“Damn it, Rhodey!

Stop them!” A yellow laser blast streaked through the air, sending Thor flying back dozens of meters.

Before the War Machine could follow up, the two titans collided with a bone-jarring thud.Full novel: Marvel: Gilgamesh Template — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Thor countered with a backhand swing of his hammer, Mjolnir connecting heavily with Stark’s chin.

The Iron Man armor spun like a top before crashing face-first into the turf.

Tony shook his head.

While the suit absorbed most of the impact, the sheer kinetic energy left his vision swimming.

“What kind of monster is this?” Rhodes muttered to himself in disbelief.

The guy was invulnerable—lasers didn’t even leave a scratch.

But watching them trade blows like this wasn’t going to end well.

Rhodes pulled an electric baton from his back, intending to step in and break up the fight.

Thor, however, saw the two similar armors and assumed they were a coordinated unit.

He caught sight of the tactical teams closing in and let out a boisterous, challenging roar: “Come then!

Come all at once!” Before the echoes died down, the red-and-gold figure lunged again.

Repulsors hammered into Thor’s chest, forcing him to skid backward across the grass, carving deep furrows into the earth for dozens of meters.

Just then, Rhodes launched the War Machine armor into the fray, knocking Tony over with his baton.

But in the next second, the War Machine was sent spiraling into the air by a stray Mjolnir strike.

“Rhodes!

Whose side are you on?” Stark shook his head, unable to fathom why his best friend was swinging at him.

“Tony…

I…

trying…

to…

stop…” James’s voice crackled through the comms; the internal circuitry had been smashed by the hammer strike.

“Fine!

Don’t bother explaining.

Let’s take him down together!” Stark cut the connection, establishing his own alliance of necessity.

Rhodes had no choice but to follow his lead.

The three figures clashed like wolves.

Thor sent Mjolnir flying to swat the War Machine out of the sky, then reached out to grab Stark’s wrists as he prepared a repulsor blast.

The mechanical whine of the armor’s servos screamed as they locked in a contest of strength.

Stark, realizing his suit was losing the struggle, panicked and lunged forward, headbutting the god.

CLANG!

The metallic resonance rang out, but Thor remained perfectly unfazed.

To Thor, the headbutt was a personal challenge.

A man who lived by the code of “an eye for an eye,” Thor took it as an invitation.

Ignoring the pain, he slammed his own head into Stark’s helmet three times in rapid succession, leaving Tony utterly disoriented inside the suit.

Just then, War Machine dived in, slamming the electric baton into Thor’s head.

Thor snapped his gaze toward Rhodes, his eyes burning with tiger-like ferocity.

“You dare use electricity against me?

I am the God of Thunder!” With a kick that sent Iron Man flying, Thor whipped around, gripped Rhodes by the throat, and summoned Mjolnir back to his hand.

He began raining down hammer strikes that were lethal in intent.

The War Machine’s faceplate began to buckle, crushing inward and pressing against Rhodes’s skull.

“Tony!

Tony!” Rhodes struggled, gasping for air.

Stark didn’t let him down.

He soared in, slamming a repulsor beam into Thor’s back, sending him reeling.

But Thor was up in a flash, Mjolnir crackling with lightning as he descended like a vengeful god, bringing the hammer down with the force of an avalanche.

BOOM…

The shockwave, fueled by arcs of electricity, blasted outward, knocking everyone—including the spectating Kingpin and Loki—off their feet.

When the dust settled, Captain America stood in the center, shield braced, his muscles strained and his legs trembling.

It was the physical reaction to sudden, overwhelming force.

Even though the vibranium shield had deflected most of the impact, the sheer momentum had nearly buckled his frame.

“Another one?” Thor wiped the mud from his face, spinning Mjolnir like a windmill, the wind whistling around his hand.

Loki was beginning to feel a flicker of nerves.

He hadn’t realized Midgard harbored this many powerful individuals.

And Thor is my brother; I can’t let him get mobbed.

Loki stepped forward and snatched up Kingpin, who was still sprawled on the ground and reeling from the impact.

To Loki, the heavy man felt as light as a feather.

“I hear you’re ninety percent muscle, Fisk.

Why don’t you represent me and go help my brother?” With a flick of his wrist, he tossed Fisk forward and simultaneously dispelled the illusion concealing him, leaving the massive, rotund crime boss exposed in the middle of the battlefield.

Kingpin was utterly stunned.

How did he end up here?

He was supposed to be the man in the shadows, not the center stage!

This wasn’t just any arena; it was crawling with S.H.I.E.L.D.

agents.

As a known crime lord, standing here in broad daylight—Nick Fury wouldn’t let him walk, would he?

The Avengers wouldn’t let him be, would they?

This is a setup!

He’s using me as a meat shield!

Fisk cursed Loki’s ancestors under his breath.

He was the most vulnerable man on the field.

One wrong move and he was a dead man.

He was right.

The tactical teams, too terrified to interfere in the “god-fight,” now had a target they recognized: Kingpin.

Rifles and even rocket launchers pivoted toward him in an instant.

Fisk, a man of quick wit, realized his life hung by a thread.

He threw his hands into the air, signaling his surrender, and turned toward Thor, dropping to his knees with practiced subservience.

“I am Kingpin!

Sent by the Trickster God, Loki, to welcome the honorable God of Thunder, Thor!” He’s playing his hand, Fisk thought.

Thor’s face softened at the mention of his brother.

He summoned a crackling arc of lightning, knocking aside the agents who were closing in on Fisk.

“He is my brother’s man!

No one touches him!” I bet on the right horse!

Fisk breathed a sigh of relief.

He had survived many shootouts, but he had never felt such sheer, cold terror.

He had grown complacent over the last six months, lulled by Loki’s polite demeanor, and now he had paid the price for his carelessness.

If Thor had known the truth—that Loki was actually using him as a pawn and had been stringing him along for months—he probably would have laughed.

Being tricked by Loki was a family tradition; Thor had grown accustomed to the cycle of betrayal long ago.
