Looking at the figure that crouching beside his fallen sister, Arthur looked confused and wondered what she was doing here.
"Ava?" He muttered and her sensitive ears captured his voice clearly.
Looking back, she saw a pair of eyes that she always felt lost in them staring back at her indifferently making her shudder and swore that she saw the shadow of something ominous behind him.
Immediately, she sprang up to her feet standing straight like a disciplined soldier.
"B-Boss, how are you today?" Her voice was awkward with sweat appearing on her forehead.
But Arthur didn’t respond and just looked at her with that expressionless gaze of his.
Just seeing Ava, his own secretary, here in his house beside his own sister’s fallen body amidst that wrecked room sparked a hint of suspicion inside him. After all, he would never forgive or let go anyone that held ill intentions toward his family.
Many different scenarios ran inside his head about why Ava had appeared here and all of them led to one truth that he didn’t want to believe, that she was one of them, another vampire like that sick bastard that hurt his sister.
Speaking of her, Arthur immediately looked down at Ella to see her pale complexion, he crouched on his knees beside her and touched her forehead to feel coldness running through her skin, and focusing deeply, he could see how her own heart beat was slowing down at an alarming rate that he frowned and gritted his teeth as rage welled up inside his heart.
He held her hand on his own very carefully as if holding something so precious, which it was.
"Ella..." His voice though calm and deep carried a hint of sadness and sorrow. He didn’t want to lose the last one of his family, his parents were enough.
Then, he suddenly felt a soft delicate hand rest on his shoulder followed by the comforting voice of Ava.
"It’s not the end yet, we still can save her."
Hearing this, his ears perked up and looked at her.
"What do you mean?" His voice carried that edge that he was still suspicious of her, but she didn’t mind as anybody would be the same in this kind of situation.
"She was injected by the blood of a noble vampire. To humans it’s a venom." Ava said with a serious expression.
She let him digest her words before she continued. And he wasn’t in the mood to inquire about how did she know about this or who she was in the first place, his sister was his priority.
"Whoever he was, he tried to turn your sister into a vampire, likely a slave. And although the process is quite painful at the beginning, it’s smooth and won’t carry any complications afterward." As she said so, she looked at Ella who her breathing was turning shallow and her heartbeat was getting slower and faint.
"If there is no complications, then what is happening to her?" Arthur’s bright mind made him deduce that Ella’s condition wasn’t normal and there was something wrong.
"Actually, once the blood of the said noble vampire is injected into the body of a human, the process of transformation starts, as it spreads through the bloodstream, the intent comes to tie the DNA of the noble vampire to the human making it submit to the superior one which in this case is the noble vampire.
But if the process is interrupted in the middle, the human has very low chance of survival and in most cases he/she dies as the blood of the noble vampire is like a very toxic venom to the humans."
Ava said in one breath making Arthur take a deep breath through his nose before releasing it while tightening his hold on Ella’s hand.
He was in a dilemma of what he had to do to save her.
"Then what do you suggest to save her?"
"Simple, just let another vampire continue the process—"
"Absolutely not, that’s not gonna happen. I’m not letting my sister be a slave to anyone." Arthur cut her immediately without much thought.
He wasn’t going to let his sister be controlled by someone forever. There must be something else other than that to save her.
"Then there is no other way to save her. This is the only one. And to be aware, there is nothing like an antidote to cure her as the vampire blood acts like a venom but it’s not a venom itself."
"Are you serious?" This time his voice looked really angry and slightly pissed. And as he looked at her, his eyes glowed intensely making her flinch and shudder in her place making Ava gulp her saliva.
’He is so intense and terrifying! But still hot~’
Yup, she was beyond saving.
"Ahem, I swear it’s the only way, I’m not lying to you. But, we could use the same method differently."
"Speak." His voice turned authoritative making her straighten in her place, but her lust in her eyes betrayed her making Arthur rise a brow before shaking his head slightly and focused on the matter at hand.
"Well, it is for you to turn into a vampire yourself and continue the process."
"You sure?" He looked sceptical as he heard that.
"Hundred percent sure!" She nodded and Arthur didn’t find any lie while looking at her eyes.
Sigh.
Arthur sighed as he rubbed his head as he felt complicated. If he had time, he would have thought of a way to verify Ava’s words, it seemed time was running out of him as every second and minute counted toward his sister’s end.
Then after a brief silence.
"What do I have to do?" He muttered calmly making Ava’s eyes gleam for a second.
"Simple, I will inject my venom into you and turn you into one, and don’t worry I will be careful not to turn you into a slave by mistake~" She said while licking her lips seductively.
"You better be serious, my sister is at the death’s doorstep." He looked at her with a frown making her sweat a little.
"I will, I will."
’But I might accidentally make you my spouse~ Hehe~’
Arthur then showed her his neck making her gulp.
"Here."
Ava didn’t say a word as she was staring intensely at his bare neck that looked so appetizing.
As she got closer to his neck and smelled it, a masculine scent hit her hard making her struggle to hold herself back before parting her luscious lips and a pair of sharp fangs were revealed then she sank them into his neck.
Before she injected the venom, aka her blood that contained her DNA, she decided to drink a little bit of his blood.
Gulp!
Once the delicious blood hit her taste buds and she gulped it down, her eyes glowed intensely while her pupils turned to slits as she felt intoxicated that she wanted to drink more.
His blood was just irresistible like a high quality drug.
It was so fragrant and tasty.
On the other hand, Arthur didn’t react much to the pain of being stabbed by something so sharp in his neck, but he felt there was something wrong as if something was sucking him dry.
"Ava, what are you doing?!" Arthur said with a very cold voice that made her flinch snap out of her state immediately.
’What had just happened?! I was just about to inject my venom into him but then tried to drink a little bit.’ She thought and as if realization hit her, she widened her eyes widely.
’His blood is so dangerous! It’s like a damn drug!’ She could feel how tranced she was once she tasted it, it made her crave more.
’Let’s be careful, now is not the time for that.’
This time, she actually injected her venom into his bloodstream.
Then immediately, changes began to happen. Her venom moved through his blood like a tide invading him throughly before Ava put her intent into it willing his DNA to be tied to her not as a slave but as an equal, a spouse.
As long as the intent was there, everything was possible.
But something strange suddenly happened.
’What?! I got rejected?!!! How?!! That’s impossible!!’ Ava screamed internally as she could feel his DNA rejecting her completely as if looking down on it.
Normally speaking, something like this wouldn’t happen. But in some special cases that are very rare and even not existent that the DNA of the host is superior than the one of the vampire.
And let’s not talk that Ava’s DNA is far superior than that of normal vampires for she is a noble vampire too like John.
’What should I do?’ Ava thought before retracting her fangs back then licked the blood that came from the two holes like dots on Arthur’s neck.
Right afterwards, Arthur felt his body changing before suddenly, the world darkened around him as he fell unconscious in Ava’s embrace.
