KEIFER’s POV

The moment I heard that sweet, familiar laugh, I looked up, and time froze.

I forgot how to breathe.Full novel: JAYFER – The Shadow’s Love — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

There she stood, Jay, in a dangerous crimson dress.

She looked hot, breathtaking.

Her laugh filled the room in an instant.

My eyes went dark, predatory.

I looked her from head to toe.

It wasn’t the usual Jay.

Her hairstyle was perfectly made, her makeup light yet beautiful, her dress—short till mid-thigh, making her legs look longer—hugging her figure perfectly.

Her handbag rested over her shoulder, her heels making her look taller despite how short she is.

I didn’t even realize I was staring at her until Yuri nudged me with a smirk on his face.

“Down to earth, Keifer,” his voice low, only for me to hear, as his smirk widened.

“You look like you wanna devour her.”

“Control, King,” David said, mirroring the same smirk.

I was.

God, I was trying to control myself so hard; it hurt.

But watching Jay, looking like an angel dressed like little devil, did something to me.

Eventually, all the girls sat beside their partners, leaving Jay standing there.

Her gaze swept through the room, searching for an empty seat.

When her gaze landed directly on the seat beside me—the only empty seat—she took a deep breath, walked over and sat down.

Our shoulders touched, knees brushed.

I was sure she could feel the heat radiating from me.

She was sitting stiffly, her shoulder rigid, her fist tight on her knees, clutching her handbag.

I raised my hands, letting them settle on the backrest behind her, very ‘accidently’ brushing my fingers on her bare shoulder.

Her skin was cold yet warm.

The tension between us was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Oblivious to the tension, everyone was arguing about something—probably about games to play.

Suddenly, Ci-N shouted, “GUYS!” drawing everyone’s attention, wiggling his brows with a mischievous glint in his eye.

“Let’s play TRUTH AND DARE!”

The reaction was instantaneous, some groaned, some hooted.

But eventually, everyone agreed.

I looked at Jay, her shoulders now relaxed, like someone had lifted a heavy weight off them.

We were all seated around the table in a circle as Ci-N spun the empty bottle at the center.

Everyone leaned forward to see who would be the first target.

The speed gradually slowed down until it stopped, pointing directly towards Blaster.

While Blaster groaned, everyone started booing and clapping in excitement.

“Truth or dare, Blaster,” Ci-N asked with a smirk on his face, telling he had already decided Blaster’s embarrassment.

Blaster thought for a minute.

“Dare,” he said confidently, completely underestimating the boys.

“I am the man of words. Let’s see how far you guys can go.”

“Okay, man of words,” Felix said.

“You have 30 seconds to act like a complete chicken.”

“What—!” Blaster shouted, eyes widening in complete denial.

“I am not doing that.”

“You have to,” Calix said, trying hard not to laugh.

“Or you disagree with your own words. Are you not a man?”

Blaster let out a loud groan before standing up for his performance, muttering “fine” and questioning his life decisions.

That soft sound, contrasting to how she always fought with me, made my heart flutter.

I leaned towards her, my breath tickling her ear as I whispered, “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”

She froze, her cheek matching the color of her dress as she turned, not fully, just enough to hold my gaze.

“Yeah, I am. It’s been so long since I last saw them,” she said, stammering before looking back at others, eyes softening.

“I missed them!”

“And…what about me?” My voice dropped low, only for her to hear.

“You?” She asked, her brows pulled together in confusion.

“Haven’t we met each other yesterday only?!”

“We did, but,” I paused, looking directly into her eyes.

“You ignored me. We didn’t have any real conversation.”

AUTHOR’s POV

Before she could reply, the claps erupted in the room, breaking the tension.

She looked away, turning towards others, completely flustered.

Keifer just chuckled at her reaction.

Ci-N spun the bottle again, which stopped, pointing towards Felix, who chose truth, clearly not trusting others’ intentions, even though he was the one who came up with the chicken dare.

“Okay,” Rory clapped once, leaning forward.

“Tell us who was the recent person you got called from.”

Felix turned his phone, tapping on the screen before turning it towards everyone.

“The recent call was from a life insurance policy,” Felix said, dramatically wiping imaginary tears.

“Talking more about my death benefits than life.”

Everyone laughed.

Even Keifer’s lip twitch slightly.

Next, the bottle’s neck stopped at Josh.

“Truth,” Josh chose.

“Looks like everyone is traumatized to choose dare,” Eman said between laughs.

“Okay, so your question is to reveal your girlfriend’s name, you had been hiding so hard.”

Josh blushed slightly before answering, “Lara, our batchmate back in HVIS from section D.”

“WHAT—!” Eren shouted in disbelief.

“That girl, who kicked your shin because she misunderstood you as her stalker.”

“As a stalker!” Mayo interrupted, couldn’t stop laughing.

“Was it a love at first kick or enemies to lover trope.”

Everyone laughed.

“Next,” Ci-N said, spinning the bottle hard.

It stopped right at Ella, who was beside Aries.

“Dare,” Ella said, smiling.

“I choose dare. Let’s see what’s for me.”

“That’s our gurl!” Rakki said, smirking mischievously.

“I dare you to confess to Aries in a completely opposite way to your soft usual self.”

Ella thought for a moment before shrugging.

“Okay, done!”

She turned to Aries, who was already watching her with quiet amusement.

The room got quiet, watching.

She deliberately rose her hand, bringing it up to grab his chin between her fingers, tugging him enough for them to be just a breath away.

His eyes widened at her boldness.

Ella traced her fingers on his throat before snapping her hand at the nape of his neck.

“Aries,” she whispered, her voice low with heat in her eyes.

“I always wanted to tell you something.” She paused before continuing.

“I love you! Always will!”

Aries froze, his face red as a tomato. Find the original chapter at novelping.com.

The silence remained exactly for 1 second before the room exploded.

“Gurl, you killed it—!”

“Aries, are you dead—!”

“Aries, blink twice if you’re alive—!”

Ella pulled away, completely flustered, and buried her face—which matched Aries’s—into her hands.

The bottle spun again, its neck gradually slowing to point directly at Rory.

“Truth,” he chose.

Calix leaned forward, an insufferable smirk on his face.

“I’ve got one. Tell us that one secret no one knows about.”

Rory laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.

“Well… I’ve been chatting with this random guy online, pretending to be a girl with a fake ID. It’s been almost a week, and he’s been asking for a meet-up and a date.”

“May God bless that man when he finds out,” Edrix said, wiping away tears of laughter.

Next, the bottle pointed at David, who was sprawled lazily on the couch.

“Dare,” he chose casually.

Drew grinned.

“I dare you to drink three glasses of whiskey, one after another.”

The room erupted in chants.

David!…David!…

David!

David rolled his shoulders, grabbed the first glass, and muttered, “Watch me.” He downed it in one go, then the second, then the third.

He set the glass back down and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

“Done.”

Applause filled the room.

The bottle landed on Eren.

He chose dare.

Ci-N’s smirk was devilish.

“You need to call one of your many girlfriends and tell her you don’t love her anymore.”

The others hooted.

“You’re getting revenge for what happened back at HVIS,” Eren muttered, but he pulled out his phone anyway, dialed a number, and put it on speaker.

The call connected, a high-pitched voice slicing through.”Baby!

Did you miss me?

Are we meeting tonight?”

Eren cleared his throat.

“Uh—Eva? Actually, I don’t love you anymore. We should just… break up.”

“You fucking asshole!” Eva screamed.

“Don’t ever call me again. Stay with your other bitches!”

The call ended before Eren could even respond.

He glared at Ci-N, who was smirking.

“Are you satisfied now?”

“Of course I am. One of your girlfriends literally scratched me with her nails in that classroom. I needed a tetanus shot.” Ci-N answered playfully.
