After the party ended, Marco was currently driving Professor Alistair and his wife home.

Of course Marco knew that was Daphne, he just wanted to know who she was to Professor Alistair.

“Oh, that was Daphne Smith.” Professor Alistair’s wife replied.

“She was my husband’s top student years ago, got easily accepted into his graduate program but gave up her spot to start a business with her boyfriend, which infuriated Alistair so much he couldn’t sleep for half a year.”

“You’re exaggerating.” Alistair laughed.

“I was just very disappointed.

Her ideas and innovations back then was just so great and I was certain she was going to do great things.”

“Wait, Marco, why are you asking about her?

Did she catch your eye?” Professor Alistair’s wide, Vivian asked, teasingly.

“No…of…”

“She better not.

I don’t want that young lady to have any more distractions.” Alistair warned.

*********

Meanwhile, Daphne who was still at the party, catching up with her former friends, heard her phone ringing.

Bringing it out of her bag, she was surprised to see Kayla calling.

Skeptically, she picked up.

“Hello…”

“Daphne, where the hell are you?

The hospital’s being trying to reach you in regards of your mother, they couldn’t and your mother had to give them my contact details instead.

What sort of daughter are you?

You’re out there partying while your mom…”

As Kayla rambled on and on, Daphne was already tensed.

Did something happen to her mother.

“I’m on my way.”

*******

Susan, whose condition was stable now heard the words Kayla had said to Daphne on the phone.

“Kayla, don’t be too harsh on your sister.” Susan let out.

“Daphne has been with me every step of the way since I got admitted.”

Kayla rolled her eyes.

Sister, her ass!

“I really wish I can be perfectly okay already.

This isn’t the time to get sick at all.

I should be helping Daphne with the wedding preparations.

It must be hard doing everything on her own.”

Kayla held back her laughter.

She still had a little bit of fondness left for Susan and so she didn’t want the old woman to go into a shock.

But it was quite funny that the old woman was still thinking there would be a wedding.

Daphne didn’t tell her mother yet?

Or was Daphne still hoping that Trevor would come back to her?

So pathetic.

Trevor had already been snatched away by Mabel and that that Wedding ceremony will never happen.

********

Daphne hurried out of the hall to go straight to the hospital.

Bram escorted her to the first floor to confirm her post graduate application plans.

As she stepped outside, she saw Trevor and Mabel who had just arrived.

Instinctively, she hid behind a car.

Seeing Mabel adjusting Trevor’s tie, she thought they truly looked perfect together.

She guessed Trevor belonged to Mabel all along.

She just felt so wronged to have wasted her years with him.

********

Professor Alistair had already left and Mabel felt disappointed that she didn’t get to meet him but she didn’t worry too much.

She had other plans up her sleeves.

Mabel headed up to some students who recognized her as the daughter of a leading figure in the field of metalworking and were thrilled.

Mabel handed Bram her business card, inviting him to intern at TM.

Trevor also handed out his business cards to everyone.

Everyone gushed about how the two made a perfect match, a handsome man and a beautiful woman.

“I guess this students would tell Professor Alistair about you.” Trevor noted.

“That’s a given.” Mabel let out as they clinked their glasses.

***********

After dropping Mabel off at home, Trevor returned to his family’s house.

His mother had called for him.

“So what do you want to talk about?”

“I told you, your first life, Mabel Madrigal is back in town, right?”

“Yeah…”

“I also heard from my social circle today that there was an arranged marriage between the Madrigal family and the King family.”

Trevor immediately sat up.

“What?!”

Mabel was going to marry someone else?

And someone from the King family?!

His family was nothing compared to that family!

“But recently, the arranged marriage got called off.

I wonder why but the women didn’t have the full details.

That isn’t important right now.

What’s important now is that Mabel currently has no entanglement with anyone so you have to quickly try and get back together with her.

We need all the connections we can get from the Madrigal family.”

Trevor swallowed.

So Mabel’s family were already prepared to marry her off to another family?

Did she…perhaps give that up because of him?

Did she give up the marriage so she could come back to him.

Trevor couldn’t help but love her more.

She was truly the one for him.

Just then, Trevor’s father, Julius got home.

As the two caught up in the study, Julius asked Trevor if there was something he needed to discuss.

Trevor had wanted to talk to his father about the crossroad he was at regarding Daphne and Mabel.

How both was still useful to him.

He hadn’t even hold his father yet that he had proposed to Daphne and they had began planning a wedding, well, Daphne did most of the planning though.

He had told his mother about the engagement.

His mother had been enraged and warned him not to tell his father and cancel the engagement immediately.

His mother had never wanted him to take Daphne seriously.

Sighing, Trevor decided to talk to him about work instead.

Julius had always been proud of his son and now that his son was running a business, he felt prouder and so he pressed Trevor for his outstanding abilities.

*******

Trevor returned to his apartment and found the fridge empty.

He remembered that Daphne had always helped with cleaning and grocery shopping on a regular basis.

His fridge was never empty.

Looking at the house Daphne had arranged, he thought about calling her but hesitated, and ultimately didn’t make the call.

He had to move on from her and focus only on Mabel from now on.
