"Sit, we need to talk." As Scarlet said so, Arthur along with the two girls sat on the soft couch opposite her.
"So, what was all of that for? Why were you so hostile to toward me?" Arhtur asked with a calm gaze and collected composure as he looked indifferent now.
Scarlet didn’t say anything for few seconds as if contemplating what she was going to say.
Her gaze toward him was filled with many different emotions, from fear, intrigue, caution, and curiosity.
The man in front of her right now was an anomaly, something that defied nature.
"First, do you understand what you are?"
After that brief of silence, Scarlet said what was on her mind.
"If I knew, I would tell you myself without needing all of this."
And she didn’t see any lies in his words. He was just being honest with her.
Sigh.
"That`s really a problem." She sighed as she massaged the area between her eyes.
"Do you know something about me that I don`t?" And Arthur hoped it to be true as he really wanted to know who he really was.
After all, he didn’t like it when something was hidden from him for any kind of reason. It occupied his mind since he was young till now. Especially if that thing concerned or was related to him.
"Your whole existence is so wrong. Like, how can a vampire, a supposedly dead being, have a beating heart and fair complexion like humans? This is like the joke of the year!"
"Oh, she has gone crazy." Ava muttered in secret, but in front of a being with enhanced senses, it didn’t matter.
"You should shut up you unfilial daughter of mine, your madness knows no bounds!"
"That`s why I`m your daughter, right?" Ava tilted her head cutely which made veins bulge on her mother`s head threatening to burst, she really looked so angry.
"It seems I need to educate you again." A toothy smile spread across her face sending shivers down Ava`s spine which made her hug Arthur to feel safe from her crazy mother.
"Ahem, enough now Ava, she is your mother."
"Fine~" As Ava said so, she leaned against him before closing her eyes.
’Wow~’ Myne thought.
While Scarlet had incredulous expressions as they couldn’t believe that Ava was obedient.
’My daughter is obedient?’ Scarlet felt as if the person in front of her wasn`t her daughter but some kind of alien having her looks.
Nadia just looked expressionless and silent as she had seen this before.
"Anyway, as I said before, your existence is wrong, or to put it in another words, unnatural. Especially those eyes of yours, I can feel some kind of energy coming out of them in tiny amounts.
It’s not dangerous in any way as I can see. But if someone looked deeply into your eyes for long, they would be in a daze as if something pulling them."
Scarlet explained as could see the faint energy coming out of his eyes, but it stopped once he closed them or blinked for a moment.
But in the end, it’s not dangerous at all.
"Look, right now, you are not a human and from what I`m seeing, it hasn`t been long since you turned into a vampire, same with the little girl beside you."
"Aren`t you mad about the soul marriage?" then suddenly, Arthur asked the question that had been in his mind.
"It`s her choice, and I won`t stop her from making her own choices. I just invited you here to see what kind of man my foolish daughter had married."
"And the sudden hostility?"
"Well, it`s because of your unnatural existence. It didn’t set well and made me attack you on instinct."
Scarlet herself wasn’t sure, once she saw him she immediately felt threatened and attacked on pure instinct as a kind of defense mechanism.
However, when Arthur thought about this, he understood something else.
’Maybe it`s not me who made her feel threatened, but whatever it is inside me?’ He thought as he remembered the voice that talked to him when was beating John up that day.
That voice was driving to kill him on the spot after reducing him to a bloody mess that his regeneration slowed to heal him.
’Things are getting complicated with the way it is.’ As he said to himself, he looked at Ava who was leaning on his shoulder with closed eyes as if the world didn’t matter to her.
It made him smile softly at her antics before at his sister who beside him looking nervous.
He patted her head making her look up at him and see only gentleness in his eyes which made her relax and calm down.
"I`m here, you don`t need to be nervous." His voice was like a soothing drug to her making him visibly calm and lean against him.
"Brother, I just don`t understand anything of what is happening around us. The vampire thing and supernatural, till this point it makes me feel afraid." She finally said what was in her heart from the beginning. From the moment she turned into a vampire and knew who she had become, Ella never felt calm.
Despite saying that she was feeling better, but the nervousness and fear inside her was eating her away. Many times, she wanted to tell her brother how she felt, but she stopped herself considering that he was busy with his work and own problems.
"Silly girl, no matter what happens, I will always be there for you and listen to whatever you have even if it`s small."
This made Ella smile and hug him with a happy smile on her face as she felt so relieved and relaxed when she heard these words, she really needed them.
And Scarlet who watched this exchange raised an eyebrow.
’So, they are siblings. I thought they were a normal couple like my daughter.’ As she thought so, she looked at the link that was connecting Arthur and Ella on a deeper level. It was the same as him and Ava.
She could see it because her senses were far stronger than Ava.
But then as she thought so, a realization came to her making her widen her eyes.
"Ava, are you aware of the relationship between those two?"
Hearing her name being mentioned, Ava opened her pink eyes and looked at her mother before smiling.
"Yeah, I know, they are brother and sister, right?"
Arthur and Ella nodded.
’Of course, she wouldn’t silly me.’ She thought before looking at Arthur.
She wanted to give a hint to Arthur about the connection between his sister and him, but she decided to shut up.
’Well, let life take its course and see what will happen by then.’
"Anyway, now that I got to see you, I`m satisfied. You can stay here or do whatever you want. I`m going." As she said so, she stood up preparing to leave.
"Eh? You are going already? I thought you will stay a little longer." Ava said as she looked at her mother.
"I was in the middle of dealing with some problems in our territory, but after knowing what you had done, I had to come see for myself. Now after seeing it, I can go."
After saying that, Scarlet left the room immediately without waiting for her daughter to say anything along with Myne.
Only Nadia remained.
"Aren`t you going too?" Ava said.
"My lady asked me to stay to take care of you and inform her if anything happened."
Ava stood in silence before she huffed and sat back down beside Arthur.
