Alright... WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!
It’s obviously a status tab, and it looks like I’m in some kind of isekai, but what’s with these stats?! Where is the stolen ability that the stories and animes promised me?!
First of all, it looks like I’m a bee... and I’m weak too... According to this, I’m a [Solitary Honeybee], yet I can create a colony? Does that even make sense?
Pausing to analyze the situation, I realized I was born in a cocoon well-hidden and tangled in dry leaves and clay. This either means a bee laid me here or something else brought me. But if I’m a bee, where are the other bees? Am I a species of bee that leaves its children alone? Either way, one thing was certain.
I was alone.
I am a human reincarnated as a bee, dropped alone into a forest with nothing but a status screen to guide me. What should I do? If I killed myself now, would I go back to my previous body? Do I still have a body to return to? As far as I know, it must have been burned, buried in a pile of garbage, and reduced to nothing.
Stopping to think... what do I even look like? I imagined a fluffy bee like those from my world, but when I inspect my body... I have 6 limbs—4 for arms and 2 for legs. I have a typical bee abdomen with a small stinger, and there’s some kind of fluff or mane wrapping around my neck. My body is yellow and black with shades of gray. One thing’s for sure: this is not my world. My world doesn’t have systems and bees like this!
As I look around for something I can use to see myself—a pond, a puddle, or a shiny piece of metal—anything would do! And bingo, a lake! Well, I think it’s a lake, since everything looks giant from my point of view. It might even just be a puddle. Now, how do I get there? There’s a considerable drop to the ground, and I don’t think I can slide up there. If I fall and break all my bee limbs, I’ll be an incapacitated bee, stuck on the ground for who knows how long...
Wait, I have wings! I just need to figure out how to use them!
...
In theory, it’s simple: flap your wings and fly! But it’s one of those things that’s easier said than done. My wings feel weird, like something I’m not used to. There’s this instinct inside me that tells me flying should be as easy as breathing, yet I can’t get off the ground! All I can do is vibrate my wings like an idiot without actually flying. So how is this supposed to work? Am I the human girl reincarnated as a dumb bee who can’t even fly?!
...
Okay, this isn’t going anywhere. I tried flapping my wings as fast as I could, and I almost did something. I managed to lift myself slightly off the ground, but then I gave up. I was too afraid of falling and getting hurt. Over and over, I kept giving up halfway!
...I know, it’s no use standing here. But there’s no use falling and getting hurt either! Ugh!
Some time passed, and I know it’s getting darker. The forest was already dark, and it seemed to be getting even darker. But more importantly... I finally, finally made it! I’m flying! Well, it’s not perfect, and I feel like a human who’s never flown before, gliding awkwardly through the air. My wings move with my will now, and it feels like after all that repetitive flight, I’m starting to get the hang of it—even though my fear of falling hasn’t disappeared.
[Warning]Skill: [Basic Flight] has been learned and can now be leveled up to level 10
OH??! So that’s it—[Skills] let you perform a task or action even if you’ve never practiced it before? More importantly, what about the reverse? Could I do things like singing or climbing without a skill for them? Or are [Skills] just the result of repetitive effort? Because, well, I tried flying for so long before gaining that skill. If I think about it... If all bees are born with the instinct to fly, does that mean they don’t need a [Skill] to fly? On the other hand, maybe a bee gains this ability as soon as they take flight.
That seems important... but not right now.
I fly above the leaf where I was born and slowly glide down to the ground. Phew—success, no scratches or broken limbs. As I walk toward the puddle of water, I get distracted for a second by the world around me. It’s clearly not Earth. There are plants of strange colors glowing all over the place, mushrooms in odd shapes growing on the ground and tree trunks, and grayish moss covering the floor. I even see fruits I’ve never seen before hanging from a tree.
I finally reach the puddle, and through the slightly dirty water, I can see an insect face. Mandibles on my face, two antennae protruding from my skull, and huge black eyes staring back at me.
I stood there for a while, staring at what looked like a monster. That monster was me. And now, what the hell am I supposed to do? Until recently, I was Hana, a human. Now, I’m this thing—a bee in a fantasy world. What should I do? How should I react? Should I scream, cry, or just accept this bee/monster life? Everything felt wrong, and I felt frozen, staring at my reflection.
