Back At Mischief (2)

Now, the 2nd phase was to ask Rose Marilyn if they could serve their important guest for the week.

So, the next day, they went to her office on the lowest floor and banged on it till she shouted for them to open.Full novel: Lord Grim: Arch Elder Wizard Across The Eons Of Time — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The kids trailed in like a train and looked at her questioning gaze.

“Good morning, ma’am.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be in class?

Scram!”

“Will you tell the owner about what we did?”

“What does that have to do with you?

Scram!”

“Wait, we just want to help.”

“Yes, we can clean, sweep and carry the food trays around for you.”

She grabbed the whip and before she stood up, John was crying with his bum to the floor, Tumunomi Escaver was rolling back and forth as he has practiced, Andrew was on his knees, Jake had puppy dog eyes and was begging her while Ivan lay down as he repeatedly asked her to reconsider.

“Please Mrs.

Rose Marilyn.

“I beg you Mrs.

Marilyn.

“Mrs.

Marilyn you can even marry me.”

“I love you Mrs.

Marilyn.”

“You can whip me all you want Mrs.

Marilyn.”

She paused.

“What is this?” She then realized what she had heard and started laughing even though she wanted to tell them to shut up.

“Okay, okay, okay, OKAY!” she looked at them.

“If you can cook for me this week and I like it then I will consider it.

“

“But only after classes!”

“Thank you Mrs.

Marilyn.”

“I love you Mrs.

Marilyn.”

“I only joked about the whip Mrs.

Marilyn.”

“Oh, for me I don’t mind you, Mrs.

Marilyn, as my wife.”

“Shut up and SCRAM.”

She was half angry and half shocked but she only truly laughed after they left.

That very day, they had walked into the kitchen with unrivaled confidence.

“You there, what’s your name?”

The kitchen staff was taken aback.

“What are you doing here, come to steal again?”

“No, Mrs.

Marilyn said we should come test our cooking skills here.”

“No you idiot,” Andrew slapped Jakes head.

“We are supposed to gain cooking skills until she was satisfied.”

The staff stared at them skeptically before reaching a wall that was closest to the door.

After dialing some numbers on an Archaic Telephone, he nodded and slammed it back to its holder.

“Well then, follow me.”

They all marched behind him and he led them to were there were wardrobes after a narrow corridor then a turn to a door with a male sign.

In this room behind a curtain was another space.

“Take a shower and change into these.

The laundry machine is there to pick up your clothes when you are done, I will be outside.

“

He then paused and turned back.

“My eyes are on you.”

The man slowly walked away after glaring at them like a hawk until he left.

They all slapped each others palms and got undressed.

Stepping out of that door, the bunch of kids met him outside and he took them to another room that was located around the side room they had 1st entered when hey had entered where he had made a call.

In this room, were tables and knives and blood and meat and mean looking people.

John even ran behind Jacob when he saw someone with a scar under his eyes who cleanly cut meat before glancing at him with a grin.

Jake flinched when he saw joints being separated and Ivan’s legs began shaking.

In fact, it was only Tumunomi Escaver and Jacob who seemed indifferent to everything

They glanced at each other and back at the man.

“Who would want to be in this section?”

Tumunomi Escaver and Jacob held out their hands and the man was surprised as he thought their indifference was an act.

“Okay, James Farlorn!”

Someone came into view from among the many chopping meat, breaking bones and removing innards from the dead pieces of protein.

“These 2 are volunteers, let them have a go at it.”

He waved them cheerily and squatted to keep them at eye level.’

“Hello, there.

You want to learn how to dismember raw food?”

They nodded.

“Good, come this way.”

The 1st man took the others away who winked at Tumunomi Escaver and Jacob before staring straight ahead.

They were both shown that it was best to target the joints if he wanted to dismember the pieces.

The man even showed them how to debone areas without joints and how to remove meat in every other parts.

Tumunomi Escaver even asked for a model of the muscular structure and Jacob began wondering what was going through his mind until he softened his gaze to realize the guy was probably just into his role.

Apart from standing on a chair and making sure he did not fall, Tumunomi Escaver really did not have issues with the meat – if the animal was not an Epic Beast.

He had been taught In classes that when an Epic Beast was born – as in when an Unawakened Animal began cultivation – a Class 0 Epic Beast – or became a Class 1 Epic Beast , he should even forget about wanting to break its bones or even strip its meat if it were uncooked.

At that stage of an animals life, if he met it in the wild he would be a goner for sure.

So, Tumunomi Escaver was handed only the killed Unawakened animals.

And he was very awkward with it at first until the man laughed and held his hands.

“You have to be deliberate and decisive.”

The experienced butcher smashed the end of the knife on the table and separated the thigh from the main body and he did the other legs before given him a fresh body of chicken and wanted him to copy it.

Tumunomi Escaver rolled his sleeves and proceeded with his assignment.

Andrew did washing the utensils, Jake wanted to be washing the food and John did the actual cooking.

When they met in my their room, and before they slept off or before they could do anything else, Tumunomi Escaver got to laugh in telling them about how pathetic they appeared before hitting the mattresses.

Apart from Jacob who seemed distantly tired or Tumunomi Escaver who had long began exercises and his own personal fitness schedule after and before his chores.

The latter felt aches In his arms but he was excited from doing a sort of workout.

Tumunomi Escaver was excited because he was learning a new skill.

Personally, he was not a work out freak but it was what he used to comfort himself when he was not picked by a foster parent and when he cried he would workout until he forgot.

It was another reason why Derek meant so much to him, they used to work out together.

He clenched his fists until they shook and be was looking forward to meeting this owner.

Tumunomi Escaver went into considering of continue being in the kitchen even after their stunt…

…But that was if he came back…

He would find a way to leave them out of what he was going to do as… Professional courtesy.

Derek had taught him that word

The week went by and he had progress in what he did.

Even though at the end, he did not know if he was a knife person.

Either ways, they had started sneaking things out which had been the main point of the whole thing.

That Sunday night, they hit the covers tired and Tumunomi Escaver could not wait for the morrow.

Everything had gone easy.

They were getting more food, from their growing ‘snatching’ skills.

And, sometimes, they were even given extra food for their work.

That was not even counting contribution points.

The day of the weekend there was obviously no school.

The orphans were lined up within the hall in different lines for the different classes in anticipation of the owner showing up.

All of them waited until 9 when she opened the door and as everyone smiled and shouted and screamed, Tumunomi Escaver scowled but she did not meet his eyes.

The lady had on a jacket, dark shades, a gown that stopped at her thighs, boots that had heels, a bag the same color of her gown which was studded with glittering stones.

And she chewed gum.

Her smile made the kids go happier, and not only his friends because it meant they would be eating more, but because she being here meant the staff would act kinder to them by not hitting them when they late to class or beating them for their mistakes to eventually dish out punishments to them.

Tumunomi Escaver and his friends had done their part in the kitchen today and he idly wondered why he had not considered putting laxatives, sleeping powder or some sort of pesticides.

He did not want to think poison, because he needed answers.

So, his target was useful conscious and responsive.

Right now, Tumunomi Escaver knew that she would be giving her speech in the hall.

So, the waiters and the chefs and the deboners and the washers all peeped through the hole in the kitchen curtains that was before where they would have serving stands which finally preceded where the owner of the building was talking.

The kids cheered outside after about 15 minutes and everyone was waiting for the servers who did indeed come out at some point.

Then, they passed by every row pushing through multiple layers of young bodies.

Hence, whoever was last on the line they served before returning back to the kitchen before bringing out more would not have a choice in what they picked.

But then all the dishes were covered so it was still a 50-50.

“Hey, little guy what’s wrong?”

Tumunomi Escaver had to be the one serving the owner, he had to meet her directly and he was not sure how to ask.

He was currently staring at the man, as he was bad in acting but he needed to be convincing and he needed immediate response.

The man laughed, “do you have nerves?

It’s okay.”

He looked at the guy before looking away then asking.

“Can I be the one to serve her?”

The man’s breath caught.

“I don’t know if you can, but that-“

“Please,” he fell on his knees.

And the man took another look at pitiful him before nodding.

This was his own finishing phase to their plan, a personal finale.
