But there was no response.
After waiting for a while and still getting no answer, Ran assumed that nobody was home.
His exhaustion had become overwhelming, so he sat down near the gate.
As he continued waiting, his eyes slowly closed…
And before he knew it, he had fallen asleep right there.
About an hour later…
A lady returned home with her young daughter.
The two stopped when they noticed Ran sleeping near the gate.
Looking confused, the lady said,
“Who is this?
She gently woke him up.
Ran suddenly opened his eyes and looked at them in surprise.
“Who are you?
And…
did I really fall asleep?” he asked.
The lady calmly replied,
“This is my house.”
Hearing that, Ran felt both relieved and happy.
“Finally…
coming here wasn’t a waste of time after all,” he said with a smile.
Then he introduced himself.
“My name is Kan Ran.
I came from Seoul to return your husband’s wallet.”
The lady invited him inside.
Ran sat in the guest room while her younger daughter sat nearby, quietly observing him with curiosity.
A few moments later, the lady returned with a cup of coffee and introduced herself.
Lady: Yui Ryuu
Then she introduced her daughters.
Elder Daughter: Hana Ryuu
Younger Daughter: Lina Ryuu
She continued, at JYP School.”
Ran looked slightly surprised.
“JYP School?
My sister-in-law, Ami Tanaka, is a mathematics teacher there,” he said.
With a gentle smile, Yui replied,
“Yes, I know.
My daughter has told me about her.
She’s a wonderful teacher and helps the students a lot.”
The conversation continued, and they completely lost track of time.
Eventually, Ran stood up and said,
“I should get going now.”
Yui politely responded,
“Why don’t you stay here for tonight?
My husband will be back tomorrow, and you can meet him before you leave.”
After thinking for a moment, Ran replied,
“No, I’ll meet him another time.”
He walked outside…
But suddenly, it began to rain.
Looking up at the sky, he smiled faintly and said, “Looks like leaving today isn’t possible…”
And so, he decided that he would have to spend the night there.
