Gangnam Village…
A place that some people also called “Gangnam Valley.”
Ran had already arrived there on his bike.
In his hand was the photo of the gangster whose wallet he wanted to return.
He first approached an elderly man sitting by the roadside.
Showing him the photo, Ran asked,
“Have you seen this man anywhere?
Or could you tell me where he lives?”
The old man carefully looked at the photo.
“He headed toward the farm a little while ago.”
“Thank you.”
Ran immediately rode toward the farm.
However, when he arrived, he couldn’t find anyone there.
All around him were fields and the sound of strong winds.
Feeling a little frustrated, Ran started looking around.
Then he noticed a lady working nearby.
Walking over to her, he showed the same photo again.
“Excuse me…
Have you seen this man anywhere around here?”
The lady looked at the photo and shook her head.
“No, I haven’t seen him.”
After some time, he stopped at a small shop.
He was extremely thirsty.
He bought a bottle of water, drank it, and then showed the photo to the shopkeeper as well.
“Do you know this man?”
But once again, he received no useful information.
After finishing the water, Ran stood beside his bike.
Now he was feeling very hungry.
He checked his pocket…
Then his expression suddenly dropped.
“Seriously…?”
He had forgotten his wallet at home.
Sitting on his bike, Ran began thinking.
“The address on the wallet is from Gangnam…
But I found him in Seoul…”
After a few seconds of thought, he quietly muttered,
“Could it be that he actually lives in Seoul?”
He was just about to start his bike when an elderly grandmother from a small fast-food shop nearby called out to him.
“Son, come here for a moment.”
Ran looked toward her and walked over to the shop.
The grandmother smiled and said,
“Could you help me carry these food boxes inside?”
“Sure.”
He picked up all the boxes and carried them inside the shop.
The grandmother was pleased with his help.
“Very good, son.”
Then she went inside and returned with a special bowl of ramen, placing it in front of Ran.
“Here, eat this.”
Ran immediately tried to refuse.
“No, there’s no need for that—”
But the grandmother interrupted him.
“Just sit down and eat.
You look like you’ve been hungry for a long time.”
Ran stared at her for a few seconds…
Then slowly took a seat.
Steam rose from the hot bowl of ramen.
And after a long time…
Perhaps for the first time, someone had served him food with such genuine warmth and kindness.
