Once the conversation between Alan and Lumina finished, Alan got up from his seat and left but not before leaving a passing remark. "Tomorrow I will send one of my subordinates to notify Brenda that I will be paying for your stay at the inn henceforth and another to the guild master of the hunters guild that any classes you take will be paid for by me."
When he left Lumina's sight, she thought it best to head to the hunter’s guild to state the completed mission. After a quick travel of only twenty minutes, Lumina went to the reception desk and informed the receptionist of the completed mission while grabbing the fox corpses out of the bag to show.
After handing in the foxes and that they were confirmed, Lumina received a total of twenty-five large coppers which she promptly placed back in the bag before heading to the mission board again to see if there were any other suitable quests that she could take tomorrow. "Hey! Luminya!" Hearing that bubbly voice behind her, Lumina turned around to see Sheryl, Sharron and Dave standing there smiling and waving.
"Hey guys, what's up?"
"We've got a few quests that we want to do and seeing you here makes us want to see if you’re alright joining us for them." Dave interrupted before Sheryl could get overly bubbly.
"Oh? What kind of quests?" Lumina questioned with curiosity while thinking this could allow her to move up ranks faster.
"We have a foraging quest for a type of plant found in the western part of the forest of silence, however that plant is guarded by a magic beast that requires it to attract mates hence they can be rather fierce but there is also a mission to hunt them as well but require a team to take them down. So, you interested?"
After taking a moment to think, Lumina said that "I'm in and I assume that everyone is taking a quarter of the spoils. However, what type of plant is it and what magic beasts could they be?"
Sharron responded in her usual monotone "The plants are poisonous deadly nightshades that tend to have their own consciousness and are used in many types of antidotes and the magic beasts that are around them are normally salamanders, D rank beasts."
"Alright then, let’s go."
When the conversation was done, they headed towards the location in which both mission targets are while making some general small talk on the way to fill the silence and to learn more about each other. The forest was mesmerising yet deadly when they suddenly had to make a quick stop as they heard some small growls coming in front of them.
Peeking through the bushes, they laid their eyes upon four large, scaly monstrosities referred to as salamanders and two of the deadly nightshade plants. Whispering, Dave asked "What should we do? There are too many D rank beasts!"
After a moment of silence where no one was saying anything, Lumina made a well-timed proposition. "How about you Dave, pull a couple of their attention temporarily while I gather the other twos attention. Meanwhile, Sharron and Sheryl can provide you support and grab the nightshades." Once voicing this, there was a little back and forth but primarily everyone agreed to this.
Three... Two... One... NOW! Making a silent countdown, Lumina threw a dagger towards one of the salamanders while thrusting a knife towards another making them roar out in anger as she swiftly turned on her heel and ran in one direction of the forest. The two salamanders that were attacked were blinded in rage as they ran after her. Meanwhile, Dave hacked at the other two salamanders ensuring they were focused on him allowing his teammates to prepare a volley of attacks.
Meanwhile, when Lumina figured that she was far enough away from her friends, she summoned her shadows to ambush the unsuspecting attackers. The basilisks sunk their jaws into the legs of the salamanders while Mae summoned fire to bash into their faces, distracting them from Aethon who drilled into one of the salamander’s eye sockets and Lumina thrust with the knife into the others.
RRROOOAAARRR
The salamanders roared in pain before vibrating the ground causing a massive rupture to appear in the forests earth causing Lumina to sidestep many broken trees from crashing into her. This mini seismic wave felt similar to an earthquake which happened to break the shadows that were stuck to the ground.
Taking some time, Lumina used the spider shadows to crawl into the roaring mouths of these salamanders to create internal wounds and paralysis to stop the earth quaking attack. Eventually the ground stopped shaking as the salamanders keeled over allowing Lumina to slit their throats.
Once their death throes stopped, Lumina commanded them to Transcend gaining another two shadows to become part of her army. The shadows revealed blackened shiny scales with purple eyes burning in their sockets before Lumina commanded them to return to her shadows. Picking up their corpses and placing them into the bag she went back to her teammates location to see them with another two corpses and the nightshades gone. They had sweaty panting forms as Dave sat with his back to one of the salamanders with Sheryl and Sharron sitting on a tree trunk.
"Is it over?" Lumina called out to them while waving to show that she was alright. Once they caught their breath, they came to the conclusion that everything was done and stored the last two salamanders away before heading back to the hunter’s guild. By time they returned it was nearing dusk, so they handed in their spoils and completed the mission stamp on record therefore, Lumina only needs to complete seven more missions before she becomes a D Rank hunter.
After that, before they split up, they handed Lumina her portion of the spoils which summed up to a total of twenty large coppers. Heading back to the inn, Lumina had a quick meal before turning in to sleep ready for the new day.
