“I’m not tempting enough for you?” Evelynn let out a soft laugh, her voice dripping with seduction.
As she spoke, her hands slowly traveled over her own body, gliding across her breasts, down her waist, and around to her ass with deliberate sensuality.
“I’ve met plenty of men who said no while their bodies were practically begging me to drain them dry.”
“What a shame. I really wanted to watch your eyes twist with pleasure until they rolled completely white. But if you can resist my temptation, then I suppose I’ll just have to settle for skinning you alive and tearing you apart piece by piece.”
Evelynn’s smile widened.
“Just imagining myself bathing in your blood makes me wet.”
No matter how incredibly seductive Evelynn was, Levi had absolutely no desire to find out what it felt like to be tortured by her.
Evelynn’s body gradually became invisible, fading into the night until she completely merged with the darkness and vanished without a trace.
“Invisibility!”
Suddenly, something sliced through the air behind him.
A lash followed a split second later, and Levi threw himself into a roll, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Stone fragments exploded in every direction.
One of the lashers extending from Evelynn’s back smashed into the already uneven ground, leaving behind a deep crater.
Dust billowed into the air, and Evelynn disappeared into the darkness once again.
“Not bad. If you just stood there like a piece of wood, you’d take all the fun out of this.”
Evelynn’s voice sounded like the whisper of a deathly specter, sending chills crawling across Levi’s skin.
Evelynn knew her own tastes perfectly.
She preferred, or more accurately, needed, her prey to feel every stab, every bite, every shred of flesh carved away by her claws.
If Levi were dull, unresponsive, and incapable of reacting, then he wouldn’t even be worth her time.
What she wanted was for her prey to die in the greatest agony possible.
Sometimes the enemy standing right in front of you wasn’t nearly as terrifying as the one you couldn’t see.
At the very least, Levi couldn’t properly fight back against an invisible opponent.
Evelynn’s voice suddenly sounded beside his ear.
Levi’s expression changed sharply.
A cluster of spikes plunged into his arm, and searing pain tore through him as chunks of flesh were ripped away.
Blood immediately poured from the wounds.
Levi quickly backed against a damaged wall beside the road, breathing heavily.
At least this way, Evelynn wouldn’t be able to appear directly behind him.
“Heal!”
Levi clutched his blood-soaked left arm.
A pale green glow flashed over the wound, stopping the bleeding and dulling most of the pain.
“Oh my, you’re even a mage. I’ll have to savor you very carefully later.”
Evelynn’s voice rang out once more.
“Levi, what’s wrong?”
Sarah emerged from the corner, rubbing her groggy head.
A moment earlier, she had only felt her head suddenly grow heavy, as though someone had knocked her unconscious.
As a demon, Evelynn didn’t truly have a gender.
In that sense, it could also be said that she preyed on both men and women.
She could assume virtually any appearance necessary to lure humans toward their doom.
As for why she hadn’t attacked Miss Fortune, perhaps Evelynn simply preferred conscious prey.
If her victims couldn’t clearly experience their suffering, then most of Evelynn’s pleasure would be lost as well.
Seeing Sarah unharmed finally eased the tension in Levi’s chest, but then a thought struck him and his expression changed.
“Sarah, watch out!”
Levi immediately realized the danger.
Evelynn had already lost interest in seducing him, which meant she might turn her attention toward Sarah instead.
He rushed forward, wrapped his arms around the still-dazed Sarah, and prepared to get both of them out of there first.
But at that exact moment, Evelynn appeared again.
A slender lasher stabbed into Levi’s back.
Levi sucked in a sharp breath from the pain.
“Levi!”
Panic filled Sarah’s voice.
The sight of blood spraying from Levi’s back instantly jolted her awake, clearing away the haze the alcohol had left in her mind.
Sarah drew her pistols and scanned their surroundings, but there wasn’t the slightest trace of anyone nearby.
“Levi, are you okay?”
Her voice was filled with distress as she stared at the blood running down his back, tears even beginning to glimmer in her eyes.
“I’m fine.”
Levi gritted his teeth and stared into the silent darkness around them, carefully sensing everything nearby.
His mind raced as he waited for Evelynn’s next attack.
“There!”
Levi let out a low roar and pulled Sarah aside while flames ignited around his other hand.
Evelynn’s spike struck empty air, but her figure appeared for a brief instant.
Levi swept out his hand, and fierce flames engulfed Evelynn’s entire body.
Ignite was a damage-over-time Summoner Spell cast on a single enemy champion.
Over five seconds, it dealt true damage, granted vision of the target, and reduced the target’s healing and regeneration.
That vision was exactly what Levi wanted.
Sure enough, Evelynn didn’t disappear again.
The raging flames forced a piercing scream from her throat.
“Dark Procession!”
One specter after another burst from beneath the ground, forming a wall that trapped Evelynn inside.
Immediately afterward, a Cocoon struck Evelynn squarely, binding her tightly in place.
“Try this!”
Levi roared.
Five spectral cavalrymen appeared behind him.
Several sharp whistles tore through the air as all five charged straight toward Evelynn.
That’s right.
This was the Harrowing, the ultimate ability of Hecarim, the Shadow of War.
Somehow, Levi had obtained this incredible ability from his battle with Hecarim.
Sarah also raised her pistols and unleashed a dense barrage of gunfire at the figure trapped behind the spectral wall.
“Damn you!”
Evelynn roared unwillingly.
Under the overwhelming barrage, her voice gradually became distorted, turning shrill and horrifying.
When the smoke and dust finally cleared, Evelynn’s body was riddled with holes, her original shape almost impossible to recognize.
Yet no blood flowed from her wounds.
Perhaps demons simply didn’t possess blood in the first place.
Evelynn’s body slowly twisted and deformed until it became a vaguely humanoid shadow, with only an eerie red glow shining from its eyes.
“Levi, was it? I’ll remember you. The pain you’ve caused me today will be returned a hundredfold. I’ll make you my favorite little toy, and you’ll beg me to kill you!”
Evelynn’s mangled form released a hysterical scream as her silhouette gradually faded away.
Only after Evelynn had completely disappeared did Levi and Sarah finally collapse onto the ground in relief, both of them gasping for breath.
“What the hell was that thing?”
Sarah’s voice trembled.
What she had just witnessed had been far too bizarre even for her.
Levi patted her shoulder.
“A demon. She seduces people and then kills them.”
“Just now, she transformed into you and tried to seduce me. Good thing my willpower is so strong, or I probably wouldn’t be alive right now.”
Levi paused, let out a breath, and then looked at Sarah with an amused expression.
“Am I really that unattractive?”
Sarah shot him an annoyed look and punched him in the chest.
Levi immediately grimaced in pain.
Remembering that he was injured, Sarah’s expression changed at once, her face filling with concern.
“Sorry. I forgot you were hurt.”
Using whatever she had available, Sarah tore strips of cloth from her skirt and prepared to give Levi’s wounds a simple bandaging.
She stared at the long wound across Levi’s back with a deep frown, and even the fingers gently brushing against his back trembled slightly.
