KEIFER’s POV

I stood in the center of the groom’s suite, the full-length mirror catching every angle of the black tuxedo.

The fabric sat heavy on my shoulders, the white shirt crisp, the tie knotted tight.Full novel: JAYFER – The Shadow’s Love — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Outside the windows the gardens stretched green and perfect, guests already arriving in the distance, but none of that registered.

My mind kept looping back to Jay, the way she had looked at the bar.

The artist team moved around me without speaking much.

One knelt to adjust the hem of the trousers, another worked the cufflinks into place with practiced fingers, a third ran a comb through my hair and sprayed it.

They stepped back after a few minutes, nodded, and left the room, the door clicking shut behind them.

I turned to the three men waiting by the another window.

Angelo, Aries, and Percy stood in their own dark suits, looking more like they were heading to a board meeting than a wedding.

“Won’t she suspect the moment I step into her room?” I asked.

“She will think I had been planning to marry her since forever. We should have at least waited for her response.”

Percy chuckled.

“You always look handsome, Keifer—but obviously not more than me—so there’s no chance Jay will even know it was all planned.”

“Oh… by the way,” Aries interrupted, smirking.

“I ordered my men to kidnap Liam’s family, so that it will actually look like the whole family ran away from the wedding.”

I smirked.

“Thanks, brother-in-law.”

He groaned, but let it go.

We walked into the hallway where the rest of the family members were standing.

Mom and Tita Gemma were consoling Tita Jeana, who was crying.

Tito Jaspher was on the phone, his voice restrained.

Standing a few feet away was Dad.

“What’s wrong?” Aries asked, completely in his character like he has no idea what’s going on.

“Mom, why are you crying?”

Tita looked up and quickly hugged Aries, burying her face in his chest.

“Aries, that Liam—” she let out a sob before continuing.

“Today is the wedding, but Liam and his family are nowhere to be found.”

“What—!” Percy screamed, exaggerating as always.

“I will kill him! How can he leave my baby sistah like this! On her wedding day! He sho—”

I nudged him to shut his mouth.

“I think we should tell Jay about this before the ceremony starts,” I said in my calm, steady voice despite the nervousness.

We reached the bridal suite.

I was last to enter, but the moment I looked at Jay, everything just disappeared.

I stood at the back as her parents told her about everything.

She was sobbing, purely heartbroken.

It did something to me.

She never cried until she was overwhelmed by something.

How was I supposed to tell her that I was responsible for her situation, even though it was completely for her protection?

Somehow her brothers managed to lighten the mood.

Laughter filled the room.

But when Angelo suggested her to marry me, the look of denial cut directly through my chest.

It was like I didn’t deserve to stand beside her.

Then Mom stepped up, assuring her with the warmth she always carried for Jay.

I saw the way she hesitated.

She was considering but still wanted to refuse.

Then Angelo told us to give them a moment.

My gaze lingered on Jay before exchanging a nod with Angelo, and we stepped out.

After what felt like eternity, Angelo came out of that room, he look around before his gaze landed on me.

He walked toward me, placing his hands on my shoulders.

“She agreed. Don’t ever make me regret taking this decision.”

“I won’t, brother-in-law,” I smirked, but the usual sharp edge was missing as I felt relief.

I stood at the end of the aisle, waiting for her.

The door opened and she walked toward me.

Everything just disappeared.

My entire attention was on the girl walking toward me, without knowing where the world would take us.

I started with my vow, which I had been preparing since forever.

I always dreamed of Jay being my bride.

Then she started hers.

It felt nothing like she was reciting; it felt genuine.

We exchanged our rings.

When the priest told us to kiss, I saw the way she tensed and I kissed her forehead instead.

I knew she wasn’t ready for any of this, and I was ready to give her as much time as she needed.

We were married.

She was my Mrs. Watson now.

We promised forever to eachother, we would get many chances for other things.

At the reception, Section E huddled around me, with Aries and Percy beside me.

“Man, you have got to be kidding me,” Felix groaned, though the bright smile was radiating from him.

“When I reached here, I was actually cursing about Liam marrying Jay,” Kit started.

“But when we saw you on the altar, god damn, we are happy for you, bro,” Mayo finished.

“And Jay actually agreed to this. It feels impossible,” Denzel said.

“Long story short, Liam has been working in some hidden auction and he sold Jay there. Some rich brat from Bali agreed on ten billion, and this fucker was taking her to Bali in two days. Liam is held hostage in Keifer’s basement, and we made it look like he ran away,” Aries told.

“Damn—!”

“Holy shit—!”

“Son of a bitch—!”

“Asshole—!”

The string of curses left their mouths.

The look on their faces was pure rage.

“We want to meet the ex-groom. He clearly needs the taste of Section E medicine,” Yuri said, smirking.

“I will tell you guys about that,” I replied.

“Whatever you say,” Ci-N started jumping infront of me.

“My Dad finally got his wife and I got my Mom for sure.”

My gaze shifted toward Jay, who was buried in the human warmth of her girls group.

Eventually, everyone left.

Tita and Tito told me to take care of Jay and scolded me for not calling them Mom and Dad.

Then Mom hugged Jay, welcoming her, and Dad told her to call Mom and Dad.

He even gave me the keys to our penthouse—which they had decided to give me on my wedding for me and my wife.

They even told me to make the house just like I wanted, and I constructed it the same way Jay loved.

Because I was damn sure she was going to be mine.

After everyone left, I turned to Jay.

She was exhausted, eyes red from all that crying, but a faint smile lingering on her face made me forget about the person in the basement.

“So, should we leave?” I asked.

She nodded.

I helped with her dress as we walked toward the car.
