🪽 Extra Update on Anniversary Celebration 🪽
The next day, Qi Yan woke up at six o’clock.
After listening to the white noise aboard the starship for so long, a person would instinctively stop noticing that it was even there.
Perhaps because he had slept for too long, his head felt heavy and he was somewhat thirsty.
Qi Yan turned over in bed and immediately saw a glass of water placed beside the bed, along with an apple inside a food storage container.
Every piece had been cut into the shape of a rabbit.
He remembered that yesterday, when he had gone to the kitchen, he had wanted to get an apple.
But he had forgotten.
Later, Lu Fenghan had told him that when he woke up the next morning, he would be able to see an apple carved into a rabbit.
Qi Yan rubbed his face against the soft, yielding pillow and murmured as he analyzed his own emotions, “The feeling I’m having right now is… happiness.”
Pojun wished Qi Yan good morning.
“Good morning. You’re awake very early today.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the lights in the room gradually brightened, simulating the process of dawn breaking, before slowly settling into the state of natural daylight.
“Did I go to sleep as soon as I came back last night?”
Qi Yan’s voice was still slightly hoarse.
Although he had remained dizzy from the alcoholic beverage, he had not lost his memory.
He remembered Lu Fenghan carrying him back to the room, tucking him beneath the covers and then he had held onto Lu Fenghan’s sleeve.
It had not taken long before he fell asleep.
His emotions had broken through the restraints he had placed on them and he had even told Lu Fenghan that he missed him.
That sentence…
It was something the old him had wanted to say to Lu Fenghan.
Pojun said, “Yes. You successfully fell asleep after only two minutes and forty seven seconds. According to my records, last night was the fastest you have ever fallen asleep. I will record the entry ‘Low alcohol beverages aid sleep.’”
Shuffling out of bed in his slippers, Qi Yan prepared to take a shower. “Where’s the General? I’m going to shower. You’re not allowed to watch.”
The slippers were made of white fleece, specially bought for him by Lu Fenghan. A little rabbit was printed on them, making them look very much like the pair he used to wear back on Leto. Once he put them on, only a slender, cool white section of his ankle remained exposed.
“Of course. I’m closing my eyes now. The General warned me from the very beginning that I should know to behave myself, so I believe I understand what he meant.” Pojun answered Qi Yan’s question as well. “The General got up at five thirty. He is currently doing physical training in Gravity Training Room No. 01.”
Qi Yan took a quick shower and changed his clothes. While biting down on a piece of apple as he fastened his buttons, he suddenly asked Pojun somewhat indistinctly, “Do you think… the General would mind if I wore his clothes?”
Pojun did not answer immediately. Nearly twenty seconds passed before he finally said, “I just asked the General for you. The General said he doesn’t mind.”
Then he added his own opinion. “You have already worn the General’s jackets many times.”
Qi Yan had not expected Pojun to actually go and ask Lu Fenghan directly. Still, perhaps it was better that he had. He stood there hesitating for a while before leaving the room and heading to Lu Fenghan’s quarters.
Two unfinished documents were glowing on the virtual screen. A metal pen had been casually left at the edge of the desk. Qi Yan barely glanced at them. He simply walked straight to the wardrobe and took out a black shirt.
It was the one Lu Fenghan had worn when he went to Mykono Star.
When he changed into it, his heartbeat inexplicably quickened. Even his fingertips felt slightly hot as he fastened the buttons, while at the same time, there was an indescribable sense of comfort and security settling quietly over him.
Pojun praised him without the slightest hesitation. “Although the General’s clothes are slightly oversized for you, they accentuate your relaxed and casual air. They suit you very well!”
“Thank you.” Qi Yan closed the wardrobe door. “Would you praise the General like that?”
“Of course not. Because before I could even finish the fifth word, the General would tell me to shut up. According to my statistics, the General is only patient with you. He is very willing to listen to you speak. Other people, for example, Adjutant Vincent, receive treatment similar to mine. In that respect, one could say the General treats everyone equally.”
Qi Yan deliberately ignored the middle part of Pojun’s statement and asked, “You keep statistics?”
“Yes. You gave me to the General, so as an excellent artificial intelligence, I need to analyze the General’s preferences and inclinations. Otherwise, I could easily be restored to my initialized state.” Pojun was clearly very conscious of potential dangers to his continued existence.
Inside the gravity training room, Lu Fenghan had just finished a set of physical exercises. His upper body was completely bare, the taut lines of his muscles fully exposed. Because he had spent years drifting through space, his complexion was the characteristic pale shade common among the Space Force.
This was also why, whenever the various branches of the military sat together for meetings, it was usually possible to tell at a glance whether someone belonged to the army, navy, air force, or Space Force simply by looking at their complexion.
He had just caught his breath and reached for his water bottle when Pojun reminded him that Qi Yan had arrived.
The door of the gravity training room slid open to both sides.
Lu Fenghan casually switched off the 1.5 times gravity mode and reminded Qi Yan, “Walk slowly when you come in. The 1.5 times gravity hasn’t completely dissipated yet, so it might feel a little tiring to walk. You, ”
His gaze fell on Qi Yan and the unfinished warning abruptly came to a stop.
Qi Yan was wearing a black shirt today. It was somewhat loose but the slender line of his waist could still be faintly made out beneath the fabric. His complexion was already on the cool side, white as frost and once dressed entirely in black, his minimalist appearance somehow took on a breathtaking richness of color.
And most importantly, Qi Yan was wearing,
His clothes.
When Pojun had asked him earlier, Lu Fenghan had assumed Qi Yan merely wanted to borrow one of his military jackets. He had not thought much of it and had casually agreed.
But now…
Lu Fenghan felt his throat grow dry, as though a small flame had brushed against it.
Qi Yan felt somewhat uncomfortable beneath Lu Fenghan’s intensely possessive gaze. His lips were naturally thin and after he lightly pressed them together, they looked even more delicate, with a faint flush of red appearing across them.
Lu Fenghan’s gaze lingered for a second on the two undone buttons at Qi Yan’s collar. He suddenly felt hot. Seeing Qi Yan’s discomfort, he deliberately softened his voice. “It looks good.”
“What?”
“I said, you look good in my clothes. I like it very much.”
The two fell silent at the same time.
Lu Fenghan was thirsty. He tilted his head back and drank several large mouthfuls of water, the prominent line of his Adam’s apple moving up and down with each swallow as the unmistakably masculine, hormonal presence around him spread without restraint.
The gravity training facility had small rooms for individual use as well as large rooms designed for multiple people. Lu Fenghan had previously preferred training in the larger rooms because they were more spacious and made it convenient to find someone for sparring.
However, it was not long before Vincent came to tell him that he had been collectively ostracized.
Vincent had even given him an analogy. “Commander, you’re a typical tiger or leopard in the jungle. You’re suited to moving alone. Even if you only occupy a corner, everyone else in the room will be affected. They’ll become constrained and uncomfortable and even their rhythm of exercise will end up being influenced by you. Same sex attraction causes rivalry and people will inevitably try to one up each other. You understand, right?”
From then on, Lu Fenghan often trained in Gravity Training Room No. 01. However, even when he was not there, the other members of the expeditionary force would not enter it.
Vincent explained it to him this way: “That’s your territory. There are too many traces of you in there and the smell is too strong. Anyone else who went inside and tried doing even a few push ups would feel uncomfortable all over.”
Lu Fenghan thought that was nothing more than twisted logic. Nevertheless, from then on, he consciously trained alone, occasionally dragging Duchamp and a few others in to accompany him during sparring sessions.
However, he had discovered long ago that Qi Yan did not dislike staying close to him.
Not only did he not dislike it but from time to time, he would even reveal a faint expression that seemed almost like comfort and reassurance.
“Did you drink that glass of water?”
Hearing Lu Fenghan ask, Qi Yan answered seriously, “I drank one third of it. I finished the apple.”
“Mm.” Lu Fenghan handed him the water bottle. “Drink two more mouthfuls. You went to bed early last night and didn’t drink much water. Your lips are already dry.”
Qi Yan took it from him and obediently drank two more mouthfuls.
After finishing, he sat down on the exercise equipment beside him and watched Lu Fenghan continue his physical training, while simultaneously working on something else in his mind, constructing the interference frequency for ‘Thousand Mile Eye.’
A few minutes later, Magelyn strode into the room and announced without the slightest restraint, “Commander, I’m here to get beaten up!”
The first person she spotted was Qi Yan. She greeted him, then looked twice at the shirt he was wearing, feeling as though she had seen it somewhere before.
She and Wayne, Duchamp and the others all had an excellent impression of Qi Yan. For one thing, Qi Yan had saved Lu Fenghan; on top of being good looking and having a pleasant personality, he was also intelligent. For another, Qi Yan was the key to whether or not she could become the richest person in the Expeditionary Force!
When she turned her gaze toward Lu Fenghan, she could not help staring blankly before letting out a curse.
The C class bent arm support jumps had been mocked by Lu Fenghan as a “performance oriented training exercise” several years ago. Given the same amount of time, they were less effective than the A class version. Other than looking impressive, they had absolutely no other advantages.
Yet at this very moment, Magelyn watched Lu Fenghan perform the C class bent arm support jumps so flawlessly that the entire sequence could be recorded and used as an instructional video. Those muscle lines, the trails of sweat, that formidable presence, any random snapshot posted on Xingwang would be enough to launch their commander into stardom on the spot!
Then she looked over at Qi Yan, who was watching with complete concentration and suddenly understood everything. She wanted nothing more than to laugh three times at the top of her lungs before going to share today’s discovery with Long Xiyun and the others!
Feeling that their commander was actually rather childish, Magelyn was struck by a strange sense of gratification.
Usually, Lu Fenghan was far too hard on himself under the title of “Commander in Chief.” He had hardly any hobbies at all; he neither indulged in eating, drinking, sleeping, nor gambling.
Even Wayne would listen to a couple of rock songs while piloting the starship. Lu Fenghan, on the other hand, probably knew nothing about music beyond the First Military Academy’s school anthem. His greatest pastime when he had free time was playing simulated strategy games but that counted as tactical and situational awareness training, so it could hardly be called a pastime.
Besides, Lu Fenghan was always busy.
Just like this time after returning, he had to clean up the mess caused by the great defeat, conduct internal investigations, deal with the traitors, give an account to both the living and the dead, win and secure a great victory and rebuild the confidence of the alliance and the Expeditionary Force…
Having a little more youthful vitality now was no easy thing!
Magelyn secretly felt fortunate once again. Fortunately, she was only a fleet captain and did not have nearly as many things to deal with. Otherwise, she really would not have had the time to maintain her own hobbies.
With complicated feelings in her heart, Magelyn moved two steps closer and asked Qi Yan, “Our commander has a good physique, right?”
Qi Yan nodded and answered honestly, “Very good.”
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of their commander’s movements pausing for half a second because of those two words.
Tsk. That destructive power was practically a high energy particle cannon!
Taking advantage of Lu Fenghan turning around, Magelyn secretly stuffed a towel into Qi Yan’s hands. She blinked and whispered, “For wiping his sweat.”
Then she returned to her normal volume and said, “The commander’s busy and I’m too lazy to wait for him. I’m going to find Duchamp and Wayne and beat them up!”
Humming a few random lines of a song, Magelyn thought to herself, I really am clever, people have to learn to work hard for themselves. For example, right now, I’m definitely one step closer to becoming the richest person in the Expeditionary Force!
Another twenty minutes passed before Lu Fenghan finally stopped his physical training for the day.
The muscles on his body were well proportioned and restrained, without appearing exaggerated. The proportions of his waist, abdomen and arms were exceptionally excellent. Sweat slid down from the side of his neck, tracing the lines of his abdominal and waist muscles before finally soaking the uppermost edge of his trousers and turning the fabric a darker shade.
He had never been particularly particular about such things. He was just about to grab his clothes and put them on when he suddenly noticed that Qi Yan had moved closer. A towel was in his hand and he was wiping the sweat from Lu Fenghan’s chest.
Lu Fenghan’s entire body abruptly tensed. He reached out and caught Qi Yan by the wrist.
His palm was far warmer than Qi Yan’s yet he was careful not to use any force.
Qi Yan looked at him in confusion. “General?”
Lu Fenghan drew a deep breath.
The tips of his hair were damp and even his eyelashes were wet with sweat. His eyes were dark and deep, while his voice was slightly hoarse. “Sit down and rest, be good. I can wipe it myself.”
At the same time, he thought to himself, Magelyn Stuart, you’ve really outdone yourself!
