The air in the elevator was thin, and Song Ruannin was kissed until her head spun.

When she came to her senses, she bit down hard on the person in front of her and struggled free with all her might.

Zhai Yu, panting heavily with a fierce expression, said, “Song Ruannin, I told you, if you show up in front of me again, just you wait.”Full novel: Make Her Regret — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Before Song Ruannin could speak, the elevator doors opened, and a crowd of office workers poured in.

She took advantage of the chaos to leave, while Zhai Yu remained motionless until the elevator doors slowly closed.

He let out a long sigh, clenched his fist, and stared in the direction Ruan Ning had gone.

Ruan Ning hurried back to her apartment, her heart pounding wildly.

She clutched her chest: He’s insane, he must be insane.

He came today just to humiliate me.

For the next few days, Song Ruannin was on edge, terrified of running into Zhai Yu at work again.

Fortunately, Zhai Yu only came to Yunmeng once.

That last time was probably just a coincidence.

“Ruan Ning, what do you want for lunch? How about the clay pot we had last time?” Zhou Ying asked Song Ruannin.

Ruan Ning snapped out of her thoughts and nodded, “Sure.”

The two packed up their things and headed downstairs for lunch.

Just as they were about to leave, two women walked in arm-in-arm at the entrance.

One was Li Qimeng, Yunmeng’s top influencer, and the other was Bai Yuwei.

Bai Yuwei spotted Song Ruannin at once.

“Song Ruannin?!”

Song Ruannin froze, then grabbed Zhou Ying’s hand and tried to leave.

Bai Yuwei rushed up to her, “What are you doing here? Did you know Brother Yu invested here and came specifically to seduce him?”

Bai Yuwei was decked out in designer brands from head to toe, with a pigeon-egg-sized ring on her finger.

After Zhai Yu returned to the Zhai family, everyone in Yan City’s upper circles knew he had a stepsister.

The Bai family had raised Zhai Yu for 12 years.

Relying on her connection to the Zhai family, Bai Yuwei had entered high society and, over the years, had become a somewhat well-known influencer online.

Ruan Ning had heard all about this.

Song Ruannin gave her a cool glance, “I’m not that bored.”

Bai Yuwei still wouldn’t let her go, gripping her hand tightly.

“You shameless woman, I bet you deliberately came here to interview just to create opportunities to be with Brother Yu.”

Back in college, Song Ruannin had seduced Brother Yu in exactly the same way.

That bitch!

Song Ruannin pulled her hand free, not bothering to explain a single word, “Think whatever you want.”

During their university days, Bai Yuwei had always targeted her.

It was true before she started dating Zhai Yu, and even more so afterward.

Song Ruannin knew that the rumors circulating in college about her having many relationships had been spread by Bai Yuwei.

Bai Yuwei had even photoshopped pictures of her going to hotels with men and posted them online.

Later, she accidentally captured a video of Bai Yuwei cheating on an exam.

She took the video directly to Bai Yuwei and demanded she delete the posts online.

She only wanted to use that video to clear her name; she never intended to threaten Zhai Yu with it.

If Zhai Yu hadn’t told her that day not to bully Bai Yuwei, she wouldn’t have angrily blurted out, “If you don’t date me, I’ll expose your sister.”

Looking at Bai Yuwei’s face twisted with rage, Ruan Ning only felt annoyed.

“If you like your brother so much, go hang around him more. Don’t make a scene here.”

Bai Yuwei was furious, “You!”

“What’s going on?” Shen Yi, hearing the commotion from his office, came out.

Bai Yuwei said arrogantly, “You’re her boss, right? Your company’s employees don’t respect clients.”

Shen Yi looked at Song Ruannin and the woman with a stiff face from too much hyaluronic acid injections, frowning slightly.

“Miss, our company doesn’t seem to have a client like you.”

“I’m Zhai Yu’s sister!” Bai Yuwei raised her voice.

“Then go find your brother.”

“You!” Bai Yuwei pointed at Shen Yi, then at Song Ruannin.

Then she suddenly chuckled twice, “I knew it, you two are involved. It started a long time ago, didn’t it?”

“Song Ruannin, you’ve been messing around since college, haven’t you? Otherwise, how could you have such a big daughter?”

“Song Ruannin, you betrayed Zhai Yu.”

“You bitch.”

“You shameless bitch.”

Her words were extremely filthy, and people in the company gathered around.

Shen Yi lowered his voice, “Miss Bai, please leave. You’re not welcome here.”

Bai Yuwei, enraged, shouted, “You men are all fooled by her face. Who knows how many men she’s been with all these years? She probably even has some dirty disease. Aren’t you afraid of catching it?”

She looked at Song Ruannin, who remained calm, watching her tantrum indifferently.

Bai Yuwei strode over in her high heels.

Slap!

Ruan Ning’s face was slapped to the side, scratched by the ring on Bai Yuwei’s hand.

She tried to hit again, but Song Ruannin grabbed her wrist.

She said to Zhou Ying, “Did you get it?”

Zhou Ying, holding her phone, had somehow moved to the side.

She nodded, “Got it, very clearly.”

Song Ruannin’s expression was calm, but her voice carried authority, “Then call the police. Everyone here is a witness.”

“You! Don’t you dare call the police!” Bai Yuwei screamed like a madwoman.

Song Ruannin turned to Bai Yuwei and said, “In Yancheng, assault is illegal, and spreading rumors is illegal too. You can expect a lawsuit. I’ll also post the video online, just like you did to me back then.”

Bai Yuwei panicked instantly.

She had worked so hard to become famous, to rise above others.

Her voice trembled uncontrollably, “You… you wouldn’t dare. If you post it online, you won’t get away with it either. You… you’re the daughter of a corrupt official.”

Song Ruannin sneered, “What wouldn’t I dare?”

She had nothing left to lose, so she dared everything.

“If you want to settle privately, that’s fine too. My compensation for emotional distress plus medical expenses total one million yuan. Pay up, and I’ll let it go and delete the video.” She stared at Bai Yuwei.

Bai Yuwei looked at Song Ruannin, and within seconds, her expression suddenly changed.

A man in a custom-made thick black suit pushed open the door and entered.

Bai Yuwei immediately ran to the man, clutching Zhai Yu’s arm, “Brother Yu.”

Zhai Yu glanced at her and calmly pulled his hand away.

Song Ruannin looked at Zhai Yu.

When did he arrive?

Zhai Yu strode toward her, looking down at the woman, his gaze lingering on her swollen cheek.

The man clicked his tongue softly.

Suddenly, he grabbed Song Ruannin’s hand and pulled her to the farthest office in the company.

Closing the door, the two were isolated inside.

Song Ruannin rubbed her sore wrist, “What are you doing?!”

Zhai Yu leaned against the desk, his narrow eyes emitting a cold light.

His face, meticulously crafted as if by Nuwa, was now entirely indifferent.

His thin lips parted slightly, “Weren’t you asking for compensation and emotional distress fees? It’s inconvenient outside. Let’s talk privately.”

Song Ruannin looked at Zhai Yu’s stern face.

So he was here to back up his sister.

“One million, and I’ll pretend this never happened,” she said coldly, leaving no room for negotiation.

Zhai Yu scoffed, his tone laced with mockery. “Song Ruannin, after all these years apart, you’re still just as good at making threats.”
