Alex sighed deeply and dropped the tablet in his arms.
His car was travelling to the small apartment building they were parked in front of.
He sighed deeply again before coming out of the car.
He didn’t know why but he got an eerie feeling from the house since the first time he saw it.
He wondered how she could have lived in such a place for so long.
Alex started to slowly walk towards the building when suddenly he heard someone yell out at the top of their voice, and it was coming from Lynn’s part of the apartment.
He immediately walked towards her apartment but stopped right in his tracks when he got there and saw a scene unfolding right in front of him.
A deep frown immediately settled on his face, and his eyes became as cold as ice.
“Let go of me. I can explain everything!” Lynn said to the older woman who was holding her arm forcefully and wasn’t relenting, and Alex felt his blood immediately start to boil.
The look on Lynn’s face made his blood boil even more, and he felt like cutting off the hand that was holding onto her arm with so much force.
It angered him so much, and he had no idea why.
“What do you think you are doing?” He said in a chilling voice, gaining both women’s attention.
Mrs Adams’ attention immediately travelled from Lynn to the fine gentleman who was standing in front of her, and a shiver ran down her spine when she saw the way he was staring at her.
If looks could kill, she would be dead already.
From the way he was dressed, she could tell he was not from around there.
What was he doing here, of all places?
His stance alone was enough to leave her unsettled
“Wh…who… do you…think you are Mind your business, ” She stuttered, but Alex scoffed, a slight, deadly smile appearing on his face.
“Why aren’t you listening to her? Let go of her hand!” Alex said in a low voice and started to walk towards them.
Mrs Adams immediately released Lynn’s hand and took a step back, why was he meddling?
Alex took Lynn’s hand and drew her to his side, his eyes still on Mrs Adams who had become intimidated by him.
“Who is she?” Alex asked Lynn, who was still a bit shaken up by everything that was happening…
“She…she is my landlady,” Lynn answered in a low voice, her heart thumping fast in her chest.
“She wouldn’t let me in and didn’t let me explain to her that I was here to take my things,” Lynn added, surprised to see Mrs Adams so calm.
She glanced at Alex, and he glanced at her.
Also, their eyes met for a split second before he turned to look back at Mrs Adams.
“I’m sure you know this is against the law, let her take what she wants to take, and we will be on our way, or I could make things messier if you want”, Alex said, an underlying threat behind his words, Mrs Adams knowing for a fact that he wasn’t bluffing.
She was aware now that he wasn’t just a passerby.
He knew Lynn, but where did Lynn meet such a handsome and well-refined young man who was backing up like this?
She was curious to know.
“I wouldn’t have reacted this way if I knew she came to take her things. I just felt wronged because she hadn’t been paying her went. I don’t run a charity organisation here I need my money too.” Mrs Adams walked towards them, and Lynn immediately moved a bit behind Alex, still holding hands with him. “I’m not trying to do anything! I’m only trying to hand you the key, I changed the locks, ” She said and stretched out her hand towards Lynn, but Alex was the one who took the key from her, the deep frown was still on his face, and she swallowed once again.
“You can drop it there when you are done”, Mrs Adams took one last glance at both of them before finally walking away, still curious about who the young man was and how he was affiliated with Lynn.

Lynn finally let out a breath of relief when Mrs Adams was gone, she sighed deeply and said to Alex, “Thank you.” She wasn’t expecting him to show up like that but was glad he did for once someone stood up for her, and it felt, great
“I can’t believe her,” Alex muttered, he just couldn’t stand people like Mrs Adams to get so much on his nerves.
He was about to hand the key to Lynn when they both noticed they were still holding hands.
Alex immediately let go of her hand, and Lynn’s cheeks flushed.
She cleared her throat and turned away from him.
“Here is the key,” Alex said to her, and she took the key from his hand without turning to look at him.
She hurriedly walked to the door and unlocked it scurrying away into her house…
A slight smile appeared on his face, but immediately, he became self-aware, and the smile disappeared as soon as it came.
He cleared his throat and slowly walked towards a small space by the side of her apartment to stand there so he could wait for her.
As he stood there waiting, a thought popped into his mind and he took out his phone from his jacket.
Alex sent a message, and about a minute later, his phone rang.
He answered the call and looked behind him to make sure Lynn was still inside before he said anything.
“That is the address. Make sure you do everything discreetly. I want this taken care of as soon as possible.” He said in a low voice and ended the call.
