Ran’s team had lost another match, and the atmosphere was quite gloomy.
During the break, Ran noticed that the swelling in Ami’s hand had increased, and it seemed that she might have suffered a fracture.
Without wasting any time, he took her to the Medical Room and began applying a temporary bandage.
“Ran, leave it,” Ami said.
“We’ll go to the hospital after the games are over.”
Ran shook his head.
“That will take too long.
Besides, you’ll still need to help everyone with the remaining events.
There isn’t a good doctor here either.
There is one doctor, but he doesn’t have much experience treating injuries like this.”
Ami watched him quietly for a moment.
“By the way, where did you learn all this?
Do you know medical stuff too?”
Ran remained silent for a few seconds.
“Not just a little…
quite a lot.”
“What do you mean?”
A faint smile appeared on Ran’s face.
“I used to be in the Army.”
Ami’s eyes widened in shock.
“What?!”
“I was an Army Commando.”
Ami could hardly believe what she had just heard.
“But Aiko never told us that!”
Ran continued wrapping the bandage.
“That’s because I never told anyone.
To be honest, I left the Army only because of Aiko.”
Ami listened silently.
“When Aiko was pregnant, I was away on a mission.
After the mission ended, I resigned from the Army and came back to her.”
He looked at Ami.
“But this stays between us.
I don’t want everyone else to know about it.”
Ami smiled and nodded.
“Promise.”
At that moment, the door of the Medical Room opened.
For a brief moment, an unusual expression crossed her face when she saw Ami and Ran talking together, but she quickly hid it.
“Ami, are you feeling better now?”
she asked politely.
Ran thought to himself,
“Wow…
she’s showing a lot of concern.
It’s pretty obvious there’s something more going on here.”
With a grin, he said,
“If you’re this concerned, why didn’t you protect Ami during the match?”
Kang Nari looked slightly uncomfortable.
“I’m truly sorry about that.”
She bowed her head apologetically.
“I’ll pay for all of her medical expenses.”
Ran thought,
“What an overacting queen…”
A short while later, members of the White Team arrived to check on Ami.
Soon, several members of the Red Team also came to apologize.
Just then, a White Team player rushed into the room.
“Good news!
We won another event!”
Everyone’s mood instantly brightened.
“Which event?”
“The Three-Legged Race!”
Three-Legged Race
The announcer’s voice echoed across the field.
“In this event, two participants will have one of their legs tied together.
They must work as a team and cross the 100-meter finish line.”
“If a team falls or intentionally causes another team to fall, they will have to restart the race.”
Five teams stood ready at the starting line.
Among them were Hana Ryuu and her younger sister, Lina Ryuu.
The whistle blew.
The race began.
At first, the two sisters fell far behind the other teams.
“We’re way behind!” Hana said.
Suddenly, an idea came to her.
Lina looked at her in disbelief.
“What?”
“Trust me.”
“Are you crazy?
That only works in manga and cartoons!”
“Just trust me!”
After a moment of hesitation, Lina agreed.
The next second, Hana began taking huge leaps forward.
The entire field was stunned.
Parents, students, and even the judges watched in disbelief.
However, the unusual strategy placed tremendous strain on their legs, and both sisters were clearly in pain.
Even so, they kept moving forward.
Little by little, they caught up with the other teams.
Only a few meters remained.
At the finish line, Hana and Lina were neck and neck with another team.
The result was so close that the judges had to review the video replay.
The entire crowd held its breath as they stared at the giant screen.
A few moments later, the result appeared.
Hana and Lina had crossed the finish line first.
The White Team had won!
The field erupted with cheers and applause.
After the race, Ran, Yui, Ami, and the rest of the team gathered around the sisters.
The marks and injuries on their legs were clearly visible.
Ran immediately brought a First Aid Kit and started treating them.
“You two were amazing.”
Hana smiled.
“If you want to win, you have to endure a little pain.”
Afterward, Ami, Yui, and Ran’s mother escorted the sisters away so they could rest.
Standing at a distance, Ran watched them leave.
A small smile appeared on his face.
The Sports Meet wasn’t over yet…
But the morale of the White Team had risen higher than ever before.
