“Start!” Shen Yi shouted loudly.
Almost simultaneously, the two of them moved.
Without too much testing of the waters, Xie Sui came out right from the start with a rapid lunge into a straight thrust, using a rather tricky angle. A flash of surprise crossed Jin Huaiqian’s eyes. He turned his body to parry, twisting his wrist to counter-thrust toward the lower side of Xie Sui’s ribs.
Xie Sui swiftly pulled back his sword to defend, resulting in a crisp “clang” sound as the two blades clashed.
Following that, Xie Sui instantly altered his move, slashing toward the wrist Jin Huaiqian used to hold his sword. Instead of retreating, Jin Huaiqian pressed forward, shifting his footwork to evade the attack while the tip of his sword already pointed toward Xie Sui’s chest guard.
Xie Sui retreated half a step in an incredibly close call, evading this strike with his breathing growing slightly rushed.
What a fast reaction!
He felt a sense of awe in his heart, and his competitiveness was completely aroused.
The two of them exchanged blows back and forth, the sound of clashing metal unceasing to the ear.
Shen Yi and Xue Xing watched from the side, utterly dumbfounded. Some other people training nearby heard the commotion and were also drawn over.
