KEIFER’s POV
After the talking, the laughing—and, most importantly, Jay’s death glares—we finally settled around the dining table for breakfast.
The spread was obscene: steaming bowls of soup, towers of pancakes, a pitcher of orange juice, and a plate piled high with crispy bacon.
Tito took the head of the table, Tita and Jay on one side, me and Percy on the other.
I made sure to sit directly across from Jay—because, honestly, why wouldn’t I?
I watched, not so amused, as Jay shoveled six pancakes and ten strips of bacon onto her plate.
No wonder Tita always ordered the maids to cook like they were feeding an entire army.
I was still staring at her mountain of food when the shrill ring of the doorbell sliced through the morning calm.
All of us turned toward the entrance as the maid opened the door, revealing my current headache—Liam, bouquet in hand.
Pink roses.
White roses.
Of course.
My eye twitched, Perfect , I thought , I just want to kill this guy.
Jay shot up from her chair so fast it scraped against the floor, launching herself at him.
Her arms locked around his neck, her voice sickeningly sweet—loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear.
“Baby,” she cooed, grinning like he was the only person in the room.
“You came.”
Liam’s hands immediately settled on her waist, his smile too polished, too rehearsed.
I just wanted to cut off those hands , the thought —violently satisfying— came as the threatening promise in my mind as my possessive instinct took over.
But I was just sitting there and watching the drama unfold.
Before I could actually move, Jay leaned in—probably to kiss him—but she never got the chance
Aries yanked Liam back by his hair with enough force to make his neck snap.
Liam let out a pained “Ow—!” while Jay gasped, eyes wide.
“Asshole,” Aries growled, fist still tangled in Liam’s hair.
“Stay the hell away from my sister, or I’ll cut your hands off before you even pick a wedding venue. You’re not married yet.”
That’s my brother–in–law , good job Aries , you are the only one who can keep him on track.
I thought with a victorious smirk.
“Kuyaaaaa!” Jay wailed, wedging herself between them.
“Don’t scare Liam on the first day of being my fiance! It’s not even been twenty-four hours since he proposed, and you’re already threatening his life!”
Aries didn’t flinch.
His voice dropped into that low, dangerous register that made even Jay take a step back.
“I don’t care. I still don’t trust him enough to let him touch you.”
“He’s right, Jay,” Percy chimed in, suddenly dead serious, his own glare locked onto Liam.
“I don’t trust him either to breathe the same air as you. Leave. Or I’ll call security to throw you out , Liam.”
“Kuyaaaaaaa—!” Jay turned to Liam, desperate.
“I’m so sorr—”
“Don’t,” Aries snapped, cutting her off.
“Don’t apologize to him, Jay. Ever. You’re our princess. Princesses don’t apologize to assholes.” His expression softened when he looked at her.
“And I won’t let you apologize to him even after you marry this piece of shit—which I clearly doubt.”
I saw it—the way Liam’s fingers twitched at his sides, his jaw clenching—trying very hard not to react on humiliation.
He was forcing that smile, grinding his teeth as he looked at Jay.
“It’s fine, Jay,” he said, voice smooth as poison.
“They’re just… your brothers protective towards you.” But his eyes?
Cold.
Calculating.
“We’ll talk later.”
“Thanks for understanding, Liam,” Jay said, flashing him that same sweet smile she gave to everyone.
She waved as he left, bouquet still in hand.
The door slammed shut.
Silence.
Then, like nothing had happened, everyone filed back to the table.
Aries plopped down beside me, shaking my shoulder.
“Long time no see, bro.”
I grinned, mischief glinting in my eyes.
“How was I supposed to contact my best friend when he’s too busy planning dates and ordering smoothies for his girlfriend?”
Aries’ ears turned pink.
“Shut up, Keifer.”
The table erupted in laughter.
After breakfast, Aries, Percy, and I headed to his room, ordering a maid to bring snacks and drinks.
Video games for the rest of the day—or so we thought.
We were mid-match when Aries finally broke the silence.
“I don’t trust this Liam guy,” he muttered, eyes still on the screen.
“He shows something else , while his eyes tell some dark story we are not aware about.Something’s off.”
“Agreed,” Percy said, all playfulness gone.
“Every instinct is screaming to keep Jay away from him. He’s not just some love-struck idiot—he’s planning something.”
Aries glanced at me.
“Keifer. You’re quiet. Do you trust him?”
I gripped the controller tighter, knuckles whitening.
” If only you knew , how much I hate not knowing what he’s thinking.” My voice was low, dangerous.
“The fake smiles. The clenched fists. The look in his eyes…” I exhaled sharply.
“I don’t know what it means.”
The game paused.
We all turned to each other, the weight of the unspoken hanging between us.
Jay had no idea what thoughts were brewing in our minds.
