Time for a Surprise Visit!
19: Open Up!
Time for a Surprise Visit!
A new chapter is up.
Come in, get comfortable, and let’s see what kind of trouble waits this time ❤️ ✦ Somewhere in a bar, Deadpool sprawled across a busty woman, two swords strapped to his back.
“Missions in invaded worlds sound awesome.” “There have to be bounties, right?” The first invasion had ended, and the broadcast had gone dark.
But the reaction it caused had only begun.
The world had already been simmering.
The invasion kicked it into a full boil.
Power brokers, ambitious men, superheroes, supervillains, and every shadow in between began to move.
Beneath the surface of a supposedly calm world, countless currents were rising.
None of that had anything to do with Mason.
After collecting his rewards, he went straight to sleep.
The emotional swings had been exhausting.
His body was fine, but his mind needed the rest.
For the first time since arriving in this world, he slept deeply.
Until someone started pounding on his door.
“Open up!” “Come on, open the door!” The knocking dragged Mason out of sleep.
“What is going on?” He pushed himself up, eyes unfocused.
Then his senses snapped awake.
“Wait.” “Someone is here?” “Did they find me?” His eyes sharpened, and alarm bells went off in his head.
It could not be the landlord.
He had paid rent a few days earlier, and the voice was wrong.
He had transmigrated physically and had stayed in this apartment almost the entire time.
Aside from the landlord, he had no acquaintances here.
No friends would come knocking.
The pounding grew more frequent.
“It’s late.
Don’t tell me you’re still asleep.
Open up already.” Mason’s body tensed like a drawn spring.
S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Were they reacting this quickly?
The voice did not sound right.
Rokushiki gathered in his muscles, ready to erupt.
The system panel was open as well.
If he needed to, he could spend points and materialize a T-078 Tyrant army.
Armed to the teeth, he approached the door.
The lock clicked.
“Those are huge…
no, you’re pale.
I meant pale.” The door had barely opened before a woman with curves impossible to ignore pushed inside, her chest arriving a heartbeat before the rest of her, a bag of supplies in hand.
A woman?
A gorgeous one?
But she was not Natasha.
Mason had seen Black Widow clearly during the live broadcast.
The woman at his door was different.
She was just as hard to look away from, but beneath those impossible curves there was a bright, sunlit energy.
Like summer on a beach.
Warm, vivid, and dazzling.
“I’m Gwen.
You’re Mason, right?
Dad asked me to come check on you.” Gwen came in as if the place already knew her.
She set the things in her hands to the side and looked him over with easy familiarity.
When she shook her hair back, her face came into full view.
Pale skin, gemstone-bright eyes, sharp, striking features, a simple T-shirt and jeans that somehow made the outfit look deliberate.
Her fitted T-shirt fought a losing battle against her chest.
Anyone with eyes would have noticed.
Mason’s attention, however, caught on something else.
“Cousin?” His expression stalled.
When had he acquired a cousin?
He had crossed over in his own body.
He was certain of that.
So where had this cousin come from?
And the name Gwen.
Her striking figure.
The faint but impressive power inside her.
Could she be…
Spider-Woman?
Gwen Stacy?
“Huh?” “That’s me.
You know me, cousin?
Did you see a picture?” Gwen blinked.
A blush touched her pale cheeks.
She looked casual on the surface, but her thoughts had already gone sideways.
She had not expected her cousin to be this handsome.
If her father had warned her, she might have dressed a little better.
The close distance did not help.
Mason’s presence washed over her, warm and unmistakably masculine, and heat rose in her face before she could stop it.
Before transmigrating, Mason had been decently attractive at most.
The Perfect T-virus Enhancement had changed that.
It optimized him from the genetic level outward.
The old outline remained, but everything had been upgraded.
Rokushiki Mastery added a controlled, almost grandmaster-like aura around him.
It was not enough to make someone fall in love at first sight, but it absolutely made him hard to ignore.
“Identity Rationalization?” Mason’s eyes brightened as the answer clicked.
One of the hidden benefits he had received after transmigrating had been a random identity.
He had assumed it was only a blank legal background to help him survive in New York.
He had not expected this.
“Randomly becoming Gwen’s cousin?” His expression turned strange.
That kind of low-probability event was almost ridiculous.
“The landlord said you hadn’t left the apartment for days.
Dad was worried something had happened, so he asked me to bring some things and check on you.” Gwen leaned against the doorframe and winked at him.
Her jeans showed off long legs that made it very difficult to keep his eyes disciplined.
