“I like intelligent women.”
“So, during these next fifteen days, don’t do anything to make me unhappy.”
“You understand…
don’t you?”
Turning around, Lucian looked at Mo Guilan, whose hand was still frozen awkwardly in mid-air.
Hearing his words, she obediently lowered her arm.
Her head dipped slightly, and a faint blush spread across her cheeks.
Hmph!
Who wants you to like me?
“Now go downstairs.”
“You have five minutes to bring all your luggage up here.”
“For the next half month, you’ll be staying in this room.”
“And one more thing.”
“Don’t tell anyone what happened aboard this ship.”
“You may go.”
With that, Lucian walked outside.
Mo Guilan stood there, biting her lower lip.
Several emotions flashed across her face before she finally let out a helpless sigh and headed downstairs.
When she returned carrying her luggage, she discovered that Lucian had somehow found another bed and moved it into the control room.
A table had also been placed nearby.
It was covered with food, presumably supplies that had belonged to the ship’s crew.
“Leave your luggage there.”
“You don’t have to be nervous.”
“As long as you don’t do anything excessive…”
“I won’t hurt you.”
Lucian smiled reassuringly.
Mo Guilan quietly set her luggage aside before cautiously sitting on the edge of the bed.
After hesitating for a moment, she finally asked,
“Why did those hijackers have to die?”
“You could have tied them up and handed them over to the police once we reached shore.”
“It was simpler to kill them.”
“And guarding several prisoners would have been troublesome.”
His answer left Mo Guilan speechless.
She couldn’t find a single argument to refute such straightforward logic.
The conversation died almost as soon as it had begun.
Some time later…
Mo Guilan sat quietly on the bed.
She would steal a glance at Lucian…
Lower her head…
Then look again…
Only to lower it once more.
She repeated the cycle over and over.
Although Lucian never turned toward her, he could clearly sense what she was doing.
“Does Huang Feihong call you Thirteenth Aunt?”
he suddenly asked.
Mo Guilan looked up in surprise.
“How do you know that?”
“It’s nothing.”
“I was just curious.”
Lucian silently confirmed his suspicion.
No wonder she had looked so familiar.
Before entering the Assassin’s Creed world, there had been an actress whose appearance strongly resembled the woman before him.
“Get some rest.”
“It’s getting late.”
He removed the hood from his head before lying down on the bed beside hers.
For the first time…
Mo Guilan finally saw his face clearly.
His black hair fell to around his shoulders.
His eyes were the deep black unique to Asians, long and slightly narrow.
A faint scar stretched from beneath one eye down toward the corner of his lips.
He had a high, well-defined nose…
And thin, strikingly attractive lips.
He was an incredibly handsome man.
Far more handsome than Feihong.
But she didn’t have time to admire his appearance.
Seeing him lie down on the neighbouring bed, she hurriedly stood up.
“Y-You’re…”
“You’re sleeping here too?”
“Of course.”
“Otherwise, are you planning to steer the ship?”
He answered matter-of-factly before adding calmly,
“Don’t worry.”
“Although it’s been several hundred years since I last touched a woman…”
“I’m not the kind of man who forces himself on one.”
“Ah…”
Mo Guilan covered her mouth.
Her cheeks flushed crimson once again.
At the same time, anger welled up inside her.
She almost leapt to her feet to argue—
Only to remember just how terrifying the man before her was.
Grinding her teeth, she could only glare silently at him while cursing him in her heart.
“If you keep insulting me in your mind…”
“I’ll throw you into the sea to feed the sharks.”
Lucian’s voice suddenly rang out.
His eyes never even opened.
“W-What?!”
“You can hear that too?”
Mo Guilan stared at him as though she’d seen a ghost.
“Nothing special.”
“It’s just a basic skill.”
“Go to sleep.”
“Tomorrow morning I’ll teach you how to operate the ship.”
“After that, it’ll be your responsibility.”
His tone remained calm.
Mo Guilan opened her mouth, wanting to protest.
Instead, she muttered under her breath,
“All you ever say is ‘I’ll throw you to the sharks’…”
“Not romantic at all…”
Then she lay down and finally went to sleep.
The next morning…
Mo Guilan slowly opened her eyes.
The first thing she did was hurriedly check her clothes.
Finding everything perfectly intact, she sighed with relief.
Although Lucian had promised not to do anything to her…
She had remained on guard for most of the night.
Only sometime after midnight had exhaustion finally overcome her.
“When you’re done eating…”
“I’ll teach you how to operate this ship.”
“Once you’ve learned, you’ll be in charge of sailing it.”
Lucian said from the helm.
Hearing his voice, Mo Guilan looked toward him.
She nodded.
“…Understood.”
After climbing out of bed, she went to wash up before returning to eat breakfast.
By the time she had finished everything…
More than an hour had passed.
Walking over to the control console, she looked at Lucian, who had once again pulled his hood over his face.
“I’m ready.”
“Good.”
“Then pay attention.”
He pointed toward the rows of levers and controls.
“This lever controls the engine output—that is, the ship’s speed.”
“This one reduces speed.”
“You can think of it as the brakes.”
As Lucian patiently explained each control, Mo Guilan listened attentively, nodding from time to time.
There was only one thought on her mind.
I need to learn this as quickly as possible…
So this man can finally get out of the control room.
