“You really don’t look like a gangster.”

Levi said with a smile.

gentleman.”

Lorine turned her head and looked at Levi without a trace of emotion:

“What exactly do you want?”

Levi smiled and said meaningfully:

“I’m very interested in you.

I want to join the Hyena Gang.”

Lorine raised her eyebrows:

“Is there any connection between being interested in me and joining the Hyena Gang?

If you want to be my mistress, you don’t necessarily have to join the Hyena Gang…”

“Sorry, I’m not joining the Hyena Gang because I want to be your mistress.

I simply want to join a gang.”

Levi couldn’t listen anymore and interrupted Lorine.

Lorine heard this and said decisively:

“I refuse your application.”

“Why?” Levi instinctively asked in return.

“I’ve studied fighting techniques.

You saw it downstairs just now; I’m a good fighter.”

Lorine showed a look of disdain:

“What do you think a gang represents?

Gangs are blood, filth, sin, and betrayal.

They are about bullying the weak and trampling on conscience, not the fighting and killing you see in those brainless novels…”

“I know.

I’m well aware of what gangs are.

I’ve seen blood and filth.”

Levi interrupted Lorine again and said expressionlessly.

Lorine stopped speaking and sized Levi up with a cold expression.

After a long while, she sighed and said:

“Fine, I can give you a task.

If you complete it, I’ll take you to see ‘Madam Red,’ and she will decide whether you can join the Hyena Gang.”

“Tell me, what task?”

A glint flashed in Levi’s eyes; he had finally seen some progress.

Lorine thought for a moment and said slowly:

“I have a thug named Luca under me.

He borrowed a lot of money from prostitutes for gambling and lost everything.

After he was found out, he fled to our rival, the Black Scorpion Gang.

Go and take Luca out.”

Then, she described Luca’s appearance and whereabouts.

“Fine.

Do I need to bring his head back?”

Levi nodded and asked with feigned seriousness.

He only said this to maintain his cold-blooded and ruthless persona, not because he actually wanted to cut off someone’s head.

“As you wish, as long as you can prove he’s dead.

But…

don’t push yourself, or you’ll die a miserable death.”

Lorine glanced at Levi without showing much emotion.

“Good.

That kid doesn’t have long to live.”

Levi left behind those harsh words and prepared to leave the room.

“Wait, what’s your name?”

Lorine looked at his back and asked somewhat hesitantly.

“Livier.”

Levi didn’t look back and walked out of the Kingfisher Bar amidst the noise.

After walking a few hundred meters down Iron Cross Street, he arrived at the Black Scorpion Gang’s territory.

The Black Scorpion Gang didn’t operate entertainment venues like bars because most of the prostitutes and dancers on Iron Cross Street were controlled by the Hyena Gang, which naturally monopolized the dance hall and bar business.

The Black Scorpion Gang’s power was mainly in factories and workshops.

They earned money through usury, selling poor people who couldn’t repay their debts to factories, while also engaging in trafficking and kidnapping.

Those targeted by them would be sold to sunless factories and workshops to work until death, with no wages and no freedom.

In their own jargon, they were called ‘black workers’.

The government has specific legislation to combat illegal labor and human trafficking, but unfortunately, it has little effect.

One reason is the complex terrain of the Iron Cross Street slums, where old buildings are intertwined; a basement next to a normal grocery store might house a small workshop controlling a dozen illegal laborers.

Secondly, these gangs and the police department have some kind of kickback arrangement—something anyone could guess with their eyes closed.

Considering that entering the factories and workshops as a beautiful woman would be too conspicuous, Levi bought a common set of light blue factory overalls from a grocery store in advance and put them over his clothes.

Then, he bought a large peaked cap, tucked all his hair inside, and used the brim to hide his beautiful face.

Feeling the disguise was insufficient, he also put on a grease-stained mask.

From the outside, he looked like an ordinary female factory worker, just with a better figure…

Because even the loose factory overalls couldn’t completely hide his graceful curves.

“Next time, I should use less cotton padding…”

Levi sighed and began to head deeper into the factory district.

As an ordinary person with no real skills who had just joined the Black Scorpion Gang, Luca likely wouldn’t be assigned any important tasks but would instead be a thug guarding some factory.

Levi utilized his abilities, carefully hiding in the shadows to scout out those illegal factories and larger workshops.

Levi was in luck.

When he scouted the seventh workshop, he spotted Luca.

He matched Lorine’s description perfectly: a thin build, but with a bloated bulbous nose, and exceptionally conspicuous green hair.

He was sitting in a dilapidated rocking chair in front of a single-story building, leisurely smoking low-quality tobacco and looking at the gray sky.

Inside, a dozen female workers were using hand-operated looms to weave cloth; it looked like a normal textile workshop.

Levi scouted the surroundings and found no ambushes.

He slowly approached, staying in the shadow of another building.

In the gloomy weather, he easily slipped up beside Luca, his hand gripping the sharp feneport dagger from an inner pocket.

At that moment, the heart in his chest began to throb.

Whether in his past life or this one, Levi had never killed anyone.

And now, the sharp, cold glint of the dagger was aimed right at Luca’s neck.

“He’s a damn gangster.

He cheated many people out of their money.

He’s involved in human trafficking…”

Levi kept muttering to himself in his mind, trying to ease his psychological burden, but it wasn’t very effective.

From the moral perspective of his previous life, cheating people out of money alone wasn’t enough to sentence someone to death, and as for the human trafficking business, Levi hadn’t personally seen Luca engage in it…

After several deep breaths, Levi finally suppressed his rapidly beating heart and fixed his emotionless gaze on Luca:

“May you be a good person in your next life.”

He suddenly lunged out from the shadows, using the Assassin’s Full-Force Strike ability, and the blade slashed violently across Luca’s carotid artery.

Pfft!

A large spray of bright red blood erupted, splattering all over Levi’s light blue factory overalls.

In that instant, as he was splattered with blood, Levi felt a strange sensation within his body, as if some valve had loosened—it was refreshing and liberating.

Luca collapsed without making a sound.

Levi caught his limp body, dragged it away from the doorway, and dumped it against a wall to prevent the female workers inside from noticing and causing a commotion.

He looked at Luca’s rapidly paling face and gripped his dagger, but he simply couldn’t bring himself to cut off the head.

In resignation, he had to settle for cutting off a lock of Luca’s green hair as evidence.

Levi stood up, took off the blood-stained overalls, and prepared to return to the Kingfisher Bar to report his success.

Just then, with a loud bang, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet came whistling toward him!
