The third day was not supposed to include Satoru Gojo.

That was how Rei knew it would.

The schedule said the joint review had concluded. The Tokyo observers were meant to return by noon. The Kyoto students were meant to resume normal preliminary instruction. The Gojo heir was meant to be unavailable due to family obligations, which was adult language for we failed to make him do something else in a way that looked like control.

Moriyama read the schedule in the morning.

Then folded it in half.

Then folded it again.

Daigo watched her from across the hall.

“That paper did nothing to deserve that”

Moriyama looked at him.

“It lied”

Daigo nodded.

“Fair”

Akiha, beside Rei, did not smile.

She had been watching him since breakfast.

Not constantly. That would have been crude. Akiha was never crude unless she wanted to make a point. She watched him in small corrections: a glance at his sleeve, a pause before handing him a slate, one brief touch near his wrist when he adjusted his cursed energy too smoothly during morning drill.

Rei pretended not to notice.

Akiha pretended to believe him.

Their friendship had become increasingly hostile to convenience.

Tomonari arrived with three ink trays and a thin stack of archive tags.

“The auxiliary storehouse has been added to today’s rotation”

Daigo looked betrayed.

“We have a storehouse rotation?”

“Apparently”

“Since when?”

Tomonari looked at the schedule Moriyama had folded into a weapon.

“Since the paper lied”

Daigo stared at him.

“That was almost funny”

Tomonari blinked.

“Was it?”

“Do not ruin it by asking”

Rei glanced toward Moriyama.

The auxiliary storehouse sat behind the eastern annex, halfway between the training hall and the older archive rooms. It was used for low-risk teaching materials, damaged practice tools, inactive seals, civilian objects whose relevance had not yet been determined, and other things adults described as safe because admitting uncertainty required paperwork.

Rei disliked it.

Not because it was dangerous.

Because it was full of things waiting to become dangerous if handled by people who believed the label.

Moriyama tapped the folded schedule against her palm.

“Today’s exercise is cost identification under object interference”

Daigo groaned.

“No”

Moriyama looked at him.

“Would you like to be excused?”

“Yes”

“No”

Akiha lowered her head.

Rei did not look at her.

If he looked, he would laugh.

Moriyama continued “Objects have been selected from inactive or low-output storage. Students will identify residual interference, support cost, handling sequence, and whether cursed energy input would clarify or distort the record”

Tomonari raised a hand.

Moriyama nodded.

“Will the Gojo heir observe?”

The room shifted.

Moriyama’s expression did not.

“He is not scheduled”

Daigo muttered “That means yes”

Moriyama’s pointer struck the table once.

“That means prepare as if the answer matters less than your competence”

Which meant yes.

Rei looked down at his hands.

They were steady.

Too steady.

Akiha whispered “Do not arrange the mistake before the room exists”

He looked at her.

She looked back.

“I know”

“You say that too early”

This time, he almost smiled.

Almost.

The auxiliary storehouse smelled of dust, talisman paper, old wood, and storage wax.

Oda had already claimed the rear table when they arrived, because of course she had. She sat with a ledger open before her, one hand resting on a covered tray, her glasses low enough to make every student feel personally misfiled.

Moriyama stood by the door.

Kitahara was there too, which made Rei’s attention sharpen.

Her left hand still moved with faint stiffness, though she no longer wore bandages. She greeted the cohort with a nod and avoided looking too long at the covered objects.

That was the first warning.

The second was the fact that Haruto and Sayuri had both arrived as observers despite not being listed on the schedule.

The third walked in seven minutes late.

Satoru Gojo entered without attendants.

Moriyama stared at him.

“No”

Satoru grinned.

“I am not here”

“You are visibly here”

“That sounds like an observer problem”

Daigo whispered “I hate how much effort he puts into being impossible”

Tomonari whispered “I suspect it is effortless”

Akiha whispered “Worse”

Rei said nothing.

Satoru looked at him.

Not at his face.

At his stillness.

Then he smiled.

“Cost day”

Rei said “You are not scheduled”

“I know”

“Did that matter?”

“No”

Moriyama pointed toward the observation side.

“If you are going to be where you should not be, do it from there”

Satoru moved to the indicated place.

That was more alarming than refusal would have been.

Oda opened the ledger.

“Object one”

The first tray held a cracked training bell.

No curse.

No remnant.

Only repeated low-output handling and one sharp overload mark from someone ringing it during a panic drill too hard. Daigo identified the overload. Akiha identified the panic. Tomonari identified storage sequence. Rei wrote the reconstruction and left space for uncertainty.

Satoru watched.

He did not comment.

Object two was a child’s wooden fox.

Rei disliked it immediately.

Not dangerous.

Kept.

Again.

Akiha took the lead, voice quiet but steady. It had belonged to a household shrine site, removed after an incident but never confirmed as cursed. The fox carried more grief than malice, and the grief did not belong to the object itself but to those who had handled it after.

Rei wrote less than he saw.

Satoru noticed.

Still said nothing.

Object three was a folded talisman case.

Tomonari identified the seal style as Kamo-adjacent but not official. Akiha corrected him, noting that unofficial did not always mean unauthorized. Daigo muttered that adults loved inventing ways to make the same word expensive.

Oda told him to write that down.

Daigo looked horrified.

The room almost became normal.

That was when Kitahara uncovered the fourth tray.

The object was a small lacquered box.

Not the same as the mock exercise box from the previous day, though it was similar enough to make Rei’s skin tighten. Black lacquer. Red inner line visible at the hinge. Two paper seals attached across the lid. A third seal had been removed before storage, leaving a paler rectangle behind.

Rei looked at the box.

The world seemed to narrow.

Not because of cursed pressure.

Because of absence.

There should have been something around the box. Fear, handling, seal residue, storage dust, a fading signature. Instead the surface looked too quiet. Not clean. Clean had texture. This was quiet the way a held breath was quiet.

Akiha noticed his stillness.

“What?”

Rei shook his head once.

Not here.

Oda’s eyes were already on him.

Kitahara spoke.

“This object was recovered from a former training residence. It is listed inactive. Exercise objective is to identify whether the seals preserve the object, hide contamination, or serve only as transport tags”

Moriyama’s expression sharpened.

“Listed by whom?”

Kitahara looked at the ledger.

“Registry clerk Fujita”

The name moved through Rei like cold water.

Not panic.

A door opening somewhere far away.

Satoru’s head tilted.

Rei felt it.

That tiny reaction.

Seen.

He smoothed nothing.

Akiha saw that too.

Daigo did not know the name, but he knew the room.

“I hate this box”

Oda said “Useful”

Daigo looked at her.

“That was not analysis”

“It was honest enough to begin”

Tomonari stepped closer, careful not to touch the table.

“The remaining seals are not preservation style”

Akiha leaned in.

“They are also not simple transport tags”

Rei looked at the hinge.

The red inner line was wrong.

Not paint.

A boundary.

Small.

Folded inward.

Tengen’s foundation sharpened behind his eyes, not opening fully, but enough to show the shape of a threshold disguised as a hinge.

A door pretending to be a box.

Sayuri’s lessons came back.

A door is a social agreement pretending to be architecture.

This was not architecture.

This was invitation.

Rei said “Do not open it”

Kitahara’s hand stopped.

Everyone looked at him.

Moriyama’s voice was calm.

“Reason”

Rei stared at the hinge.

“It is not sealed closed”

Tomonari frowned.

“The lid is sealed”

“No. The lid is being used to make it look closed”

Akiha’s eyes widened slightly.

Daigo stepped back.

“Then what is it?”

Rei answered before he could make the sentence pretty.

“It is waiting for someone to agree that opening is the action”

The room chilled.

Oda closed the ledger.

Moriyama moved one step toward the table.

Satoru was no longer bored.

Kitahara withdrew her hand.

Good.

Then the box knocked.

Once.

From inside.

A soft little sound.

Wood against wood.

Every adult in the room reacted at the same time.

Moriyama moved toward the students.

Kitahara reached for a suppression charm.

Oda pulled the ledger away from the table, not to save the ledger, Rei realized, but to remove paper from the working space.

Haruto stepped forward.

Sayuri’s hand rose.

Satoru looked straight at the box.

The second knock came.

Daigo swore.

Akiha’s fingers closed around Rei’s sleeve.

The box did not open.

The world around it did.

A line unfolded from the hinge, thin and red and almost polite. Not cursed energy in the ordinary sense. A boundary instruction. A little door opening into the idea that someone had already touched the lid, already agreed, already made the mistake.

The remaining seals blackened from the center outward.

Moriyama said “Back”

No one argued.

Almost no one.

The red line reached for the nearest source of attention.

Not the nearest cursed energy.

Attention.

It slid toward Akiha first because she had understood the danger with her whole body before she had put it into words.

Rei moved.

There was no time to arrange cost.

No time to choose a cheap door.

No time to make panic look believable.

Only distance, angle, threshold, hand, breath.

He stepped between the line and Akiha.

Kusakabe’s control caught the edge.

Nanami’s reinforcement locked his arm before the contact reached bone.

Tengen’s foundation opened too wide.

The storehouse became doors.

Table edge. Seal lip. Hinges. Breath gaps. Adult assumptions. Observation lines. The space between Satoru’s glasses and his eyes. The space under Rei’s own skin where the mask began.

Too much.

Too much.

The red line touched his palm.

It should have bitten.

It did.

Then it found the ocean beneath.

Yuta’s reserve moved.

Not visibly.

Not as a flare.

As depth.

For one forbidden fraction of a second, the cup became a well, the well became a sea, and the sea did not rise because Rei crushed it down with every piece of control he had.

The floor talismans snapped.

Not from output.

From contradiction.

The line recoiled.

Satoru inhaled.

That was the loudest sound in the room.

Rei folded the boundary inward.

Not with full Tengen skill. Not with mastery. With recognition. He found the hinge’s lie, refused the invitation, and turned the agreement back onto the box.

The lid trembled.

A third knock struck from inside.

This time, it sounded farther away.

Rei pushed.

A small, ugly ring of cursed energy formed around the box.

Too efficient at the center.

Too much reserve beneath.

Too many disciplines stacked in directions no child should have.

He broke the ring deliberately.

Made it worse.

Made it human.

The box sealed.

The red line vanished.

The storehouse did not move.

No one spoke.

Rei lowered his hand.

His palm was bleeding.

Not much.

Enough.

Akiha was behind him, breathing too fast.

Daigo stood frozen with one hand half-raised, as if he had intended to grab someone and realized too late he did not know whom.

Tomonari’s face was white.

Kitahara had a suppression charm in hand.

Moriyama stood in front of the other students, pointer gone, expression carved from something colder than anger.

Oda stared at the box.

Haruto stared at Rei.

Sayuri stared at Satoru.

Because Satoru had seen.

Not everything.

Not the System.

Not the names.

Not the future.

But enough.

His glasses had slipped.

Only slightly.

A strip of blue showed beneath the dark lens.

His face had changed completely.

No grin.

No boredom.

No clever line waiting behind his teeth.

He looked at Rei as if the world had just failed to obey a rule he had never questioned.

Rei felt the Masking Protocol slam back into place.

Too late.

The System opened and stuttered.

[Critical exposure event]

Direct Six Eyes partial-depth contact confirmed.

Observed leakage:

- reserve depth anomaly

- barrier foundation response

- cost suppression pattern

- multi-vector template resonance

- Masking Protocol compression

Core System interface concealed.

Template identities concealed.

Future-Imprint sources concealed.

Disclosure risk:

Critical

Rei closed it before the text could distract him.

Moriyama spoke first.

“Students out”

Daigo found his voice.

“What?”

“Out”

Akiha said “Rei is bleeding”

“I see that. Out”

Akiha did not move.

For one terrifying second, Rei thought she might refuse.

Then Sayuri crossed the room and placed a hand on Akiha’s shoulder.

Not forcing.

Anchoring.

“Akiha”

Akiha looked at Rei.

He nodded once.

It cost more than the blood.

She let Sayuri guide her toward the door.

Daigo went after two steps, then turned back.

Rei said “Go”

Daigo’s face twisted.

“I hate you”

“I know”

“Good”

He left.

Tomonari followed, silent and shaking with the effort of staying polite.

Oda covered the box with a containment cloth.

Kitahara sealed the tray.

Moriyama looked at Satoru.

“Gojo”

He did not move.

“Satoru Gojo”

That got him.

His eyes shifted to her.

Moriyama said “Outside”

“No”

The word was quiet.

Not childish.

Not loud.

No.

Haruto moved.

“Gojo-sama”

Satoru’s gaze returned to Rei.

“He cannot stay with just adults”

The room stilled again.

Rei felt the sentence more than he understood it.

Moriyama’s scar twitched.

Haruto’s expression became unreadable.

Sayuri, at the door, looked back.

Satoru continued, still looking at Rei.

“If I leave, everyone asks him what I saw”

Moriyama said “And if you stay?”

“Then everyone has to ask me too”

For the first time since the box moved, Oda spoke.

“He is correct. Unfortunately”

Moriyama looked like she wanted to exile the entire concept of correctness.

Haruto looked at Rei.

Not Satoru.

Rei understood the question.

Can you survive him here?

No.

Can you survive him gone?

Also no.

Rei said “He can stay”

Haruto closed his eyes once.

Sayuri returned from the door after making sure the others were outside.

The room narrowed.

Moriyama, Oda, Kitahara, Haruto, Sayuri, Rei, Satoru.

The box under cloth.

The blood in Rei’s palm.

The silence around what had been seen.

Kitahara looked at Rei’s hand.

“I need to treat that”

Haruto said “I will”

His voice made argument impossible.

He wrapped Rei’s palm in a clean cloth. His hands did not shake.

That hurt more than if they had.

Moriyama looked at the covered box.

“Report first. Interpretation after. Oda”

Oda opened a fresh page.

“Object listed inactive by registry clerk Fujita. Remaining seals concealed threshold response. Trigger occurred without physical opening after observation and stated analysis”

Kitahara added “I withdrew before contact. No direct handling after warning”

Moriyama looked at Rei.

“What did you see?”

Rei could feel Satoru listening.

He chose each word like a step over thin ice.

“The hinge was being used as a threshold. The seals made the lid look like the main boundary. The box was waiting for agreement that opening was the action. When attention fixed on it, the threshold unfolded toward the nearest compatible observer”

Moriyama’s eyes moved to Akiha’s absent place.

“Compatible?”

“Someone who recognized it as a door”

Sayuri’s face tightened.

Haruto continued wrapping the cloth.

Kitahara whispered “Damn it”

Oda wrote without correcting the curse.

Moriyama asked “Your intervention?”

Rei looked at the box.

“I refused the invitation and folded the threshold back into the object”

Satoru said “That is not all”

No one breathed.

Rei did not look at him.

Moriyama did.

“Gojo”

“He is lying by stopping”

Haruto’s cursed energy changed.

Not flared.

Changed.

Sayuri’s hand moved inside her sleeve.

Satoru noticed both.

He did not smile.

“I am not saying he should say it”

Rei looked at him then.

Satoru looked back.

Blue visible now beneath the glasses.

Too much.

Too clear.

Satoru said “I am saying the report will be wrong if it pretends that was only a threshold fold”

Oda’s brush hovered.

Moriyama’s voice was low.

“What did you observe?”

Rei’s heart stopped.

There.

The room.

The door.

Satoru’s gaze stayed on him.

Then shifted to Moriyama.

“I observed that Mikage reacted before the threshold completed formation. His family training and previous barrier exposure likely contributed. His intervention used support-style boundary identification under stress. The object recoiled and was contained”

Rei stared.

That was true.

It was also a wall.

Satoru had built it fast.

Imperfectly.

But between Rei and the adults.

Moriyama understood.

So did Haruto.

So did Sayuri.

Oda wrote the words down exactly.

Then Satoru added “Also, whoever listed that inactive is either incompetent or wanted a child to touch it”

Kitahara’s face went cold.

Moriyama said “That will not go in the student report”

“It should go somewhere”

“It will”

Oda’s brush scratched against paper.

“It has”

The first report ended there.

The second conversation began when Oda closed the ledger.

No one called it that.

Sayuri stepped closer to Rei.

Haruto finished tying the cloth.

Kitahara took the covered box away with Oda, leaving Moriyama at the door. The instructor looked at Rei, then at Satoru, then at Haruto and Sayuri.

“Five minutes”

Haruto said “This is not your decision”

“No. It is the room’s”

That was impossible to argue with without sounding foolish.

Moriyama left and closed the door.

Not fully.

Enough.

Rei and Satoru stood on opposite sides of the table.

Haruto and Sayuri stood behind Rei.

Not shielding.

Not exactly.

Satoru pushed his glasses up.

The visible blue vanished.

Somehow that made it worse.

Rei’s hand throbbed.

Satoru spoke first.

“That was not your limit”

Rei’s mouth went dry.

“No”

Haruto inhaled.

Sayuri did not.

Satoru continued “That was not even close”

Rei said nothing.

Satoru’s voice changed.

Not softer.

More precise.

“You are not hiding a technique”

Rei’s fingers tightened inside the bandage.

Satoru tilted his head.

“You are hiding a whole person”

The sentence landed in the room and stayed there.

Haruto said “Gojo-sama”

Satoru did not look at him.

“I am not telling them”

Rei looked up sharply.

Satoru’s mouth twisted.

“What? I am not stupid”

Sayuri said “No. You are a child who just saw something adults would kill to own”

That made him look at her.

For once, he did not have an answer ready.

Good.

Sayuri stepped forward, one pace.

“If you speak carelessly, even in irritation, even in jokes, even because someone annoys you, that becomes a route”

Satoru’s jaw tightened.

“I said I am not telling them”

Haruto’s voice was quiet.

“People say things”

Satoru looked at him.

Then at Rei.

Rei remembered a different room.

A different proposed vow.

Words like holes.

He felt cold.

“Satoru”

The name cut through everything.

Satoru looked back.

Rei had not planned to say it.

Too late.

“Do not make a vow because you are angry”

Satoru blinked.

Then his eyes narrowed.

“You thought I would?”

“Yes”

“I was going to”

“I know”

A little silence.

Then, absurdly, Satoru smiled.

“Creepy”

Rei almost laughed.

His hand hurt too much.

Haruto said “No Binding Vow will be made in this room without exact terms”

Satoru looked offended.

“I know how vows work”

Sayuri said “So do adults who ruin lives with them”

That landed.

Satoru looked away first.

Only for a second.

Then he looked at Rei.

“What do you want?”

The question was too direct.

Rei almost could not answer it.

Not what was safe.

Not what was strategic.

What do you want?

He looked at the boy across from him.

The strongest child of the era. The watched heir. The impossible eyes. The person who had seen too much and, when asked for a report, had given the room a wall instead of a key.

Rei wanted the impossible.

He wanted to not be owned by what had just happened.

“I want what you saw to remain mine until I choose otherwise”

Satoru became very still.

Haruto closed his eyes.

Sayuri’s gaze did not leave Satoru’s face.

Satoru said “Then I will vow it”

Rei shook his head.

“You need exact terms”

“I know”

“You do not”

“I do”

“You were about to say something stupid like I will never tell anyone anything about Rei”

Satoru looked genuinely insulted.

“I was not”

Rei stared.

Satoru looked away.

“Fine. Maybe”

Sayuri’s mouth almost moved.

Haruto looked as if his soul had aged.

Satoru pointed at Rei.

“Then you say it”

Rei’s blood chilled.

“What?”

“You are better at horrible wording”

“That is not a compliment”

“It is today”

Haruto said “Rei”

Warning.

Question.

Permission withheld but not refusal.

Rei understood.

He breathed.

In.

Hold.

Out.

“The vow should bind only what you saw beneath my mask today”

Satoru listened.

No joke.

No grin.

No interruption.

Rei continued “It cannot stop you from saying I am strange. It cannot stop you from asking me questions. It cannot force you to lie about the box. It cannot prevent you from acting if someone is in danger”

Satoru’s expression sharpened.

“Good”

“It must prevent you from revealing the depth, structure, or nature of what you perceived when the mask opened. Directly or indirectly”

Satoru nodded.

“Directly or indirectly”

“Not through reports”

“Obviously”

“Say it”

His mouth twitched.

“Not through reports”

“Not through adults”

“Not through adults”

“Not through jokes”

Satoru paused.

Rei held his gaze.

Satoru scowled.

“You are very annoying”

“Say it”

“Not through jokes”

Sayuri exhaled softly.

Haruto said “Condition for release”

Rei nodded.

“Until I choose to reveal my true nature by my own will”

Satoru repeated slowly “Until Rei Mikage chooses to reveal his true nature by his own will”

The room changed.

Not yet from the vow.

From the fact that Satoru had said the words seriously.

Rei felt something press against his ribs.

Fear.

Relief.

Neither safe.

Satoru lowered his hand.

Then raised two fingers, not in a formal gesture Rei recognized, but in something instinctive and sharp enough that cursed energy gathered around the words before he finished inhaling.

His voice was clear.

“Until Rei Mikage chooses to reveal his true nature by his own will, I will not reveal what I saw beneath his mask today. Not directly. Not indirectly. Not through reports. Not through adults. Not through jokes”

The air tightened.

The words caught.

For a moment, every boundary in the room became visible to Rei.

Door.

Table.

Blood.

Breath.

Name.

Choice.

Satoru’s cursed energy folded around the vow like a blade accepting a sheath.

Then something hooked between them.

Not friendship.

Not trust.

Structure.

A line of consequence.

The System opened with a force that made Rei’s vision white at the edges.

Rei swallowed.

A second message appeared.

[Warning]

Binding Vow protects disclosure.

It does not prevent curiosity.

It does not prevent observation.

It does not prevent inference.

It does not prevent action.

Yes.

Of course.

Satoru flexed his fingers.

His expression was strange.

Not regretful.

Not proud.

Annoyed, perhaps, by the feeling of a self-imposed wall.

“That felt weird”

Rei stared at him.

“You made a Binding Vow”

“I know”

“It is supposed to feel weird”

Satoru looked at him.

Then grinned.

There he was.

Not unchanged.

But there.

“You look terrible”

Rei’s laugh came out too small.

“I am bleeding”

“You were terrible before that”

Haruto made a sound.

Not a laugh.

Not quite.

Sayuri looked at Satoru.

“Thank you”

Satoru’s grin slipped.

He looked uncomfortable with gratitude.

Good.

He deserved that too.

“Do not thank me like an adult”

Sayuri tilted her head.

“How should I thank you?”

“Do not”

“Then I will refrain with great effort”

He eyed her.

“You are worse than him”

“Yes” Rei said

Satoru looked pleased.

Haruto interrupted before anyone could become comfortable.

“A vow is not trust”

Satoru’s gaze returned to him.

“I know”

Haruto’s voice stayed even.

“It is structure”

Satoru looked at Rei.

“Good. He likes structure”

Rei closed his eyes.

“I am in pain”

“You like structure while in pain”

Sayuri touched Rei’s shoulder.

“Enough”

Surprisingly, Satoru stopped.

Maybe because of her tone.

Maybe because the vow had left him more careful.

Maybe because he was not cruel.

Not in that moment.

Moriyama knocked once and opened the door before anyone answered.

Her gaze moved from Rei to Satoru to Haruto to Sayuri.

Then to the room itself.

Something in her expression changed.

She knew.

Not the terms.

Not fully.

But enough.

“Done?”

Haruto said “For now”

Moriyama looked at Satoru.

“Did you make anything worse?”

Satoru grinned.

“Probably”

Rei said “Less worse than possible”

Moriyama stared at him.

“That is not comforting”

“It is accurate”

Oda’s voice came from the hallway.

“Accuracy is rarely comforting. Move. The box has been contained and I am angry”

Daigo’s voice followed from farther away.

“Is Rei dead?”

Akiha said “Do not shout that”

Daigo shouted “Is he injured in a survivable way?”

Tomonari said “That is not better”

Rei looked toward the door.

For the first time since the box knocked, he felt the shape of the outside world return.

Messy.

Loud.

Demanding.

Alive.

Satoru stepped toward the exit, then paused beside Rei.

He did not lower his glasses.

He did not look deeply.

The restraint was visible because the absence of it would have been easier.

Quietly, so only Rei heard, he said “I still want to know”

Rei looked at him.

“I know”

“I cannot tell”

“I know”

“I can still ask”

“I know”

Satoru smiled.

Not kindly.

Not safely.

Honestly.

“Good”

Then he walked out.

The hall swallowed him in adult panic, Oda’s anger, Moriyama’s commands, Daigo’s loud relief, Akiha’s too-quiet questions, and Tomonari’s attempt to make the situation legible before it ate them all.

Rei remained by the table for one more second.

His palm hurt.

His mask held.

Not because it had not opened.

Because someone had seen it open and chosen not to own what was inside.

Sayuri’s hand rested between his shoulders.

Haruto stood at his side.

Neither spoke.

Rei looked at the covered place where the box had been.

Then at the door through which Satoru had left.

The vow sat in the air like an invisible thread.

Not safety.

Never safety.

But a boundary.

A real one.

For once, not built by adults around children.

Built by a child who had seen too much and decided where his own sight would stop becoming other people’s property.

Rei breathed.

In.

Hold.

Out.

The world did not become easier.

Only different.
