At the old apartment building in Beika Town.

Sora lay on his bed with his eyes closed, quietly listening to music on his phone.

The phone suddenly vibrated.Full novel: Making Money in the Multiverse — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Opening his eyes, he found that the earlier discomfort had mostly faded.

He looked at the screen.

Eriri had sent him a message.

[Eriri: You met my mom today?] [Sora: Yeah.] [Sora: Your mother is really beautiful.] [Eriri: You jerk!] [Eriri: I’m warning you!] [Eriri: Don’t you dare get any ideas about my mom!] [Sora: ???] [Sora: You doujin artists really have vivid imaginations.] [Sora: I’m just an ordinary high school student.

What kind of relationship could I possibly have with a young, wealthy, beautiful married woman?] — Lying on her bed, Eriri stared at the messages.

Several utterly inappropriate images involuntarily surfaced in her mind.

She hurriedly shook her head and forced the thoughts away.

Then she tried changing the subject.

[Eriri: You’re actually working part-time at a fish market?

Are you really that short on money?] [Sora: Not as short as you’re imagining.] [Eriri: Then why are you going around killing fish?] [Sora: Killing fish is just my hobby.] [Eriri: ?] [Eriri: Who makes killing fish their hobby?!] [Eriri: You fish-murdering maniac!] — A fish-murdering maniac?

Looking at the screen, Sora couldn’t help but laugh.

He’d only killed a few fish.

Someone like Takagi, who had been killing fish for decades, deserved that title.

If possible, he’d like to try killing chickens, ducks, and cattle too.

According to the pattern he’d observed—that larger and heavier targets dropped more coins—a cow weighing several hundred kilograms should easily drop multiple silver coins.

Unfortunately, Toyogasaki wasn’t Totsuki Academy.

He had no way of meeting Ikumi Mito and therefore no opportunity to slaughter cattle.

Otherwise, he’d become a cattle-murdering maniac instead.

The title sounded awful, but it was still better than becoming a human-murdering maniac.

At that thought, Sora’s gaze sharpened.

Murder.

If killing snakes and fish generated coins, then killing people should probably generate them too.

Naturally, Sora wasn’t the type of person who would pursue power by any means necessary.

But where was he?

Beika Town.

A place with public safety even worse than Gotham City.

If he ever encountered an actual criminal, he wouldn’t mind delivering justice on behalf of heaven.

Of course, his current strength was still lacking.

The only weapon in his inventory was a baseball bat.

If he ran into someone armed with knives or firearms, his only option would be to flee.

Fortunately, he possessed Double Jump.

Most criminals probably couldn’t catch him.

Were there any people in Beika Town with extremely high crime values but extremely low combat abilities?

His phone vibrated again.

[Eriri: Hey!

Why did you suddenly stop talking?

What are you thinking about?] [Sora: Thinking about how to kill people.] [Eriri: !!!

I’M CALLING THE POLICE!] [Sora: Go ahead, Kashiwagi-sensei.

Filing a false police report is a crime, though.] [Eriri: You idiot!

There’s a limit to how far jokes can go!] [Sora: Fine, then.

I was actually thinking about how to become the god of a new world.] [Eriri: ?] Sora closed the LINE app and began searching for information he wanted.

Beika Library.

The reason he remembered the place so clearly was because of one of Detective Conan’s most famous cases: The Library Murder Case.

Many viewers considered it one of the most terrifying episodes in the entire series.

Even as a child, Sora had found it horrifying.

Especially the seemingly gentle librarian, Tsugawa Shuji, who murdered a staff member after discovering his drug trafficking operation and hid the body atop an elevator shaft.

He had even nearly killed Ayumi from the Detective Boys.

It didn’t take long for Sora to find the information he wanted.

“So Beika Library exists in this world too.

And the director is indeed Tsugawa Shuji.” Looking at the photo of the seemingly kind-faced man on the screen, Sora narrowed his eyes.

“There haven’t been any reports of missing staff members at the library yet, meaning the employee probably hasn’t been murdered.

But Tsugawa should already be involved in drug trafficking.

Of course, world fusion may have changed things.

Maybe this version of him never chose the path of crime.” After some thought, Sora attempted to use his talent skill: Death Declaration.

[You may declare the death of a target.

The declared target will die within three days from a random cause.

Cooldown: One month.] A strange sensation arose within him.

Through that sensation, Sora realized something.

The skill didn’t merely sentence someone to death.

It could also apply conditions.

That eliminated his concerns.

Looking at the screen, he quietly spoke: “Tsugawa Shuji, director of Beika Library.

If you have participated in drug trafficking or committed other crimes, then I hereby declare your death.” The moment he finished speaking, he felt something empty itself from within his chest.

Opening the system panel, he saw that Death Declaration now displayed: [Remaining Cooldown: 30 Days] So it had succeeded.

The ability felt less like a curse and more like a judgment.

Now all he had to do was wait three days and see the result.

The only question was whether a death caused by Death Declaration counted as a kill.

If it did, Tsugawa should drop coins when he died.

Sora lowered his head in thought.

Although Death Declaration had a lengthy cooldown, it truly was an ability that controlled life and death.

Compared to the Death Note, it came with almost no drawbacks.

He wasn’t as flashy as Light Yagami, either.

His actions were unlikely to attract attention.

Speaking of which…

Did this world contain Light Yagami and L?

Rather than searching their names directly, Sora searched for Light’s school: Daikoku Private Academy.

The results showed that the school did indeed exist and wasn’t very far from Toyogasaki.

Which meant both Light Yagami and L probably existed too.

And therefore, the Death Note probably existed as well.

“I wonder what grade Light is in right now.

If I remember correctly, he found the Death Note during his third year of high school…” Knowing the story, Sora could theoretically wait until Light was at school and simply steal the Death Note from wherever he hid it.

Would killing people with the Death Note count as kills?

That thing had no cooldown.

Its efficiency far surpassed a skill usable only once a month.

Then again, the Death Note was troublesome.

It came bundled with a Shinigami.

The thought of having some invisible supernatural creature constantly following him around made Sora frown.

He had far too many secrets already.

Forget it.

He didn’t need the Death Note.

Besides, humans weighed less than cattle.

If killing people yielded fewer coins than killing cows, there was no reason to take the risk.

“I’ll wait and see what happens to Tsugawa.” With that thought, Sora continued browsing the news on his phone.

When the clock reached ten o’clock, he prepared for bed.

Then he suddenly remembered something.

Kotonoha had sent him a good morning message earlier.

For someone as introverted as her, initiating a conversation was already a rare occurrence.

Opening LINE, Sora sent her a simple: “Good night.” After a brief hesitation, he sent the same message to Eriri.

A moment later, both replied.

[Kotonoha: Good night!] [Eriri: ???

You’re going to sleep this early?] Sora set his phone aside.

He couldn’t be bothered responding to Eriri the night owl.

He was someone who believed in sleeping early and waking early.
