After a moment of necessary rest, Lumian decided that it was best to test out his new abilities that he gained from becoming a Beginner Necromancer. The first thing he did was close his eyes and feel his connection to Aethon. The darkness in his eyes slowly cleared up to see a view of himself on the ground as if he was perched on a nearby branch. Fly. Commanding Aethon, Lumian saw through Aethon's perspective as he flapped his wings and hovered in the sky, circling around a few times.
It was at this moment Lumian opened his eyes while still seeing through Aethons' at the same time causing a bit of disorientation to happen as he slowly got used to the feeling of being able to see from two completely different perspectives. Like this, I won’t have to ever worry about an enemy from behind. Lumian thought smugly to himself.
I wonder what will happen if I connect to all of my summons like this? Putting thought to action, Lumian did the same to his summons as he done to Aethon but was suddenly hit with such a dense wave of information it caused a massive outbreak of sensory overload to his retinas, ears and brain.
"AAAHH!!!!" Turn it off now! After screaming out in pain, Lumian felt a massive migraine and a dizzy spell coming on making him sit down and lean against a nearby tree scrunching his face in as he tried to relieve the pain.
Taking some time, the pain eventually died down allowing him to collect himself. Note to self, don't activate that on all summons at the same time. I may need to practice getting used to it gradually over time instead. Thinking to himself, Lumian takes his own thoughts to heart as he gets up feeling hungry from overexerting himself against the cyclops.
Seeing as the cyclops has an intense pressure that prevents animals from coming close, Lumian decided to use Aethon to scout ahead to find any worthwhile animals to eat his fill. Sharing Aethons' senses, he 'saw' that there was a wild boar roaming around and sniffing not far from him.
Stalking the boar, Lumian crept up until the boar just barely noticed his presence before he thrust the knife through the boar’s throat, slashing as he went past ensuring the boar was dead. Finding some nearby branches to use as kindling, Lumian set up a quick fire becoming more proficient over time preparing the boar meat roasting it slowly over the fire making sizzling sounds.
Once the meat was thoroughly cooked, Lumian ate his fill, the taste of pork meat juicily filling his mouth causing him to almost moan in ecstasy at the taste. Dusk slowly arriving, he went back near the cyclops corpse to ensure his safety before grabbing the fox fur out of his bag to sleep under gazing at the unfamiliar, yet slowly becoming familiar, worlds sky thinking it wasn't so bad, if only his family were there with him at this moment. Becoming drowsy, Lumian eventually closed his eyes and fell asleep softly.
Waking up, Lumian stretched his muscles from not having to sleep uncomfortably on a branch, yet on the ground forest floor which was also slightly uncomfortable with the sun’s rays peeking through. After the major stretch, Lumian took his time to wake up before getting back into his routine of practicing his knife skills ensuring that it wasn't staying behind his necromancer skills. However, despite gaining the apprenticeship level of wielding a knife, he felt that the weapon wasn't his most suited type and that there was possibly something more suitable, yet, not knowing what that could be.
Once the exercising was over, Lumian wiped down his sweat then prepared his things to continue walking through the forest. As he did this, he connected his senses with Aethon to use as a precautionary measure as a scout in case any harmful enemies were up ahead or behind his trail.
Many a moments later, the forest started to appear misty decreasing the amount of distance Lumian can see through the mist. This meant Lumian needed to train his senses further to ensure he doesn't step in any traps or difficult terrain in the mist that can damage his progress of getting out of the forest.
A few hours later, the mist seemed to have died down a bit but left an unsettling creepy silence that pervades the area where it appears as if there is no wildlife. Weird, but it’s not like this hasn't happened before, maybe it’s just an area that used to have a dominating monster’s presence like the cyclops before it left for another territory. I guess its best if I leave this area quickly in case it comes back. Coming to this sort of conclusion, Lumian picked up the pace while using Aethon to make sure nothing he thought about becomes a true prediction.
Lumian noticed that the area has changed as sounds of wildlife started to return meaning no strong predators were nearby and hearing his stomach rumbling decided that it was best to consume something before he starves.
Finding some rabbits and birds, Lumian hunted a couple of them using Aethon to hunt the bird while he stabbed the rabbit on the ground, skinning them and unplucking the bird’s feathers before preparing a fire to cook them over. It has been a while having bird meat to Lumian and it made quite the change of pace from the usual meats. The poultry had a reminiscent taste to turkey but was of a slightly stronger flavour.
However, Lumian was unable to fully enjoy his meal this time as it attracted the presence of a few nearby monsters which he caught a glimpse of through Aethon circling the air. Groaning to himself, he relented and put down the meat and drew his knife and the spiders to face the ambush head on.
Looking through Aethon, he notices that these monsters looked like large bears but had some glowing crystals coming out of the back of them. Looking at them through Aethon, he was still able to find weaknesses using his ability from the apprentice knife wielding allowing him to notice that two of them were smaller and followed the bigger one. Looks like a mother and its cubs, they would be more dangerous if allowed to get close.
Taking this into consideration, Lumian thought it best to command the spiders to meet the bears first to at least cause paralysis before killing them off as it was not worth trying to fight a battle with three enemies with unknown abilities. The spiders crawled into position and ambushed the bears making them roar out in pain and crush the spiders creating large tremors in the ground as Lumian lied in wait for the paralysis to kick in. It didn't take too long only a few minutes allowing him to go ahead and thrust his knife deep into their necks and slash them open.
Once the threat was dealt with, Lumian went ahead and finished off his meal that started to grow cold and it becomes dusk before he knew it. Finding a nearby tree, he climbed one of its branches and fell asleep to prepare himself for the next day.
