Waking up to a breezy early morning, Lumian started his day by stretching his muscles and packing up before walking in the forest at an accelerated pace as he is starting to lose his patience constantly seeing the forest greenery. The sky which was sunny stated to become unusually cloudy with what looked to be grey clouds threating to release a deluge of rain upon the land, yet thankfully the clouds were only passing by ensuring that the sunlight endures for a while longer. However, Lumian took this as a sign that at some point soon, there will be a possibility of rain coming soon thus, takes this into account when jogging through the forest.
After a few hours, Lumian started to feel hunger pangs thus leading him to slow down slightly in search of his next hunt. In the immediate vicinity of his location, he found a few small snakes slithering around; despite not really feeling the idea of eating snakes as food, his hunger makes him not really have a choice.
Taking that into consideration, Lumian took action against them and got Aethon to attack and kill them as he started to prepare the fire. Aethon returned with the two fresh corpses as Lumian stuck them onto branch sticks to cook them. After a slight hesitation, Lumian took a small bite to test the taste, and it was not what he expected as it was like a gamey form of chicken with its earthy texture and was much chewier than chicken.
Once the meal was cleaned off, Lumian decided that it was best to get into practicing his abilities of a Necromancer to ensure that he can use more than one shadow to see and hear from them. After a brief amount of time, he has finally managed to see through two different shadows but starts to feel slight dizziness from the third making good progress in this direction.
BOOM!!
Suddenly a loud explosion was heard a bit further up in the direction that he was moving, letting his senses on Aethon take hold, he 'saw' a large blueish fire appearing further into the forest as loud hissing sounds and yips can be heard in the fire’s direction. Taking an interest in this, he orders Aethon to fly closer to see what was going on and if it was worth it to dive in or avoid.
Upon looking into the situation, there seems to be two distinctly large basilisks roughly appearing fifteen feet in length circling and toying with what looked to be a small white furred fox with blue markings almost like a language on its fur coat as fire started to be produced by its three tails. Amazing. While thinking that looking at the fox mesmerised, Lumian saw that the basilisks have done numerous wounds marring the pristine white fur coat bloody.
Deciding a course of action, Lumian went above the trees into the flames while summoning the bats and spiders, getting them ready as he hid his presence concealing his hostile killing intent towards the creatures.
Just when the basilisk on the foxes left was about to strike again a loud screeching sound could be head near its head causing the snake to writhe its head back and forth trying to get away from the ear-piercing noise as its partner started to look around wearily for an attack. Noticing the distraction of the basilisks, the fox sent flames in the direction on the right whiles jumping away from a possible attack in its direction. The flames directly hit the basilisk in the middle of the body creating a charred layer of skin causing it to hiss in pain before looking in the direction of the fox.
Meanwhile, Lumian sent in the spiders to repeatedly bite into the basilisk on the left while it was distracted by the bat’s screeches hoping that it becomes paralysed so that he goes in for a kill. While this is happening, the fox and other basilisk were fighting in a severe one on one duel which caused extreme damage to the environment around them.
Roughly five minutes passed by, and the deaths of the spiders and bats happened during that time forcing Lumian to re-summon them to continue the attack. Suddenly, one of the basilisks fell allowing Lumian to rush in from his heightened position to blind the snakes’ eyes before targeting its neck in surprise.
Taking out one basilisk gave the chance for the fox to breathe before the second basilisk hisses in anger dragging its gaze towards the aggressor. That's right look at me, forget about the magical fox. Thinking this internally, Lumian ran away from the basilisk that started to sliver in his direction before being hit by the fireballs created by the fox.
Calling upon Aethon, Lumian got him to target the basilisks’ eyes making it hiss in pain before Lumian climbed the basilisk body reaching its neck to slash at leading it to bleed everywhere and bleed out from its severe wounds.
Panting, once it was over, Lumian looked over towards where the fox was last seen and activating his ability, he can see wisps of shadow starting to develop. Gritting his teeth in determination, he carefully approached the fox hoping it won’t attack him out of fright now that the basilisks are taken out. The fox collapsed onto the ground with its eyes losing focus. Kneeling down, Lumian placed his hand out towards the fox’s mouth "Hey I believe I can save you, but in order to do so you will need to die and become part of my shadow army, if you can understand me, place your snout onto my hand."
After saying that, Lumian waited for a few seconds in anxiety and anticipation then felt the cold touch of the fox’s snout on his fingers. "Thank you for trusting me." Grabbing his knife, he cut off the fox’s head then exclaimed "Transcend" out loud as the wisp coming from the fox developed a black shadow version of the fox with purple flaming script on the fox’s body with purple tipped tails and eyes.
"From now on your name is Mae." Stroking the fox’s fur which felt soft to the touch, he ordered it to return before he looked at the wisps coming from both basilisks and once again ordered them to "Transcend" creating large black shadow basilisks before commanding them to protect him by his side.
Looking at the aftermath of these events, Lumian continued his journey forward with a greater sense of ease knowing that other than the scouts to work as a distraction, he finally has dangerous capabilities to attack and protect him. After another few hours, dusk started to arrive leading Lumian to hunt for some larger animals such as deer to eat venison for dinner before heading to sleep using the basilisks as a line of defence as he sleeps to protect him if he undergoes some form of ambush.
