KEIFER’s POV
Splash!
Liam jolted awake, gasping as the chilling cold water hit his face directly.
The red stain of blood mixed with water and trailed down his chin.
He opened his eyes and took in the surroundings.
His gaze landed on me, then behind me.
A flicker of hope lit up his face, like he thought they had come for him.
“Ku—Kuya!” His voice came out raspy, followed by a fake sob.
“Thank God, Kuya! You all came. I know you came to rescue me. Look… just look at me—your sister’s future husband. Tomorrow is the wedding and this bastard beat the hell out of me. Please Kuya, take me away, just… untie me.”
Percy walked behind him with a very fake look of sympathy.
“Oh right, Liam. My handsome face was so stressed just by looking at you…”
Liam smiled, clearly thinking Percy was going to untie him.
But the smile twisted into something painful.
Percy yanked his hair back with a brutal force, making Liam yelp.
“…but back then, when you were in a relationship with my baby sistah.” He finished the sentence.
“Watching you like this now, it feels so satisfying.”
He shoved Liam by his hair and walked back toward us.
Then Aries stepped in front of him.
“Percy, why the hell did you do that?”
Liam thought Aries would support him, but the hard, bone-cracking punch to his jaw snapped his face to the side.
“You fucking showed mercy! You should have punched him until death itself knocked on his door.”
Percy chuckled.
“Noted, Baby Bro!”
After Aries, we turned to the one person who was glaring intensely at the bastard on the chair.
Angelo walked slowly and stood right in front of Liam.
This time the fucker lost all hope.
But to our surprise, Angelo untied him and made him stand.
“Angelo, what the—!”
“Kuya—!”
Angelo didn’t turn toward us.
He just stared down at the person swaying in front of him.
“Thanks, Ku—!”
Thub!
Liam was thrown far across the room.
He curled into a ball on the concrete as fresh blood spit from his mouth.
Angelo slowly lowered his right leg.
It looked like he had kicked him straight in the abdomen.
“That’s for using my sister,” Angelo growled, his voice low.
I walked toward him, smirking, and crouched down to his level.
“Do you really think your little act will make you escape? So pathetic of you.”
We walked out.
Even though we were still angry, the satisfied smirks on our faces lingered.
We settled on the couch in my office.
As the silence settled between us, the cold realization hit—the reality of tomorrow’s wedding.
Even though Liam was in the basement, we were actually too late to cancel the wedding.
“What about tomorrow’s wedding?” Aries asked.
“We can’t tell everyone that we kept Liam as a hostage.”
“But we can’t even let my baby sistah marry this bastard,” Percy said.
“Imagine waking up every day to find my sis with him. It’s stressful. I might grow wrinkles on my handsome face.”
“Percy!” Aries groaned.
“We are serious.”
“So am I, baby bro!” Percy replied, checking his reflection on the black screen of his phone.
“It’s too exhausting to cope with natural beauty while thinking about baby sistah’s safety.”
“Shut up, both of you,” Angelo glared at them, making both act like they had zipped their mouths shut.
Then he turned to me.
“Keifer, we can’t put the company’s reputation at stake. If the Ravens group is really involved in this, they must be waiting for a scandal.”
“The possibility of a scandal they might have planned must be after Jay’s departure to Bali,” I said, steady.
“And if they get to know Liam is missing or the wedding got cancelled, they will clearly use it as another reason.”
“Then what can we do?” Percy asked, irritated.
“We can’t cancel the wedding, we can’t even let this wedding happen. What the fuck do we do then?”
Silence settled between us again as everyone thought of all the possibilities, which unfortunately all ended in denial.
“How about…” Angelo started, grabbing our attention as his eyes trailed from Aries to Percy, until he looked at me.
“…replacing the groom.”
“What—” Percy said.
“Kuya, that’s not even possible. How are we going to get Jay married to anyone? No, I won’t agree.”
“Percy is correct, Kuya,” Aries leaned forward, completely confused by his brother’s suggestion.
“We can’t just make Jay stand in front of anyone we don’t know.”
I didn’t speak a word.
Angelo was still staring at me.
Following his gaze, both Aries and Percy also looked toward me, understanding what their brother actually meant.
“I won’t,” I declared.
“You won’t, why?” Percy asked.
“You clearly announced yourself as her future husband and now you are denying.”
“Don’t tell me, Keifer, you were just playing with her feelings,” Aries growled.
“I will kill you.”
Angelo just stared at me like he had already read my mind.
“I love her. I won’t deny that,” I confessed.
“But because of anything, I don’t want to force myself on her. I can’t simply take advantage of the situation.”
“You are not taking advantage,” Percy stated.
I huffed.
“What if she would never be happy with me? What if she looks at me as if I am just someone not important to her? What if she sees me as nothing but an arrangement? What if—”
“Keifer—!” Angelo roared, cutting me off.
“Since when did you become so uncertain? Where’s that arrogant bastard who won’t shut his mouth just to annoy us by calling himself future brother-in-law?”
I stayed silent for a while.
“Okay, even if I agree,” I looked at them, “do you think she will do the same? She just hates me!”
“Does she?” Percy asked, smirking.
“I can’t see the same hatred in her eyes back in that bar room, during the dare.”
“And about convincing her,” Aries looked at Angelo.
“Jay would never ever go against Kuya.”
Angelo nodded.
“It’s time, Keifer. Think of a future with her before it gets too late. She was almost going to get married. What if Liam wasn’t the bastard?”
I groaned.
“Fine, I will marry her.” Then a smirk came.
“But for the record, you would be my official brother-in-law from tomorrow.”
All three groaned in unison, muttering about regret and asshole.
