Half a month later…

The passenger ship finally arrived in China.

As the vessel docked at the harbour, Mo Guilan, who was standing in the control room, nearly jumped for joy.Full novel: Marvel: Assassin’s Creed — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Then she remembered the man beside her and hurriedly suppressed her excitement.

Freedom at last!

These past fifteen days had been the most nerve-racking experience of her life.

She had lost several pounds…

And now sported a pair of rather impressive dark circles beneath her eyes.

“You’re free now.”

Watching the delighted flush spread across her face, Lucian smiled.

“Mm…”

“Well…”

“I…”

Mo Guilan looked awkwardly at the hooded man standing before her.

“Is there something you want to say?”

Lucian asked with a faint smile.

“W-What’s your name?”

“My name is Lucian.”

“I hope fate allows us to meet again.”

As soon as he finished speaking…

His figure vanished into thin air.

Mo Guilan stood there, completely dumbfounded.

Her mouth slowly fell open.

With trembling fingers, she cautiously reached toward the empty space where he’d been standing.

Her hand met nothing but air.

“T-This…”

“…How…”

Ten minutes later…

Mo Guilan finally walked off the ship.

She still looked somewhat dazed.

“Thirteenth Aunt!”

A familiar voice called out nearby.

She turned immediately.

Standing not far away was a resolute-looking man dressed in a white robe with a traditional queue hairstyle, holding an umbrella in one hand.

“Feihong!”

She ran toward him excitedly.

“You’ve had a difficult journey.”

Seeing how exhausted she looked, Huang Feihong spoke with concern.

Mo Guilan hesitated before suddenly asking,

“Feihong…”

“Do you believe immortals really exist?”

“Huh?”

Huang Feihong scratched his shaved forehead in confusion.

“What brought that on?”

“…Never mind.”

She shook her head before naturally slipping her arm through his.

“Let’s go.”

“In public…”

“We really shouldn’t.”

Embarrassed, Huang Feihong quickly freed himself from her embrace.

The two of them gradually disappeared into the bustling streets.

Watching them leave from a distance…

Lucian wore a faint look of disappointment.

So Huang Feihong was only slightly stronger than an ordinary person.

If they ever fought…

He probably wouldn’t survive even a single move.

Just then—

Lucian’s expression changed slightly.

He sensed an unusual fluctuation spreading through the surrounding air.

His eyes swept across the area.

In a secluded corner stood a bald woman dressed in flowing robes.

She was staring directly at him.

Her eyes were filled with caution.

Lucian raised an eyebrow.

An amused smile appeared on his face as he walked toward her.

“Sir…”

The woman assumed a strange stance with both hands.

“May I ask where you’ve come from?”

“Your ability is rather unusual.”

“What exactly is it?”

Instead of answering her question, Lucian asked one of his own.

“Please answer my question first.”

The woman frowned.

Her tone became noticeably more forceful.

“Oh?”

“And what if I choose not to?”

Lucian smiled casually.

No sooner had he spoken than the woman’s hands began tracing intricate patterns through the air.

Golden lines of light appeared, weaving together into an elaborate magical symbol.

Witnessing such a miraculous sight…

Lucian merely folded his arms across his chest, smiling as he watched her work.

Two seconds later…

The spell was complete.

With a firm push of both palms—

The glowing sigil shot forward.

The surrounding space rippled strangely.

Then the scenery around Lucian folded inward like sheets of paper.

An entirely different landscape replaced the original world.

“How fascinating.”

He nodded in genuine admiration.

“What an extraordinary ability.”

“Hmph.”

“You outsider.”

The woman began drawing another spell.

“Tell me your purpose for coming to Earth!”

“What if I said…”

“I have no purpose at all?”

Lucian replied.

The woman paused to think.

After a moment…

She slowly shook her head.

“Then that’s exactly why I won’t tell you.”

“Because you wouldn’t believe me anyway.”

Lucian shrugged.

“You—!”

Furious, the woman thrust the glowing magic circle forward.

It expanded into a brilliant circular seal.

Countless rays of light erupted from its centre, streaking toward Lucian like lightning.

The attacks reached him in an instant.

Lucian simply grabbed the cloak hanging behind him and swept it forward.

The beams struck the cloak…

Then vanished without leaving the slightest trace.

The cloak itself remained completely unharmed.

This cloak had been crafted from the legendary Shroud, one of the Pieces of Eden from the Assassin’s Creed universe.

The sacred relic had once belonged to the Isu.

According to history, it was the very burial shroud associated with the crucifixion of Jesus.

Not only could it block virtually any attack…

It also possessed the miraculous power to temporarily revive the dead and heal the gravely injured.

After obtaining the relic centuries ago, Lucian had specifically sought out Leonardo da Vinci to reforge it into a cloak.

Nor was it the only artifact he had modified.

His Hidden Blades…

His Staff…

Even the Apple of Eden had all been upgraded.

“Is this magic?”

“A superpower?”

“Or something else entirely?”

Lucian asked with obvious curiosity.

The bald woman answered only with more spells.

One magical attack after another poured toward him.

None of them caused the slightest damage.

Just as she began tracing yet another spell…

Lucian vanished.

The next instant—

He appeared directly behind her.

His hand struck the side of her neck with surgical precision.

Her vision instantly went dark.

She collapsed unconscious.

At the same time, the folded world dissolved.

The surroundings returned to normal.

Looking at the unconscious bald woman lying at his feet, Lucian let out a helpless sigh.

“My dear nun…”

“Was there really any need for this?”

Shaking his head, he bent down, picked her up, and walked away.
