The sky above The Bone-Grave didn’t turn dark as dusk approached—it turned a bruised, swirling violet.

A low, resonant thrum rattled the teeth in Valen’s skull.

It wasn’t a sound heard through the ears, but a vibration felt directly in the marrow of his spine.Full novel: Isekai Overseer: Reign of the Behemoth — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

[WARNING: DREAM-SURGE IMMINENT]

[Titan Subconscious Activity: Spike Detected]

[Environmental Hazard: Mass Hallucinatory Waves / Flesh Reanimation]

[Time Remaining: 00:12:04]

“Move those fuel lines!” Valen’s voice barked across the central square.

The citizens, buoyed by the return of clean water, worked with frantic efficiency.

Under Valen’s direction, Karen and a dozen blacksmiths were assembling the newly unlocked Basic Marrow-Pump System.

Thick, brass-fitted hoses made from cured Titan-gut ran from the deep marrow wells directly into four heavy iron nozzles mounted along the settlement’s inner wall.

[Constructing: Basic Marrow-Pump System]

[Materials: 100kg Scrap Brass, 4 Barrels Refined Marrow, 150 System Energy]

[Status: 92% Complete]

“It’s hooked up, My Lord!” Karen shouted over the rising hum, wiping sweat and grease from her forehead.

“If we prime the pressure valves, we can spray high-pressure marrow-fuel straight from the well!”

“Prime it now,” Valen ordered, his eyes tracking the purple aura bleeding through the clouds.

Before Karen could turn the valve, a shudder ripped through the stone beneath their feet.

A sickening crack echoed across the plaza as a graveyard of butchered Titan tissue—discarded decades ago in a pit near the eastern wall—began to twist and knit together.

Unrefined nerve energy poured out of the ground.

The pile of rotting meat and calcified bones lurched upward, coalescing into a grotesque, ten-foot-tall mass of fusing limbs and snapping jaws.

[HOSTILE DETECTED: Abomination – Corpse-Mass (Tier 1)]

[Health: 450/450]

[Trait: Unstable Regeneration / Hallucinatory Aura]

Panic shattered the crowd.

Workers dropped their tools, screaming as the purple haze washed over them, triggering vivid, terrifying visions.

Several miners collapsed, clutching their heads in agony.

“Hold the line!” Marcus, the veteran miner, roared.

He grabbed a heavy iron shield and a pickaxe, stepping directly between the advancing beast and the marrow-pump setup.

“Don’t let it near the valves!”

The Corpse-Mass bellowed—a sound like a dozen dying men screaming in unison—and lunged.

Marcus raised his shield, bracing for impact.

The beast’s main appendage, a club-like mass of fused thigh bones, slammed down with crushing force.

The iron shield buckled instantly.

Marcus was thrown backward, landing heavily near the base of the pump.

He didn’t get up.

His left arm was pinned beneath the mangled iron, twisted at a horrific, unnatural angle.

“Marcus!” Karen cried out, reaching for her wrench.

“Stay at the pump!” Valen commanded.

Valen surged forward, the System in his right hand flaring blindingly bright.

[Metabolic Pulse: Overdrive]

[System Energy Expended: 30]

Valen closed the distance in seconds.

As the Corpse-Mass raised its limb to crush Marcus, Valen lunged beneath the blow, driving his palm directly into the center of the creature’s pulsating nerve core.

[Diagnostic Vision: Core Neural Node Located]

[Executing Neural Shock]

Purple lightning arc’d from Valen’s hand into the monster’s flesh.

The creature stiffened, its neural connections violently disrupted by Valen’s System override.

It collapsed into a lifeless heap of melting tissue and inert bone.

[Hostile Neutralized: +80 System Energy]

The Dream-Surge’s energy slowly dispersed, the violet sky fading back into a dull, twilight gray.

Valen dropped to one knee beside Marcus.

The old miner was pale, gasping for air.

His left arm from the elbow down was completely crushed—bone fragments pierced through ruined flesh, bleeding heavily.

[Diagnostic Vision: Patient Marcus]

[Status: Critical Trauma / Irreversible Muscle & Bone Destruction]

[Fatal Bleeding in: 3 Minutes]

“My Lord…” Marcus wheezed, his teeth stained red.

“Can’t…

cut coal with one hand…”

“Keep quiet,” Valen said calmly.

He called up the System interface.

[CRITICAL DECISION]

[Option A: Amputate Arm (Survival Rate: 35%, Permanent Disability)]

[Option B: Perform Titan-Graft – ‘Ossified Bone-Shield Arm’ (System Assisted)]

[Graft Compatibility: 88%]

[Cost: 100 System Energy / 1x Calcified Plate Fragment]

“Karen!

Bring me a slab of refined bone-plate from the forge.

Now!” Valen commanded.

Karen ran, returning seconds later with a dense, shimmering piece of calcified Titan bone.

Valen placed it over Marcus’s shattered forearm and slammed his glowing right hand over the wound.

[Initiating System-Assisted Graft Surgery]

[Suppressing Biological Rejection…

0% Failure Chance]

A harsh, sizzling sound filled the air.

Marcus cried out, his muscles tensing as the System broke down the shattered human bone and fused the Titan’s dense, calcified structure directly into his nervous and skeletal systems.

The grey bone-plate melted like wax, wrapping around his arm, forming a hardened, seamless gauntlet of living armor with blade-like bone ridges along the forearm.

Within thirty seconds, the bleeding stopped.

The wound closed cleanly around the seam of the new graft.

[GRAFT SUCCESSFUL]

[Subject: Marcus]

[Upgrade: Ossified Bone-Shield Arm (Tier 1)]

[Effects: +15 Physical Defense, +10 Strength, Integrated Bone Armor]

[Loyalty (Marcus): 100/100 (Absolute Devotion)]

Marcus sat up, breathing heavily.

He flexed his new left arm.

The bone-plated appendage responded instantly, humming with a faint, contained power.

He stared at his new arm, then looked up at Valen with wide, tear-filled eyes.

He dropped to one knee, smashing his grafted arm against his chest in a crisp military salute.

“My arm…

my life…

they belong to you, Lord Valen,” Marcus swore, his voice trembling with awe.

Before Valen could answer, the heavy wooden doors at the perimeter gate rattled.

A bloodied scout burst through, collapsing near the plaza.

“My Lord!” the scout wheezed, clutching a torn shoulder.

“It’s Captain Kael!

He didn’t flee to the coast…

he joined the Dust-Skull Bandits!

They’re two miles out—over fifty armed men!

They saw the smoke from our fires and they’re coming to slaughter us and take the marrow wells!”

Valen stood up, wiping Marcus’s blood from his sleeves.

He looked at the newly operational Marrow-Pump, then at Marcus’s gleaming bone arm, and finally at the gathered crowd who no longer looked panicked, but ready.

“Let them come,” Valen said softly, a dark smile playing at the edge of his lips.

“We need the target practice.”
