As soon as Lynn stepped into her apartment, that overwhelming feeling of the misery she had to go through came back to her.

Her light brown eyes scanned the small place till it landed on her suitcase that was stuffed at the far end of her room.

As she walked to where the suitcase was.

Her arms, which Mrs Adams had grabbed forcefully, were already starting to hurt.

She was about to open the suitcase but decided not to pick a few of her things, like documents that were important to her and placed them in a tote bag.

Alex was still standing outside the house, waiting for her when she came out with the suitcase behind her.

He squinted his eyes a little when it landed on the suitcase.

“You don’t need to bother with your clothes anymore. You will need new clothes. So the suitcase is unnecessary. I will have someone take care of everything here, ” He said, his tone calm and smooth, unlike how he had spoken to Mrs. Adams just a few minutes before.

His frown was no longer deep, but he still had a slight frown on his face.

“I think I should take this with me. I can’t just leave it behind,” Lynn said in a low voice, and Alex didn’t try to argue with her any longer.

he simply turned and walked away.

Lynn was about to follow him when he stopped in his tracks.

he sighed deeply and turned to look at her, causing her to stare at him in confusion.

Alex walked back to where she was standing and took the suitcase from her hand, taking her by surprise.

“Wait, you don’t have to”

She started but couldn’t finish her words before he had walked away already.

“He is hard to understand,” Lynn muttered as she followed after him.

“Thank you,” She said to him when they were both seated in the car and ready to go, but Alex didn’t respond.he simply just picked up his tablet and continued to act busy.

Lynn returned to staring out the window as Nathan started to car and drove away.

Her heart started to race, and her house slowly disappeared from her view.

“We have to make things official between us. So we are going to need a ring and some other things. I am only accompanying you so no mistakes will be made you just have to follow along and don’t answer any questions unless it is necessary, ” Alex said to Lynn when they arrived at a jewellery shop.

she could see the sign from where the car was parked.

She nodded, and they both came out of the car.

Lynn walked behind Alex and fiddled with her fingers as people passed by them.

what if someone recognised Alex!

he was in the newspaper.

it would only complicate things if her face got out.

Lynn was almost completely lost in thoughts when Alex stopped in his tracks, and she bumped right into his back.

“What are you doing?” Alex said in a low voice and turned to look at her.

his hand in his pocket, his gaze piercing into her.

“I’m sorry!” She quickly apologised, causing Alex to sigh.

“Why are you walking behind me,.you should be by my side and not at my back. We need to appear like a couple or have you forgotten why we are here Lynn? ”

“I’m sorry,” Lynn apologised once again and walked over to his side.

She kept telling herself internally to calm down.

she didn’t want to ruin everything and blow their cover before it even started.

A man was standing by the door when they walked in and a pleasant smile immediately appeared on his face.

“Welcome sir” The pleasant-looking man greeted and Alex nodded at him in acknowledgement.

“Mr willow is waiting for you,” The man said and started to lead them towards the back of the shop.

Lynn couldn’t help but stare in awe as they walked past a glass Jewelry showcase, which contained different types of beautiful rings, from diamonds to rubies to emeralds.

it was simply breathtaking.

The pleasant-looking man led them to an office before he left “Alex!” An older man, who looked to be in his late seventies was said when they walked In.

he looked purely happy and excited to see them and for the first time Lynn was surprised to see Alex smiling at the man.

he looked like a completely different person at that moment.

“Mr willow,” Alex said and shook the old man’s hand.

The man patted his back and then his eyes landed on Lynn who was standing beside Alex and watching everything unfold.

so he was Mr willow she thought.

They seemed pretty close too.

They couldn’t be friends maybe family friends?

“Is she the one?” Mr Willow asked, his eyes still on Lynn and Alex nodded in response.

“Nice to meet you dear,” Mr willow said and stretched his Hand out for a handshake which Lynn nervously took.

“Please have a seat, what would you like tea or coffee?” He said and Lynn shook her head.

“I’m fine thank you” Lynn replied and he pouted playfully at her.

“I’m so glad I have the honours of making an engagement and wedding ring for you” Mr Willow started after he took a seat and Lynn smiled nervously at him.

“What type of ring do you want, I have a whole catalogue of designs here, you can choose from here or just describe what you want to me. I was expecting Alex to come alone since it is an engagement ring but I’m glad I can meet you” Mr willow said and Lynn couldn’t help but smile because of how nice he was to her even though they had just met.
