ Brr~
His phone started ringing again all of a sudden.
‘ Did he forget something?’ Kevin wondered.
The ID showed an unknown number which left him curious, nevertheless, he still picked up.
” Evening, Might I know who this is?”
” Ahem..
Good Evening Sir, it’s the Auto shop calling, We’d like to let you know we’re done fixing your vehicle.
The BMW M4.”
” Oh.” Kevin was stunned for a moment before a smile came to his face.
” That’s splendid, thanks for letting me know, I’ll be down there shortly to get it.” Kevin said, after talking a bit more with the mechanic, he ended the call.
” Am I on some kind of lucky stroll?
It’s been nothing but one good thing after another.” Kevin said to Jim while smiling.
He quickly got dressed before heading downstairs, where he terminated his stay at the hotel before hailing a cab and heading for the mechanic shop.
The house he bought was already furnished so he didn’t need to worry about that.

” Thank you again.” Kevin waved goodbye as he drove out of the auto shop.
Feeling the purr of his car as he drove down the road, he couldn’t help sinking back into his chair.
He really missed this feeling, a feeling those simple cabs could never give him.
Since he had nothing else on his schedule for the night, Kevin decides to stop by a drive through to get something to eat.
After that, he drove on, stopping at a traffic light on route to his home.
‘ Hmm?’ But across the street, he couldn’t help but notice someone having some trouble.
Once the lights turned green, Kevin drove ahead but then turned around before stopping next to the person.
He parked his car beside them before getting out.
” Excuse me, do you need some help there miss?” He asked as he calmly approached her.
The person in question was a girl he’d never seen before, with bags beneath her eyes, dressed in a monochromatic attire while looking frustrated at her bicycle.
” Huh?” The girl turned around when she noticed someone behind her.
” I see you’ve got yourself a flat, mind if I helped?” He said, one hand in his pocket with his car key in the other.
The girl squinted her eyes, furrowing her brows.
She turned away from him.
” I’m fine so hurry on along.
I can manage just fine on my own.” The girl said unceremoniously with her back to him.
‘ What’s her problem?’ Kevin was a bit taken aback from her remark.
” You sure?
I could just drive you to where you need to go, you seem to be heading down that way, which is exactly where I’m heading–”
” Listen buddy, I told you I’m perfectly fine, are your ears deaf or something.” She turned her head around to glare at him.
” What?
You think I’m some damsel in distress in need of saving?” She clicked her tongue in displeasure before getting up and walking towards him.
” W-What in the?” Kevin stiffened when she lifted him off the ground with one arm.
” I’m not going to tell you again, leave now before I really get angry.” She said in an unfriendly tone.
” Ok, Ok, just put me down.” Kevin finally gave in.
The girl scoffed before tossing him aside.
Kevin winced as he fell to the pavement.
The girl on the other hand didn’t spare him another glance, instead she lifted her bic onto her shoulder before walking ahead.
” Rotten perv…” But as she left, he heard her mutter this beneath her breath.
‘ That girls definitely trouble.’ Kevin grumbled as he watched her go.
He eventually got up before dusting himself off and walking back to his car..
He slouched onto the driver’s seat, letting out a sigh.
CRACKLE~ CRACKLE~
” Well that doesn’t look good…” Kevin muttered at the sound of lightning in the air, he stared outside to see the sky beginning to darken.
Shaking his head, he started his car and drove on.

By the time he reached the next light, the rain was already pouring down heavily.
‘ Thank goodness I got the car back in time.’ Kevin let out a sigh before turning on his head lights and windshield wipers.
” You’ve got to be kidding me…” When his eyes caught a glimpse of his rearview mirror, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows.
Slam!
Kevin got out of the car before walking onto the sidewalk..
” You again?” Mia frowned when he stood to block her.
” Would you please just get in.” Kevin said, looking annoyed.
Back then he didn’t really think much about her walking away, but now that he still saw her braving this heavy cold rain without even waiting for it to stop he just couldn’t sit still.
Her braving the rain meant she didn’t have the money to afford transport, or at least was too stubborn to.
” In case you’re unaware, what you’re doing is a form of sexual harassment–”
” Call it whatever you want, at least get in first.
If you’re that worried, then why don’t you drive instead.”
” Here!” Kevin tossed his keys over to her.
Which she unconsciously caught before giving him a strange stare.
” There, are you happy now?
Please just get in before you catch a cold.” Kevin said, looking genuinely worried.
Everyone around her were busy taking transport or waiting yet here she was being so stubborn, he just couldn’t stand it.
Mia was silent for awhile, yet she still didn’t stop looking him over, in the end, she clicked her tongue in annoyance before walking towards his car.
Seeing this, Kevin let out a sigh of relief.
” Let me help you with that.” He said as he followed after her.

” Drive.” After helping her place her bic in his boot, she tossed the car keys back at him.
Kevin was surprised but he then nodded.
The both of them got in before he started the car and they drove along.
Kevin simply kept his eyes on the road while Mia’s eyes continued to remain on him.
” Just what is it with you anyway?” She finally spoke after awhile, she found it strange that he didn’t once turn to her or say anything during the drive so she spoke.
” I don’t understand?” He replied, turning towards her for a moment.
” I mean why were you so insistent on trying to get me to come into your car.”
” Because you wouldn’t wait for the rain to stop and I was worried you’d catch a cold?” He replied, confused.
” Wait…
That’s it?” She said, taken aback and suspicious.
” What more reason could I need?
For a girl you sure are stubborn you know that?” He couldn’t help saying.
” And what’s that supposed to mean.” She glared at him.
” Nothing Nothing, forget I said anything.” He said defensively.
” Hmph.” She turned her gaze away.
The car turning silent once more.

” That’s my house, you can stop me there.” She said at one point.
” That’s your house?” He said, suprised.
” What?
any problem?” She turned towards him with an unfavourable look.
” None at all.” He said before pulling into the driveway next door.
” Hey, what are you doing, I said the next house, not this one.”
” And I heard you…
Geezer, could you keep quiet for once.” He said as he looked backward while turning his car around to park into the driveway from the back.
Once he parked properly, he let out a sigh of relief.
Feeling her flare still on him, he decided to speak up.
” Believe it or not, I live here.” He said before getting out.
” What?” She muttered, taken aback.
Kevin took out her bicycle from the boot before handing it to her as she stepped out.
” Here.” He said.
She took the bicycle, eyeing him strangely, before walking towards her house.
But then she suddenly stopped before turning around.
‘ What now?
Is she still upset or something?’ Kevin groaned inwardly.
” What’s your name.” She said, surprising him.
” Umm Kevin?” He replied.
” Since we’ll be neighbours from now on, call me Mia.” She said.
” Oh..
Alright.” He replied.
She didn’t say anything further, instead turning around and heading towards her home.
He watched her knock on the door, before hearing a relieved voice from the doorway, though he couldn’t see who it was inside.
After she went in, he took out the take out he’d bought from the drive through before heading into his own home as well.
