Six days until I walked down the aisle.

Six days until I became Liam’s wife.

Six days until everything changed.

For a week, we’d been shopping—malls, boutiques, bridal stores—every place that sold something shiny or lace-covered or wedding-appropriate.

Liam had been there, of course, always smiling, always perfect.

But my brothers?

They’d been ghosts.

Busy.

Distant.

Avoiding me.

And it hurt.

I genuinely wanted my brothers to be with me during my wedding preparations, but neither kuya Percy nor kuya Aries were with me.

I have barely talked to them in this week, it’s like they were hurt and trying not to explode any moment.

Like they were genuinely trying not to say something that will hurt me.

I haven’t even met Keifer after that interaction in my room.

And I am 100% sure, my brothers are busy with Keifer.

Something big, darling .

The same words suddenly echoed behind my ears.

Keifer’s exact word.

So are my brothers also planning something big.

No , Jay, your brothers are just busy, but they are happy with my wedding, aren’t they?

I remember, during our childhood, how this 2 idiots were always against my wedding, they thought being married means I will be taken away from them.

And yet, as I stood in front of my brothers’ door, my knuckles hovering over the wood, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d already lost something irreplaceable.

I hesitated, then knocked.

The door swung open before I could pull my hand back, revealing two faces I knew better than my own.

Percy’s grin was immediate, too bright, too forced.

“Baby sistah! You missed my handsome face, didn’t you?”

I rolled my eyes, “Don’t flattered yourself, kuya” though it had lost it’s usual bite.

Before I could react, he launched himself at me, wrapping me in a hug so tight I could barely breathe.

I laughed—should have laughed—but it felt wrong.

Off.

Like he was trying too hard to be Percy, the joker, the brother who never took anything seriously.

But his arms were tense.

His voice had an edge.

And when I pulled back, his smile didn’t reach his eyes.

Aries was worse.

He sat on the edge of his bed, setting down a stack of files—files—like he’d been working instead of, I don’t know, existing.

His voice was careful.

Controlled.

“What’s up, princess?”

I swallowed.

I don’t know why, but everything they are doing now somehow sounds…forced, like they are trying to hard to hide something just to watch me smile.

I stepped inside, my throat tight.

“Did I—” My voice cracked.

“Did I hurt you?”

The words hung in the air, heavy and raw.

Percy and Aries exchanged a glance—that glance, the one they’d perfected over years of being a united front against the world.

Then Percy was pulling me toward the bed, sandwiching me between them like they used to when we were kids and I’d had a nightmare.

Aries’ thumb traced slow circles on the back of my hand.

“No, princess. Why would you think that?”

Percy nudged my shoulder, his voice half-teasing, half-something else.

“Do you really think you could hurt your most handsome brother, baby sistah?”

I wanted to believe them.

I tried.

But the tears came anyway, hot and traitorous.

“Then—then why have you been ignoring me?” My voice broke.

“It feels like… like you don’t love me anymore.”

Aries’ arms tightened around me.

“Jay.”

Percy’s playfulness vanished.

“Baby sistah—”

“I know something’s wrong,” I whispered.

“You’re hiding something. And—and it’s because of me.”

Silence.

Then Aries sighed, pressing his forehead to mine.

“You could never hurt us, princess. We’re just…” He hesitated.

“Everything’s happening so fast. We’re still processing.”

Percy’s voice lost its usual lilt.

“We are happy for you, Jay. We are. But—” He cut himself off, his jaw tightening.

“Just be careful, okay?”

I pulled back, searching their faces.

Aries looked haunted.

Percy looked like he was planning a war.

It’s still hard to see kuya Percy like this.

When he is serious, it means I really need to follow his route.

And then it again hit me.

Keifer.

Something big, darling.

His words from that night in my room echoed in my skull.

They’re really planning something.

But what?

Then another realisation hit me.

I look into their eyes.

” I didn’t actually meant that.”

“We know Jay. You won’t say like that in your sleep also. So we understand it.” Aries said, pulling back to wipe my tears.

” Now stop crying, we are always for your betterment only”

Percy suddenly exploded into motion, pacing the room like a caged animal.

“BABY SISTAH, NO. You can’t cry! It’ll ruin your pretty face!”

Aries and I blinked.

Percy was already rummaging through drawers, muttering to himself.

“Eyemask first—no, facemask—no, ice—where’s the ice—”

Aries and I burst out laughing.

Percy whirled on us, offended.

“WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING?”

I wiped at my tears—laughing tears, now—and gasped, “Percy, relax—the world isn’t ending because I cried!”

Aries grinned, the first real smile I’d seen from him in days.

“Yeah, drama king. She’s fine.”

Percy huffed, but the tension in his shoulders eased.

“Fine. But we’re fixing this.” He pointed at me.

“Salon. Now. Move.”

Aries rolled his eyes but didn’t argue.

And just like that, the weight in the room lifted

We spent the day like we used to—laughing, bickering, dragging each other into stores we had no business being in.

Percy tried on hideous neon sunglasses and demanded I take a photo “for blackmail purposes.”

Aries bought me a ridiculous stuffed unicorn “to remember this day” and then immediately regretted it when I hugged it like a shield.

We ate too much ice cream.

We pretended everything was normal.

And for the first time in weeks, I breathed.

This…this was the bond I missed the most.

But beneath the laughter, beneath the sibling banter, there was a current of something.

Aries’ phone buzzed constantly.

He’d glance at it, his expression darkening before forcing a smile back on his face.

Percy’s jokes had an edge, like he was trying too hard to keep the mood light.

And not once—not once—did they mention Keifer.

Or Liam.

Or the wedding.
