Hearing these words, a terrible suspicion suddenly cropped up in Du Na’s mind.

Could You Xinghai really have been invited by Wen Xiaoyue?

But how could that be possible? You Xinghai had treated Wen Xiaoyue terribly, stalking and harassing her every day from behind. (You Xinghai: No such thing.) Shouldn’t Wen Xiaoyue absolutely detest her?

For a moment, Du Na felt as though she had been given a red clown nose. She quickly shook her head, trying to struggle against the reality. “It’s all You Xinghai’s fault for loitering around here! She must have been waiting here on purpose to corner you. Xiaoyue, don’t let her fool you!”

Wen Xiaoyue shifted her gaze from You Xinghai back to Du Na. The latter discovered, to her panic and dismay, that the emotion in Xiaoyue’s eyes had changed from coldness to utter外 bewilderment.

“You Xinghai is my guest. There is no problem with her being here,” Wen Xiaoyue said slowly. “On the other hand, what are you doing here?”

Having said that, and completely ignoring Du Na’s pale face, she looked up and asked the waiter, “Are you just going to ignore other people making a huge racket right at the door of a private room?”

Targeted by such sharp words, the waiter broke into a cold sweat and quickly apologized with a smile. “We are terribly sorry. We apologize for interrupting your meal.”

Compared to her aggressive self, a dumbfounded Du Na had an attack power of negative one thousand and a defense power of negative one million. This time, the waiter was able to quickly escort her away. Their voices could still be heard from a distance.

“No, I will not leave! Why should I leave? If anyone should leave, it is You Xinghai!”

“We are truly very sorry. Next time you come, we will definitely reserve a private room for you in advance.”

“I am never coming to your unscrupulous restaurant again! Cancel my membership!”

“We are deeply sorry.”

You Xinghai: Are all the villains in this novel comedic relief?

First, splashing water on Wen Xiaoyue, and now, making a scene right outside Wen Xiaoyue’s private room.

With Du Na’s interruption, the conflicting emotions that had been lingering in You Xinghai’s heart finally quieted down.

She could not help but smack her own forehead.

How had she let herself get so derailed?

This was a nonsensical, melodramatic, Mary Sue dog-blood novel. Where would all these complex emotions even come from?

She could do whatever she wanted!

Wen Xiaoyue picked up her handbag from the sofa and had just started to say, “Let us go,” when You Xinghai suddenly turned her head.

As Wen Xiaoyue turned around, she felt the light in front of her dim.

By the time she realized what was happening, You Xinghai had already stepped incredibly close to her, so close that they could feel each other’s body heat.

You Xinghai was half a head taller than her, and her silhouette completely eclipsed her.

Wen Xiaoyue suddenly felt as if she were enveloped by dark clouds. With no retreat before a looming, torrential downpour, and unable to find a single roof or even a tree for shelter, she could only face the imminent panic alone in the barren wilderness.

This scenario was strikingly similar to when You Xinghai had held her in her very first dream.

Wen Xiaoyue’s breathing instantly turned ragged. Before she could speak, she heard You Xinghai say in a leisurely tone, “I had a wonderful time today. Having a meal with the eldest Miss Wen is the honor of my life.”

She was too close. The warm breath exhaled from her mouth even fell upon Wen Xiaoyue’s forehead, bringing a ticklish sensation.

“If there is another chance.”

You Xinghai lowered her head. She had originally been staring at the fluffy crown of Wen Xiaoyue’s head, but in the next second, the person before her looked up. Her black-pearl eyes shimmered with a rippling, intoxicating glow.

And You Xinghai’s own reflection was mirrored like a mountain range across that boundless lake.

In Xiaoyue’s eyes, she saw an infinitely large version of herself.

Yet, she was not satisfied with just that. She wanted to become even bigger, even broader, and completely occupy that entire expanse of water.

Startled by her own sudden thought, You Xinghai hastily took a step back and averted her gaze.

“Uh, if there is another chance, I will treat you to dinner next time.”

Too dangerous. This is seriously too dangerous.

She had intended to use her height advantage to intimidate Wen Xiaoyue, but she ended up being the first to admit defeat.

Wen Xiaoyue did not understand why she had suddenly pressed in only to back off just as abruptly. While she thought You Xinghai was being baffling, she secretly reminisced about the feeling of being enveloped by the other girl’s aura.

Once she processed what the other party had said, Wen Xiaoyue’s awareness snapped back to reality, bringing her tsundere nature right back with it.

“Heh, wanting to treat this young lady to dinner?” She tried her best to suppress her chaotic thoughts, putting on a haughty front. “Do you think it is that easy?”

“My time is extremely valuable. You should be deeply grateful that I can squeeze out some time to speak with you. To think you want to keep occupying my time, don’t you know that all of my schedules require an appointment?”

Seeing that the person before her had returned to her spoiled, wealthy young lady state, You Xinghai held back a laugh and replied, “Yes, yes, yes.”

She leaned forward slightly, looking at her with a devout, longing gaze. “I will line up properly and wait for my number. Please, you must absolutely consider my invitation. To receive your grace, Miss, I really am the luckiest kid in the whole wide world.”

Wen Xiaoyue: I get the feeling her tone is a bit sarcastic, but I cannot quite prove it.

Wen Xiaoyue gave a performative huff. “We will see depending on my schedule.” Then, with her head held high and bursting with confidence, she strutted away.

You Xinghai shook her head with a smile. Without even realizing it herself, her gaze as she watched the other girl’s retreating figure was filled entirely with a gentle, warm tenderness.
