Charles looked at Wade with a rather strange expression.

“You don’t seem scared at all.”

Wade remained perfectly calm.

He then smiled as he glanced around.

“Besides, I’m a very vengeful person.

If anything happens to my grandmother, I’ll make them pay someday.”

“For example…”

Wade blinked.

“What if I use my powers to make it rain meteors right here?”

Charles’s face went pale.

Holy shit.

I almost forgot about that.

If this kid really summoned a meteor shower, would there even be a New York left afterward?

Charles’s expression became somewhat complicated.

Apparently—or rather, obviously—his intimidation tactic had completely failed.

Provoking an Omega-level mutant, even one who had only just awakened his abilities, was an extremely foolish thing to do.

The problem was that Wade himself had no idea how powerful his ability might eventually become.

Charles coughed twice, trying to hide his embarrassment.

Beside him, Jean’s lips briefly curved into an amused smile.

She quickly suppressed it, returning to her usual cold and composed expression.

“Well, don’t worry.

No matter what happens, they can’t do anything to you.

We’ll protect our fellow mutant.”

Charles smoothly changed the subject, making his entire image suddenly seem much more noble.

Wade, however, thought to himself,

I knew it.

This old man definitely has another motive.

From the moment Charles had entered his hospital room, Wade had already suspected why he had come.

A mutant leader wouldn’t seek him out for no reason.

The only logical explanation was that Charles wanted to recruit him into his faction.

Charles also decided to move on to another subject.

“Let’s put what happened earlier aside for now.

By now, you’ve probably realized that you’re different from ordinary people, haven’t you?”

Wade nodded.

The sea of stars inside his consciousness.

The strange constitution that had awakened from its slumber.

His body contained countless powers that he couldn’t begin to understand.

And what he had awakened so far was probably only a tiny fraction of them.

Unfortunately, there was no convenient system to explain everything to him.

If he wanted to continue growing stronger, he’d probably have to rely on his own research.

Charles spoke solemnly.

“Your ability is extremely powerful.

Would you be interested in undergoing a systematic series of tests here?”

“Sure!”

Wade nodded.

“I’m actually curious myself.

I’d like to know what my abilities look like when I use them at full strength.”

“Would it be alright if I conducted some experiments here?”

Charles:

“…”

Experiments?

My school would be reduced to rubble!

“No, no, no.”

Charles hurriedly waved off the idea.

“These tests need to be conducted somewhere more isolated.”

“Besides, your abilities probably aren’t limited to what we’ve seen so far.

We can start by examining your physical condition first.

How does that sound?”

Wade remembered the strange vision he’d seen inside his mind.

He really did need to understand himself better.

“If you don’t mind the trouble, I’d be happy to undergo the tests.”

“Of course not.

Helping mutants has been my life’s greatest ambition.”

The smile returned to Charles’s face.

He was clearly in a good mood as he patted the armrest of his wheelchair.

“Then my student, Jean Grey, will take you to the testing area.”

Only then did Wade turn his attention toward Jean and carefully observe her.

God knew how many times he’d had to force himself not to stare.

After all, his body might only be twelve years old, but his soul was that of an adult.

Jean was only in her early twenties.

Her delicate and captivating features were more beautiful than any woman Wade had ever seen on television or in magazines.

Her vivid red hair fell smoothly over her shoulders, while her pale neck was as elegant as a swan’s.

She wore a well-tailored women’s suit and stood there with a graceful presence.

“My name is Jean Grey.”

Wade looked at the woman who was considerably more mature than himself and responded,

“Hello.

My name is Wade.”

“Wade?”

Jean slightly furrowed her beautiful brows.

“Strange name.

I think Silent is easier to say.”

“Attention, please!

I’m not Silent!”

Wade immediately corrected her.

“You should call me Wade!”

Or just call me by my actual name!

It was all because of Charles and that ridiculous nickname. Get faster updates on g.com.

“Oh, I understand.”

Jean nodded calmly.

“I’ll remember that next time, Mr.

Silent.”

Wade:

“…”

Just as Wade was about to protest again, Jean grabbed him by the arm without giving him a chance.

“Alright, kid.

Don’t waste time.

Let’s go get you tested.”

Wade struggled a little out of principle, but couldn’t break free.

He discovered that Jean was surprisingly strong.

As expected of someone connected to the Phoenix Force.

“Hey, hey, hey!

I may be twelve, but what’s so small about me?”

Jean stopped and looked him up and down several times.

“Twelve?”

“Someone nine years younger than me isn’t a kid?”

So Jean was twenty-one this year.

Wade looked at her seriously.

“I’ll grow up soon.”

“Is that so?”

Jean narrowed her eyes slightly.

“But until you grow up, you’re still a kid.

So behave yourself.”

“…”

Wade spoke solemnly.

“I think we should settle this with strength!”

“I challenge you to a duel!”

“Mhm.”

Jean realized that she was gradually having trouble restraining Wade.

His resistance was steadily growing stronger.

And this was with Wade deliberately holding back his strength.

If he unleashed everything at once, Jean might actually get hurt.

“Alright, that’s enough.”

Charles rubbed his forehead somewhat helplessly.

He had suddenly discovered that his prized student, Jean, might have a tiny bit of a mischievous streak.

His voice carried a calming quality that seemed to settle the mind itself.

“If you two keep this up, I’m going to have to take more direct measures.”

Charles’s deep, tranquil blue eyes fell upon them.

The power of his telepathy was already beginning to gather.

Instantly, both Wade and Jean backed down.
