Waking up to a new dawn, Lumina gets out of bed and heads down to the inn's dining room but before getting there, she sees the receptionist Brenda talking to what looked to be a young knight wearing thin plate armour handing over a bag that jingled with coin. Remembering what Alan said yesterday, Lumina waltzed up to them and asked, "Is this from Alan?"
Looking back towards her, Brenda shot a raised eyebrow with a small smirk while the young knight stood there with a shocked expression before finally being snapped out of it by Brenda poking into his side. "Er, yes miss! This is Alans payment for your entire months stay at this inn and told you that he doesn't need paying back."
The young knight stammered a quick reply before giving Lumina a salute and leaving. "Well, it seems that you are popular dear getting the knight commander to pay for your expenses, so what's the story behind that? Hm?" Brenda questioned in a sort of inquisitive tune.
"It could be that he sees some form of potential in me and wants me to consider working for him maybe?" Lumina replied to Brenda's inquisitiveness by side-tracking from what really happened with a plausible lie. After having a quick breakfast and wash, Lumina headed to the hunter’s guild to learn from some of the basic classes.
However, as soon as she entered, one of the receptionists spotted her before calling her over for a quick word. "Hey, Lumina over here can we speak for a moment?"
"Huh? Sure."
When Lumina headed into the direction of the receptionist, she made the gesture to follow her up some nearby stairs before telling her what's up. "The guild master wishes to speak to you in private." What does the guild master want with me? Questioning herself in confusion as to why the guild master wanted to see her, she didn't realise that they already reached the door until she heard a muffled voice coming from the door. "Come in."
Opening the doors and entering before closing them, Lumina saw a desk stacked with papers and ink with records and books piled up on a bookshelf to one side with two long couches set up in the middle of the room with a small coffee table between them. After noticing the furniture and decorations of the room she then noticed a tall imposing man standing by the window looking out. When he turned around, his windbreaker swished along with him revealing a short sword attached to a brown leather belt. Finally facing him, Lumina saw that he had long blond hair elf ears and green eyes, but his features reminded her of another elf she met before only more masculine.
"Could you be related to Sylvia?" Blurting out this intrusive thought Lumina put her hands towards her mouth before dropping them "Sorry, it’s just you two look similar."
Sitting down with elegance, the man motioned her to take a seat opposite him before speaking. "Yes, she is my younger sister, and she mentioned you in passing but rather it is what Alan had to say that... Intrigued me more. He says that you have some level of promise and that he will pay for all of your classes that you take here."
He grabbed a jug of water and swallowed it down before continuing. "If he says that you have promise then I cannot take you lightly because all of those that he said has potential ended up becoming famous figures in the future, however! I will not show any favouritism and expect you to complete the missions and tests like all the other hunters here understand me?"
"Understood sir." Stiffening up, Lumina answered in respect towards him.
"Good, you may leave."
Getting up, Lumina left the room but not before stealthily leaving behind a spider to spy on any content that may affect her in the room. Once the doors closed behind her, Alan and the mysterious figure who calls Alan knight commander came into view, except the mysterious figure had their mask off revealing their face to be Sylvia. "So, what do you think of her?" Alan asked towards the guild master.
"Interesting, but only that, are you sure that she is the one? Because she didn't strike fear in me or at least have an aura of authority from her."
"Trust me, in the future you'll see that I was right."
"Big brother, we should remove the unnecessary eyes from the room before we continue the conversation." Sylvia said this before she threw a dagger at the spider shadow hiding in the corner of the room listening in.
Cutting back to Lumina, she furrowed her brows in consternation damn it they keep finding out, I need to figure out how to ensure that they go unnoticed. And Sylvia, she doesn’t actually work at the women’s clothing store but was using that as a cover to get closer to me! Feeling complicated to that revelation, she headed into the room which was for classes in monsters and magic beasts. Entering the room, there was a dusty and mouldy smell of books and paper filling the room.
Looking around she found books titled Differences between monsters and magic beasts, types of monsters and types of magic beasts. Deciding that they were good books to start with, Lumina picked them out and sat by the table and started to look through them.
People believe that magic beasts and monsters are the same, however, our research has found that this isn't the case, magic beasts are actually the forceful mutations and evolutions of normal animals and beasts to survive mana rich environments while monsters are existences that have no relation to animals or beasts thus have an entirely different origin that as of this moment is unknown. Another difference between magic beasts and monsters is that magic beasts have a condensed magic core that is used to 'breath in' atmospheric mana to be used which can be used for mages staffs.
Lumina continued her study into the differences between monsters and magic beasts and how to identify them before reading into different types of magic beasts thinking about how to increase a level of diversity in her army because currently the vast majority of them inflict either poison or venom. The only exceptions would be the two basilisks that can crush enemies with their body, Mae that summons fire and the salamanders which inflict earthquakes.
After reading through the evening, it started to become dusk, therefore Lumina left to the inn to sleep and prepare for the new morning.
