Watching 2B’s actions, a sneer of disdain appeared on the sniper’s face.
To him, what she was doing was nothing more than a mantis trying to stop a chariot—an exercise in utter futility.
After all, mere flesh and blood could never block a bullet fired at such close range.
As far as he was concerned, even if 2B covered the muzzle with her hand, she was a dead woman.
Yet, to his utter disbelief, the moment he pulled the trigger, the sharp clang of metal striking metal rang out.
To his horror, he watched as she actually blocked his bullet with her bare palm.
“You seem surprised?” Having effortlessly blocked the sniper’s bullet, 2B exerted her strength once more.
Instantly, her immense power crushed the sniper’s handgun into a mangled lump of iron.
The sniper gasped in terror.
He scrambled backward in a panic, staring at 2B as if he had just seen a ghost.
In that brief instant, he realized that the woman before him wasn’t entirely unscathed.
There was a gaping wound right in the center of her palm, but peering through the tear, what he saw was the cold, gleaming glint of a metal skeleton.
This meant that the woman in front of him wasn’t human at all.
She was an android!
With this realization, his worldview shattered.
Although Iron Man had recently emerged, that was just Tony Stark—a human—wearing a high-tech suit of armor.
High-tech armor was nothing new in this world.
Kingpin’s subordinates, Scorpion and Prowler, both had their own high-tech suits.
It wasn’t anything revolutionary.
But an android—especially one as lifelike as the woman before him—was unheard of.
Such technological sophistication completely transcended the capabilities of the current era.
At the very least, he had never heard of any faction capable of creating such a realistic android.
More importantly, her combat prowess was absolutely absurd.
It was simply mind-boggling!
And from what he knew, this woman was Loren Morgan’s personal secretary.
This meant that Loren Morgan, whom they had previously disregarded, likely possessed technology far ahead of its time.
Though he had no idea how the man had achieved this, if his guess was correct, this discovery was of monumental significance.
It was enough to completely disrupt all the plans their organization had laid out.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, he didn’t waste another second.
Giving up any notion of fighting 2B, he spun around and leapt straight out the window.
Keep in mind, they were on the thirtieth floor.
A fall from this height meant certain death.
However, the instant he vaulted through the window, he pulled out a specialized tool that resembled a handgun.
Instead of bullets, it fired a hook attached to a spool of specialized wire.
He pulled the trigger.
The hook shot forward and embedded itself deeply into the wall of the opposite building.
He swung out into the open air, looking exactly like Spider-Man.
Watching this, a playful smile appeared on 2B’s face.
Instead of giving immediate chase, she commanded the anti-gravity drone hovering beside her to fire a red laser beam at the fleeing man.
The laser struck instantly, effortlessly severing the wire.
“What the fuck, no!” The man let out a terrified scream.
Sailing through the air in a wide arc, he slammed hard against the wall of the opposite building in a brutal collision.
Fortunately, he had already swung quite low to the ground before the wire snapped, so he wasn’t killed on impact.
Even so, he lay there, broken and unable to get up.
Holding onto her drone, 2B slowly and elegantly descended from the rooftop.
Moments later, she landed gracefully right in front of the man.
The man was in a pathetic state, his face contorted in agony.
One of his leg bones had clearly snapped upon impact, pinning him to the ground.
Yet 2B remained completely indifferent, devoid of any pity.
Instead, she took a step forward and delivered a brutal kick to his ribs.
The terrifying force sent the man flying.
He tumbled and rolled along the pavement for over a dozen meters before grinding to a halt.
“Run?” 2B said, her voice freezing cold as she looked down at the gasping, broken man.
She gripped her katana and drove it straight through his shoulder.
The excruciating pain made the man’s expression twist even more violently.
To 2B’s mild surprise, despite his agonizing pain, the man gritted his teeth and didn’t let out a single scream.
His sheer willpower was almost commendable.
“I ask, you answer.
Answer truthfully, and I’ll give you a quick death.
Lie, and you will beg for death.
Speak—who sent you?” Hearing 2B’s interrogation, a look of pure disdain crossed the man’s face.
Enduring the throbbing pain, he snarled, “Don’t waste your time.
I’ll never talk.
And I don’t need you to give me a quick death!” With those final words, the man bit down hard inside his cheek.
Almost instantly, dark blood began to seep from his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.
He had a poison capsule concealed inside his mouth, prepared specifically for the event of capture.
Seeing this, 2B didn’t hesitate.
She quickly stepped forward, forced his jaws apart, and tried to extract the poison.
But it was already too late; the toxin had done its work, and he was dead.
2B hadn’t expected him to be so resolute.
Her creator had told her before that humans were incredibly complex organisms.
Some were selfish, while others were noble and selfless.
Some were vicious and cruel, while others were kind-hearted.
Some were cowards who feared death, while others were brave and fearless.
If one were to rank the most complex creatures in the universe, humanity would undoubtedly claim the top spot.
The cause of this diversity lay in their rich emotional systems and a concept they called a “soul”—things other organisms lacked.
Before this, she hadn’t really understood.
But watching the man embrace death so resolutely sparked a subtle, strange shift within her AI.
This tiny change was like a seed slowly taking root and germinating in her mechanical brain.
No one could say what it would grow into in the future.
Seeing that the man was dead, 2B felt a pang of frustration.
This meant her mission was a complete failure; she still had no idea who the mastermind was.
But just as she prepared to leave, she noticed a peculiar mark on the man’s wrist.
It was a symbol consisting of a skull with six stylized tentacles.
Staring at this strange emblem, 2B frowned slightly.
Having accessed the internet previously, she recognized this pattern.
“Hydra?”
