“ROAR!” A roar like a prehistoric beast echoed through the air, followed by a dull thud.

Thor was sent flying like a punted football, crashing through the wooden walls of the house and tumbling across the ground, buried under a mess of splintered boards.

Thanks to his Asgardian physiology, he was battered and dusty, but otherwise unscathed.Full novel: Marvel: Gilgamesh Template — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He barely had time to climb to his feet before a shadow fell over him.

The Hulk, fists locked together into a massive club, plummeted from the sky with devastating force.

Acting purely on instinct, Thor rolled to his left, narrowly dodging the blow.

He sprang up like a panther, Mjolnir swinging in a powerful upward arc.

The hammer connected with the Hulk’s jaw like a thunderclap, sending the green giant flying back dozens of meters.

Only then did Thor glance back at the house.

It had collapsed completely.

A heavy beam had crushed Natasha’s right leg, and Barton was helping her limp away from the wreckage.

Seeing the God of Thunder unharmed, both agents exhaled in relief.

Barton even managed a wry smile: “How was that?

I hope he didn’t disappoint you.” “On the contrary,” Thor said, spinning Mjolnir by its leather strap like a windmill, his eyes burning with the thrill of battle.

“His strength is impressive.

But if he is to join the Avengers, I must test him further!” With a roar, he hurled the hammer and launched himself into the air, flying alongside Mjolnir like a living cannonball toward the green behemoth.

Hulk, feeling the rage building, surged in size, his muscles bulging as he let out a defiant roar and met Thor with a massive fist.

The collision of fist and hammer generated a shockwave so violent it sent both combatants flying back in opposite directions.

For all his divine power, flesh and blood were tested; Hulk’s fist was a mangled mess of raw meat and exposed bone from the impact of the hammer.

However, his healing factor was immense—within five seconds, the flesh knit itself back together as if it had never been damaged.

The pain only fueled the rage.

Hulk let out a deafening shout, charged forward, and barreled into the Thunder God once more.

Thor felt the stench of the beast’s fury long before he arrived.

He was an expert at fighting mindless brutes.

He swung Mjolnir and hurled it far to the side.

Hulk instinctively ducked the hammer, his momentum unbroken as he lunged at Thor.

But the Thunder God wore a knowing smile.

He snapped his fingers, and Mjolnir, having looped through the air, came screaming back toward his palm.

Hulk never saw it coming.

The hammer slammed squarely into the back of his head, sending him face-planting into the dirt, skidding forward on his momentum.

Strike while the iron is hot!

Thor capitalized immediately.

He swung Mjolnir downward, and a bolt of lightning, thick as a barrel, cascaded from the sky.

In the blinding glare, the Hulk let out a cry of agony.

Before the light even faded, Thor leaped, descending like a god delivering divine judgment.

His hammer hammered into the Hulk’s skull, pinning it into the mud.

Like a pile-driver, Thor unleashed a relentless rhythm of blows, pinning the giant down so he couldn’t even raise his head.

The clang, clang, clang of hammer on skull shook the earth itself.

Natasha watched, her hand pressed over her mouth in disbelief.

“Isn’t this…

a bit cruel?” Barton frowned, his own conscience pricked.

Yet, as one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s elite, his tactical mind remained sharp.

“Hulk’s strength grows with his rage.

We should get further away; it’ll be safer.” Natasha nodded.

In a battle of this scale, caution was paramount.

The two of them began to retreat, but they hadn’t gone two steps before a thunderous BOOM stopped them in their tracks.

Thor had been getting too comfortable.

As he swung, Hulk’s strength had peaked.

After a few failed struggles, he suddenly reached up, grabbed Thor by the ankle, and yanked him to the ground.

Then, the beast rose, swinging the God of Thunder around like a ragdoll.

Thor was smashed repeatedly into the earth, his bones aching, his vision swimming, tossed back and forth like a discarded sack.

Barton stared, stunned.

“Did the momentum just shift that fast?” “At this rate, Thor might not be able to handle him,” Natasha said, her face grim.

She was thinking long-term—if Thor couldn’t neutralize the Hulk, they would be the next victims.

“We have to help him!” “How?” Barton was stumped.

Rushing in now was suicide, especially with a wounded teammate.

Before they could intervene, the tide shifted again.

Hulk had Thor pinned, raining down blow after blow.

Thor was drifting into unconsciousness, unable to defend himself.

In his desperation, faint blue sparks of electricity flickered in his eyes.

Suddenly, an aura of pure lightning erupted from his body, blasting the Hulk away.

Thor stood, suspended by an invisible field of power, charging at the giant like a man possessed.

Their fists collided—this time, it wasn’t just physical force; it was magical discharge.

Hulk shivered as thousands of volts surged through him.

Before he could recover, Thor’s left hand shot out, recalling Mjolnir to his palm, and he drove the hammer into the Hulk’s gut like a battering ram.

The impact was so severe it practically turned the giant inside out.

The Hulk’s massive form shrank rapidly, collapsing back into the frail, trembling shape of Bruce Banner.

“He…

he was holding back?” Natasha murmured, stunned.

In her mind, the Hulk was the apex of terrestrial power.

The fight had proved he was at least an even match for Thor.

But Thor had held an ace up his sleeve, ending the fight the moment it became too dangerous.

“It seems our assessment of the Aesir’s strength needs a massive upward revision.” As they spoke, Thor fell to his knees, utterly exhausted.

He shook his head, trying to clear the haze, and stared at the shivering Bruce Banner before him.

“What just happened?” His consciousness had been blurred; he’d only felt a surge of power within.

Now, he stood over the defeated Hulk.

Did I defeat him on instinct alone?

That was clearly impossible.
