Why was Minato able to build such a powerful reputation during the Third Great Ninja War?
There was only one reason: he had mastered the space-time ninjutsu created by the Second Hokage, the Flying Thunder God Technique.
The speed of spatial movement surpasses every other form of movement, so Minato became the fastest person in the ninja world.
Any enemy he wanted to attack could not escape, and even when surrounded, he could easily retreat.
Other Jonin and even Kage-level fighters could not defeat opponents of the same level within a minute.
Minato, however, could use the convenience of the Flying Thunder God Technique to directly slaughter opponents at the same level.
Taking down one or two was very easy, and when things went smoothly, Minato once killed dozens of enemy Jonin by himself during a single battle.
It was because of achievements like these that villages hostile to Konoha issued the following order, “If you encounter Konoha’s Yellow Flash during any mission, you may abandon the mission immediately without punishment.” That level of treatment really speaks for itself.
Perhaps the First Hokage and Uchiha Madara had received similar treatment in the past, but after their deaths, this was the first time it appeared again.
It can be said that without the Flying Thunder God Technique, Minato only possessed strength ranging from elite Jonin to near-Kage level.
With the Flying Thunder God Technique, his power jumped directly to the ranks of the stronger Kage-level fighters.
With more training and stronger ninjutsu, reaching the Super Kage level would not be difficult.
Before the power scaling of the Naruto world broke down, the only Super Kage-level fighter was Nagato of the Uzumaki Clan, who controlled the Six Paths of Pain.
It can be said that if the Fourth Hokage had not died during the Nine-Tails Incident, he definitely would have grown into a Super Kage-level fighter.
There is actually proof of this.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, the reanimated Minato reconciled with the half of the Nine-Tails sealed inside him and then used Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
At that point, his strength had already reached the Super Kage level.
The most important turning point in Minato’s life was undoubtedly learning the Flying Thunder God Technique.
Only by mastering space-time ninjutsu was Minato able to achieve his later accomplishments and push Orochimaru, one of the Three Sannin and a disciple of the Third Hokage, out of contention for the Hokage position.
There may have been a little behind-the-scenes influence, but the greater reason was Minato’s strength.
Minato’s example alone shows how huge the gap is between knowing space-time ninjutsu and not knowing it.
The same is true for Uchiha Obito.
Uchiha Obito’s space ability came from his Mangekyo Sharingan.
The Mangekyo Sharingan in his left eye was the eye he gave to Hatake Kakashi.
It contained the offensive eye technique Kamui.
The right eye, which he kept for himself and used all along, contained the eye technique Kamui Space.
Kamui Space has many functions.
It can perform spatial movement like the Flying Thunder God Technique, and it can also pull his body into the Kamui Space, achieving an intangible state.
The principle behind Kamui Space’s spatial movement is simple.
It opens entrances and exits to Kamui Space in different locations and uses Kamui Space as a transit point to move through space.
Although it can perform spatial movement, Kamui Space does have some drawbacks.
The first is that the process is complicated and not as convenient or fast as the Flying Thunder God Technique.
The second is that the destination must be within Obito’s chakra perception range.
It cannot perform spatial movement to any location in the world like Flying Thunder God can.
These are the aspects where Kamui Space’s movement ability is inferior to the Flying Thunder God Technique, and they are also why Obito rarely fought using that method.
However, Kamui Space also surpasses Flying Thunder God in one area: its other application, intangibility.
This is a true god-tier ability.
Because intangibility makes all attacks ineffective.
Once the body enters Kamui Space, which only Obito can access, it naturally cannot be harmed by any outside attack.
Relying on this ability, Obito was able to enter Konoha during the Nine-Tails Incident as if no one was there.
He easily abducted Kushina, who was in labor, and the infant Naruto despite them being heavily protected, leading to everything that happened afterward.
Not only that, even after being defeated one-on-one by Minato due to the difference in strength, he was still able to escape with ease.
He even treated the Five Kage as if they were nothing during the Five Kage Summit, issued threats, rescued Sasuke, and no one could stop him.
At that time, the concept of Six Paths-level power had not yet appeared, and the five Kage at the summit were considered the strongest people in the world.
Yet Obito still played them for fools, and they had no way to deal with him.
That is the power of Kamui Space’s intangibility.
It can be said that if the eye technique awakened by Obito’s Mangekyo Sharingan had not been Kamui Space but something like Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu instead, he absolutely would not have achieved what he did later.
At the Nine-Tails Incident alone, he would have been killed by Minato.
There is no doubt about that.
So space abilities really are extremely powerful.
The difference between having them and not having them is an entirely different level.
That is why Alex sighed that Minato would no longer need to throw a fake match.
Because Alex understood this very clearly.
